After 5+ years of regular dining at Thai Erawan, I guess it’s time I write a review. There are many Thai restaurants in the area, but after Erawan, I just plain don’t go. In fact, when I visit the states, I don’t want to eat Thai because I know I have the perfect dishes & flavors waiting for me when I get back to Yokosuka. I’m a bit guilty of sticking with my faves: the tom kar gai coconut chicken soup & the fried spring roll appetizer. I’ve since added the morning glory or collar greens to my order because the greens are so flavorful and there is a sprinkling of peanuts that remind me of tiny boiled peanuts only someone from America’s South(if Florida is indeed«the South») can find tastefully nostalgic. But truthfully, no dish has disappointed me or my friends/family. Erawan is also one of the few places that will make your food to-go. My son always asks for the pork soup and I carry it home in a double bag! Yes, I order the same thing when I come, but it’s pretty impressive that I can just sit down and the owner recognizes me and knows my spice level(zero) and that I’ll want a bottle of white wine. Delicious food and that sort of personal service? Wow! Yen only and closed most Wednesday’s.

A nice place for Thai food at the right price! The nearest Thai place was closed so we decided to walk a few blocks to Thai Erawan. Located around the corner from Yokosuka-Chuo station &2 floors above Ramen Kami-Buta. We were 5 minutes early. One of the workers saw us and invited us to come up. A tip in the middle of the review– Japanese elevators are different. If it says 5 people, it’s 5 Japanese people weighing 160lbs below. So foreigners may be 4. Our average weigh is a little higher. The elevator here is sensitive, beeps really loud and will not start if it is close to or at capacity. My last visit here a month ago we came here with a group of 12 and learned by experience. We eventually made it up after 5 mins… Dinning environment– The elevator opens up into the restaurant. We were politely greeted and seated. I like the Thai décor as you walk in. A nice and inviting atmosphere. I like sitting near the window. Good for large groups as well. The food– My go to lunch selection is the Green Curry set. If you’re not a hot head/spice monger like myself, go with a level 1 or 2. 3 is a great sweat. 4… You’re on your own buddy and it’s an extra charge. The set comes with a light salad, rice, a drink(I always get the Thai Iced Tea) and a dessert. I like their green curry. Nice chunks of tender chicken. The coconut milk helps make the spices enjoyable. Did I mention this set is ¥800? If you’re really hungry I’d recommend adding an order fried shrimp egg rolls. The service– Great! We didn’t wait long for the food or drinks. Water was always filled without asking. Glad to come back here again & again!

I’m no Thai expert but Wow. This place has their Thai food on point. The location is quite odd than what I’m used to and I think the elevator is a bit shady but once you’re there it feels secluded and inviting. Its a small joint but somehow they encourage big parties. They cater an open bar in their Menu and a la carte options. We had a Pad Thai and their fried rice. The Pad Thai was well balanced and what I expect it to be. Their fried rice… It had cranberry in it and somehow the flavor works. We were surprised on how everything worked well together. I had to add this to my review… I’m unsure if its uncommon in Japan but we shared 2 dishes and we had people looking at us. The dishes were pretty decent sizes and we really don’t care. It was really good and we can’t wait to go back to try something else!
