So much hype, agh. Echoing other reviews I’ve seen on here, I will admit that trying to find the location of this café(especially as someone not from this area) is an adventure in itself. When I finally got there — in the same place as a McDonald’s and a Sukiya, you go through a sliding door, a long tunnel, go up some stairs, enter through another door, take more stairs up and you’ll be in front of the entrance. Now, the low rating is due in part to the fact that my standards were very up there for this place, especially since the entrance was so elaborate. However, to be brief — it’s a dimly-lit place with a pretty bland menu. Nothing particularly special about it. It is no longer a secret place either — the place was pretty packed on a Monday afternoon, so the cat is certainly out of the bag. I ordered a cold café latte for about 550 yen — pretty pricey if you ask me, especially for something so ordinary. Since it was just me, they also sat me at the counter, where I was face-to-face with the wall and was not able to take in the ambiance. Note that I am pretty café-spoiled, so I might be too critical of Café Haven’t We Met Opus. Perhaps if you live in Sendai, this might be a cool little spot to meet up with friends every once in a while. But as someone who is just visiting, it probably would’ve been better for me to explore different parts of Sendai instead.

One of the coolest cafes in Sendai. Haven’t we met? Perhaps, but likely not at Café Haven’t We Met Opus in Sendai. Not too many people can find the café. Only cool people know where it is. Do you want to know how to find it? I need to test to see if you are cool first, so let me give you a quiz. At a sushi bar, of the two choices below, which would you consider ordering as your first piece? A. Fatty tuna(O-toro) B. Hirame(halibut) If you chose A as your answer, please stop reading this review. You are not cool enough to go to Café Haven’t We Met Opus. No, we never met, sorry. I recommend heading to Veloce If you chose B, please keep reading. Finding this café is half of the fun. From the famous shopping arcade, identify«Sukiya», a chain Gyu-don place. You will find a sliding door next to Sukiya. There is a sign that reads«Café Haven’t We met Opus.» Go through the sliding door, then walk through the long hall way. Go up the stairs to ground level, go out the door. You will find a stair case to the right. Go up. From here, you will finally see the entrance to the café. Inside, you will find a cozy café. The décor is very simple, using wood tables and floor. A white gas stove near the entrance provides a really warm atmosphere. Coffee: It was a cold day and my throat was a bit dry, so I tried their honey cappuccino. The sweetness was just right and it really warmed me up. Since we had an appointment, I had to carry it out. Next time, I would love to spend more time at this café, soaking in the atmosphere and possibly eat one of their sweets selections. If you are feeling adventurous, I highly recommend checking this café out. Most importantly, if you been even just once, you are not in the«cool» crowd. If someone is talking about this café, you can say, YES I BEENTHERE! I also want to try their first branch, which is called«Café Haven’t We met».
