Like their sign says, it’s going to be fun at Fungo, especially if you are a foodie from the U.S. who wants some modern cuisine with a Japanese twist. Apparently my colleagues had been here before and found it good enough to go back, with all of the choices that you have in Tokyo. Upon entering you find a cozy, farmhouse café atmosphere. There are charming paintings on the wall and shelves with books and bottles of wine. Booths and tables ring the room, and there is seating at the bar where you can look right into the kitchen. The wine and cocktail list is extensive. Then menu consists of a number appetizers and salads, a dozen main meat dishes, and many pasta dishes. I started with a salad of a variety of roasted vegetables that came with a tasty vinaigrette. My main dish was duck that was served in a berry sauce. Both were beautiful to look at and very, very tasty. My colleagues had crème brûlée for dessert, but they also serve chocolate gâteau, fromage blanc, etc. With the charming atmosphere, delicious food, and gracious service, it felt like one of my favorite farm-to-table restaurants at home. It should be mentioned that the group owns other restaurants in the area that would be worth trying! See the business cards at the front counter.

Definitely come here for lunch! My review is based off a spontaneous but delightful luncheon experience since dinner is expensive and I wasn’t willing to pay that much. I live nearby and always see a lot of people dining at Fungo when I’m heading to the super market. Like, really, Fungo is always poppin’. The lunch menu is really affordable considering that it comes with an entrée, a drink, and a buffet style salad bar for only ¥1000!(¥ 2500 with soup and dessert and something else) As for the entrée, you get to choose from a wide selection of risotto, pasta, and meat. Salad bar includes your leafy greens, tuna, corn, red onions, anti-pasta, seaweed, bread, and olive oil! Boy am I a sucker for bread and olive… The food was pretty good for the price, but it was the salad bar that captured my heart *heart eyes* Will come back sometime when I’m feeling like carbing up. Yay, unlimited bread and olive oil! If I remember correctly, there’s English on the menu as well!

F is for friends who eat things together O is for Oliver and me O is also for Oliver’s an alcoholic D is for drinking anywhere and anytime at all Right in the land of the rising sun! Anyway, I decided to settle down and have a nice, relaxing meal with some wine. The waiter is very attentive and patient when I’m figuring out what I’d like to eat. I decided to get some noodle based dishes and they came out fantastic. The wine too is great, and I love how the restaurant’s decorated. Overall a great restaurant with fantastic wine!

After leaving the safe confines of my nearby hotel for the first time, the first thing on my mind was food. But here I was, in Japan, not able to speak or read the language, and I needed to eat. As luck would have it, this place was in my path as I aimlessly strolled around looking for somewhere to eat. Thankfully, the waiter who greeted us also spoke a bit of English. He gave us a menu and informed us that there was a salad bar up top that came included with every meal. I helped myself to some greens and piled on the toppings; everything was great, especially the sesame dressing. I had a pork dish and rice for lunch. It was well seasoned and delicious. The waiter was very attentive, making sure our waters were full and asking if we needed help with anything since we clearly weren’t from the area.

A nice little wine bar/restaurant. It has a wide selection of wines from all over the world so if you’re a wine lover. The food is nice but a little pricy. I went on a Friday night and they seemed quite under staffed though. For a cheese plate it took about 40min and they forgot some of our orders. But they did give us complimentary focaccia for the trouble. In general it has a lovely atmosphere and nice wines! Enjoy!
