The ‘Mamak across the street’ is how we refer to this restaurant. It is common for me to go there and find colleagues from work eating there, which is easy to understand. This place is really cheap and has great Indian and Malay food. My personal favorites are the butter chicken and the cheese naan. The restaurant’s location is quite convenient but the ambiance is not so nice. Although they just finished a renovation, it still has the ‘Mamak’ vibe that some people might not appreciate. For me it doesn’t really matter as long as the food is good, which really is. I really recommend it, especially if you are counting ringgits(and not calories).

This was my very first mamak experience. I just moved to KL and during lunch time at the office my colleague decided to introduce me to true Asian thing — MAMAK! I could not believe when I saw people were eating with their hands, the tables looked odd, and just the whole concept was so unfamiliar to me. It ended up being a place where I ate at least 2x a week, because it is FANTASTIC! The staff is more than friendly, my collegue became friends with the waiters. You must try their chicken tikka and cheese nan with garlic and butter. Mmm! I definitely recommend this to all my friends. It is really well priced good quality delicious food.

When I first got to KL, everyone was talking about Mamak food and how all my colleagues actually head there for food! I’ve experience Mamak so many times now but every time I eat it, I regret it later, my stomach cannot handle indian food, especially if it’s spicy and quite honesty about 90% of it is. it’s hilarious when I ask the staff if a dish is spicy and they say no it’s not then they bring it out and it burns like hell: D I was told by a friend that either they don’t understand English so well or for them it’s not the spiciest food ever. I wouldn’t honestly recommend the place. you can give t a try once, of it’s your thing then sure! if it’s not you can move on :) The place has been renewed though so it looks much nice and cleaner now. give it a shot :)

This is the first place I had my first lunch in after my arrival in KL :) They did close down at one point and reopened with a whole new facelift. My colleagues calls it the Paris Hilton of Mamaks. Yes, it is pretty pimp :) I am not a huge fan of the local foods much, mainly cause my stomach can’t handle to much spicy but I do love the biryani and their tanduri chicken. The meal is pretty large and it is only RM11. It is right across Menara UOA so lunch time is extremely busy. It is very convenient as they are open a little later then other places around so I do end up stopping here at least once a week or so. They have tables outside if you prefer to be in the humid weather or KL or yo can choose to go inside where you get to enjoy the chills of AC. To be honest, after a full day inside an office with AC blasting, outside doesn’t seem like such a bad option. Bön Appétit.

You want to try real local indian food? Then you need to try the«Mamak» places around KL. This are very interested places and very cheep where you can have lunch, dinner or even breakfast. What is interested about this place is the fact that the stuff doesn’t always knows english so what you will oder may not be what you receive, or stuff may be missing from the order or receive some extra goodies. The food is good, is cooked with a lot of palm oil, so I don’t recommend to eat every single day here. For example, every Monday I have my lunch in the Mamak across the street from Menara UOA, Bangsar. The food here is spice and the meat is mainly chicken or vegetarian. My favourite dish is Butter chicken with Cheese Naan. My favourite dish in the night when I go clubbing is Cheese Naan with Susu. If you want to try how Malaysia tastes, you need to eat at least once at «Mamak». P. S. The place was recently renovated, and the service now is better and faster.
