This is NOT the authentic 上林茶舖。I visited this place in Uji, at first I was thinking about buy matcha powder from them because the staff told me «we offer tax exemption price.» But after taste their tea, I changed my mind. Their matcha is BITTER. Way different from another tea shop which is attached to the tea museum. Therefore I eventually bought all the teas from 上林茶舖，which is the REAL 450 years historical tea shop. I tried the same style matcha from that shop and very surprised by their outstanding quality.
Few days later I traveled to Kyoto, they have another famous tea shop: marukyu-​koyamaen, 丸久小山園. I showed this picture to their manager and said I want try something like this, she stared at this picture for a minute and told me:“This is not our tea or product. The arrangement is wrong, and when you put two teas together, it will ruin the taste of matcha.” … This shop is the one won multiple tea ceremony rewards in Japan.
I will never go back to this place anymore.
