The first time I went to Thong Yi my thought was«Meh, I will never come back again». It was about two years ago when it has just opened. My friends and I were attracted by its concept of wooden pot rices and noodles, and also its colourful menu, plus it was newly opened with discounts and clean environment. The food portion was rather small as its wooden pot could not fit much. Besides, the service was slow even though there were less customers(I guess it was because the crew had less experiences and still new to the operation), and the food was quite salty, I can tell there were quite a lot of MSG as well. Although it was considered cheap, but I would not wanna try again. But I heard it has been improving a lot recently and even strengthened its marketing strategies. The crew have improved with faster and accurate services, the food changed better and the menu have more varieties(for example they have dim sum month for RM3 per plate on limited time daily). Besides, Thong Yi has been organizing events for celebrations and catering, offering membership, lucky draws and so many more. It slowly earns its reputation back so I decided to give it another chance, and yeah it’s okay, just okay.
