Ah Cheng Laksa is a pretty commercialized laksa shop but still as good as your roadside stall. Every time you walk past this shop, just the smell of the amazing fish broth will tempt you to go in. I’ve caught myself having this at like random times of the day, just because the smell makes me salivate and I just need to have it! They have small bowls and bigger bowls so i usually have the smaller bowl since its in between meals(don’t judge me) The Laksa here of course is not as good as the one’s you find in Penang la but its pretty damn close! and I mean you’re not gonna drive don to Penang to appease an asam laksa craving right? so this is the next best place to fix that.

Ah Cheng Laksa is a popular food spot in KL Festival City Mall. It used to be a kiosk in the middle of second floor, due to the crowds it has now moved to a shop nearby the MBO cinema. You can smell the aroma of laksa broth from few shops away! Most people order its signature Asam laksa. The soup has a rich and flavourful taste with noodles, onion, vegetables, fish and herbs, you can add sauces for more flavours. Another specialty is its curry laksa, it tastes a bit spicy with coconut aroma and tauhu~ Both laksa come in junior and regular sizes. Nasi lemak ayam rendang is also available for people who are craving for rice. Besides, you can order pan mee soup if you prefer something with lighter taste. Ah Cheng Laksa also introduced set meal of noodle and drink with RM9.90. Well drink is a must for me especially with the curry laksa! However sometimes the drink might taste a bit too sweet so I will ask for more ice. Overall the regular portion is quite big so it’s valuable!

You’ll surely smell their laksa every time when you’re near or even you’re one floor down the place. The place itself appears to be quite humble and simple, as it’s not a full fledge restaurant — it’s more like a stall with seats extended outside the stall. However, I believe that most of us will not mind about the open area provided that they cook good food, right? Prices are very fair here, as it’s actually located in a mall. Taste wise, you’ll smell it — it smells really good, and the sourness in the aroma will make you drool. The laksa itself is really good too, sourness, saltiness, spiciness and sweetness are quite balanced for my tasting. The crowd could get a bit massive during peak hours though, but it’s usually not too hard to get a seat here, so no worries, as people usually don’t stay too long after they finish their meals here. Overall, okay environment, maybe not the best place to catch up with your friends, but definitely yes if you’re craving for good laksa, Worth trying!
