The Friet is a cute little spot on a side street near Hiroo station. You can order a box or a «flower.» Then you pick the fry cut(curly fries were awesome) and your choice of salt, garlic salt or no salt. Then you get to choose the dipping sauce. My fiancé had the fresh ketchup which seemed fresh indeed; it was a bit tangy, too. I, of course, ordered the cheesy sauce, which did not disappoint. With the box option, you could opt for chicken, sausage, shrimp or fish. We tried the chicken and shrimp. Both tasty. We had two of the three seats and window watched the walkers. Nice spot. Tasty and trendy. Score in Hiroo!

Monday 3PM: No line! 5 step french fry shop with 3 seats. Choose your size, type of cut, type of potato, salt and dip. We asked for their most popular and ended up with the belgian friet straight cut with herb salt and mayonnaise dip. Triple mixing cheese is the second most popular dip. The large flower size was 730 yen and came with a small pickle. This was the perfect size for one person. The fries were crispy and very lightly salted. Although they were probably the best fries I have ever had, it’s hard for me to be ok with spending 730 yen on some fries(and maybe a long line/wait as well)

I went on a cold wet day and there was no line. I ordered the Japanese cut with herb salt and cheese. I’m not a big mayo fan … But I may need to try mayo next time. I’m glad I didn’t wait 3 hours like some people did on these reviews I wouldn’t have been happy. But for a quick snack on a rainy day…

This place serves up some awesome fries /friets. This is pretty much all they do, so don’t come hoping to get something other than fries. You’ll have a choice or type of potato, cut and dipping sauce. This small shop is near the Hiroo metro station. This is a very small shop, with only 3 stools and a small bench outside. Be prepared for long lines and wait times of 20 – 30 minutes or more at this popular spot.

Cannot believe myself spent more than 100 minutes for lining up the ‘And the Friet’!! But it’s worth a try! Yummy! ‘And the Friet’ is a small cute Belgium potatoes specialist shop, offering the famous Belgium bintje potatoes in three kinds of cuts and various Japanese potatoes including sweet potatoes and purple potatoes. The order is complicated, but the waiters explained smartly with a smartly-designed menu. I was thinking of explaining it but I bet you’ll get it as soon as you are there. We heard the side dish is seriously yummy too, so we decided to order three big boxes — especially after a 90-minute wait, we were starving! Btw, the boxes are well designed and cute too. We order three kinds of potatoes: ‘bintje’ country cut, petite ball Friet, and curly cut Friet since all the other 6 kinds were all sold out and it was only 4pm(you see how popular And the Friet is). And we chose the handmade tomato sauce and winter limited anchovy sauce which is heavenly yummy and goes perfectly with the crispy fries! Of course the tomato sauce is totally different from the supermarket canned ketchup, it’s herb-based, and not too watery. We also chose bean croquette, popcorn shrimp, and fried chicken, and all goes perfectly with the dip. I highly recommend their dip and gonna go back to try all of them next time. I personally enjoyed the petite ball Friet with the anchovy sauce most. They really has the best fries and best dip! The potatoes are crispy outside and well-cooked inside. They stayed delicious and crispy even after 3 hours. If you are a potato fan like me, you cannot miss it!
