Hometown steamboat is one of the most famous steamboat restaurants around. They can get pretty busy on weekends and it’ll be a fullhouse. I like their tom yam soup and i think the favour is just about right, its not too spicy and it has just the right amount of sweetness. They have a variety of different stuff that you can order to eat and boil in your soup. I usually get the tauhu’s, fishballs, vege’s, bacon, and some yee mee. The service here is good, very efficient. they even top up your soup for you before you ask. they also serve a yummy longan drink that you can order by the jug if you have a big group of people.

Hometown Steamboat is one of my favourite places to go to when I’m craving for steamboat. I usually got to the outlet in Puchong as it is nearer for me. Its always packed whenever I go and sometimes i’ll have to wait to get a seat. Make sure to go early if you want to et a seat. I love HomeTown because of their variety. The have so many items to choose from and all of the items they serve is very delicious. Also, the broth that they serve(clear soup/tomyam soup) is so full of flavour and it tastes really yummy. They also have a chocolate fondue for dessert which tastes really good in my opinion. The best part about HomeTown is that their pricing is very very reasonable. Most steamboat places are far more expensive. A must try for steamboat lovers!

Manjalara Kepong is one of a place that have more steamboat restaurant than other place I known so far, well, Hometown steamboat is going to be one of a steamboat restaurant that I am going to be super recommend because their options of food are variety and they are always packed with people! What is my favorite dessert is their chocolate fudge that come along with biscuits, two flavor of chocolate and fruits like banana, green apple in pieces and strawberry! it is so darn satisfying, so nice when you are gathering with your friends when you guys are having a reunion or something. Otherwise their broth for their steamboat is just normal chicken and tom yam broths that you usually seen from any other steamboat restaurant. there is more in the menu that I couldn’t get to explore, I would go back again and try out more food that shows in their menu!

Affordable for students and family. They have sets which are good for big groups and additional side orders. They also offer chocolate fondue and cheese fondue. The soup bases: Clear soup, tom yum, porridge and pumpkin soup.

There are so many steamboat restaurants in Jalan Menjalara, it is hilarious to see how many the residents here eat their meals by eating thru diluted soup and not-too-fresh meat. For Hometown, that is not the case. One of the major competitors for the other major steamboat outlets here, the broth they serve here can differ from your obligatory choice of diluted chicken/ma la soup to porridge. Yeah, porridge, the poor man’s choice to a healthy and highly fattening meal. While you may dip your meat into the highly discerning product that is the porridge, you might find yourself falling in love with the taste, and you might actually like it too much that you will think that porridge is the way to go for steamboats. Which is not. While it is tasty, Hometown still requires a certain flavor profile of certain people to really accentuate the uniqueness of this place. Just putting it out there, folks.

Hometown Steamboat is the last corner lot of Jalan 11/62A; home to a row of steamboat restaurants. I reached at about 20:30 and to my surprise it was not only very packed but there were still people waiting in line to be seated. But despite that, the turnover rate was quite high and we managed to get a table after waiting only about 5 – 10 minutes. We order two separate pots of steamboat; one for porridge — something that I experienced for the first time, using porridge for steamboat — and one for soup. However when it came, they gave us a single 2-in-1 pot. Nevertheless, this was solved without any hassle and they instantaneously served us the right order. We ate for about an hour and a half and returned home satisfied. All in all, it was a satisfying meal and all of us enjoyed it very much. The bill came up to about RM120 for five of us and I felt that it was quite worth it.
