This was definitely one of the most unreal temples I’ve ever experienced. I left with no words. It was a weird, not bad, but weird energy going through me. Tamagawa Daishi is kind of hidden and slightly hard to find. This place is also known as Buddha’s intestines. Futako-Tamagawa station on the Tokyo Den-en-Toshi line. Take the west exit. When you walk up to the temple and go to the right, you’re met with different statues and what not. When you walk inside, that’s where the fun begins. Or maybe fear. You let the employees know that you want to go down further into the temple. It’s 100 Yen per person, and you must take off your shoes. They give you sandals to wear. They let you know that it is COMPLETELY pitch black down inside, and you cannot use your phones or anything for light. Part of the experience, yknow? It’s really narrow navigating through, and you’re told to use your right hand to guide you through the intestines. I was really scared. Not being able to see anything and having to move through these really narrow halls is not m thing. When I say narrow, I mean narrow. We were going through turns left and right, and then you finally see this light coming closer and closer. When we got to the light. it was, I was speechless. I don’t want to ruin the experience, but you just see a lot of things lined up together. Unreal. If you have time to come here, I suggest you do.
