KL’s humidity has been my enemy for the past 3 months. And the only invention that helps me cope with this transition is my home AC. So imagine my dismay when I’ve found that the AC died on me. In the midst of what seems to be like the hottest week in KL, I got Mr. Lim’s number off my mum and spammed his phone line. Yes, I got very impatient when he failed to pick up my call the first time. After my fourth attempt he finally took my call, apologised calmly, and mentioned he was driving (heh). Brownie points for being so nice after my phone harassment.
Apparently he picked up on my urgency and arranged to repair my AC at the next available session — which is the following day. He popped by in the morning with two of his helpers and they got straight to work. Another brownie point for not wasting time. Hashtag efficiency! I got him to service two AC and repaired one. It took him no longer than two-​hours. I was pretty impressed with his servicing skills and professionalism. The only bit I was annoyed was the mess he and his helpers made.
It wasn’t after he left, I noticed he hadn’t completely repaired the AC. He managed to bring it back to life but with dripping water on its sides — totally not what I expected at all. So I rang him up the next day and we arranged for him to pop in when the weekend’s over. Lets just say I was very creative in trying to keep myself cool throughout that threateningly hot weekend. (I might have had stood in front of the fridge for quite sometime… to which I got into a bit of a trouble with my mom.)
Anyway, he fixed the AC within 15 minutes when he popped in the second time round. This time I was more careful and checked whether everything is in perfect condition before dismissing his service. He charged RM 200 per AC for his servicing fees. After doing a little bit of research, that seems to be the market price. Usually rates are charged based on the size of the AC’s motor and its service frequency. I think I can safely say my AC is of standard size but I don’t service it often. Hmm personally, I think it’s pretty cheap especially when I classify the overhead expense to my daily use.
Oh, and don’t bother dropping by into his office especially when you’re feeling lazy. Just give him a ring and he’ll arrange something for you — many (if not all) of his clients do so anyway.
