Towada offers freshly made soba noodles and there’s someone in the window making it as walk by. There’s a line but it moves fairly fast. It’s a two story restaurant and it’s right next to the Asakusa station. They have an English menus and set meals if you can’t decide. It’s kind of like asking a woman what she wants. What do you want? What dooo you want?!? I went with the cold soba noodles instead of the hot soba. The texture was chewy and pretty brittle as you chew on the noodles. The tsuyu sauce was good and provided a sweet refreshing flavor to the soba. It was a perfect carb load for a hot day of walking around in a Japan. The meal included a bowl of rice and two shrimp tempura. The rice was served with a sweet soy sauce. The tempura wasn’t crunchy or crispy and a bit soggy. However, it was still pretty good. The meal wasn’t overly filling like Italian pasta. In addition, the serving size was pretty small and was expected with every meal in Japan. Maybe I should start reevaluating my portion size to lose weight… Overall, Towada was a good quick meal in the forever busy area of Asakusa. They don’t take credit cards so be prepared to bring cash. Be prepared to make it rain. Be prepared to hit the door running if you can’t pay for the meal.
