I had the Pici Mushroom Pasta and Spezzatino con patate entrées and a side of sautéed spinach. The portions are small, so you will probably want to order both a primi and secondi dish for dinner. Both entrées were very delicious and as wonderful as anything I had at a more expensive restaurant. The sautéed spinach was too salty though and probably best to avoid. After several days of dining at fancy, high-end restaurants with friends that I was traveling with, it was a relief to take a break and eat something simpler and less complicated at this quaint little osteria near St. Catherine’s Sanctuary. My stomach forgave me for all the exotic gamey meats it had to endure earlier in the week. La Chiacchiera offers Italian comfort food at its best. You’ll leave replenished and satisfied in a way that only a hearty, simple meal can offer.

Went here on a recommendation from our b&b host and arrived at 11:45 am. We were turned away as they open at 12 pm so we took a stroll at the below saint Catherine museum. Once we arrived we were sat side by side because we were told we would have to «share» a table but no one ever showed up to share. My wife had spaghetti with pesto and I had the penne Pomodoro both cost about 6 €. They give you a medium amount of food but if you’re really hungry you’ll want more. Had the house red and it was pretty good! Our server was kind and spoke English which helped us out although the menu is all in Italian with no translation available. Cool seating outside if you want a street view and can withstand heat. Visit here for some authentic Italian at a fair price.

Very friendly wait staff and delicious meal. The street terrace seating was nice, with small children playing hide and go seek in the nearby neighborhood. The penne arrabiatta was delicious as suggested by the waitress. The chicken was phenomenal. A worthy experience in Siena, a wonderful little town.

So good! Friendly service and great food. A bit off the beaten path, but you will recognize it by the strange tables altered to be on the hill. After finding it for dinner, I came back for lunch before leaving Siena. Nice Wi-fi as well!

We loved this place. Great food, great wine and very friendly service. We asked for Pici cacio pepe and they made it for us. The antipasti plate for 9 € was huge and very tasty. Only three tables inside. Great place! Will definitely come back.

A couple minutes off the main road. Maybe that’s why the price is reasonable. The pork chop with potato and tomato source is one of best I’ve even got. I strongly recommend it.

Really cozy and affordable place! They only have 3 tables inside and maybe 4 outside so expect communal seating. The food was delicious and homemade. We started with the Tuscan antipasti which included various salamis and pâté crostini. Then moved on to a tagliatelle with mushrooms and sausage and the regional ribollita soup. Finished off our meal with pork ribs and potatoes in tomato sauce. I wanted to try their«tiramisu» which was called zuppa inglese which sounded like a tiramisu trifle, but they were sold out. With a liter of house red and water out total bill came out to € 33!

This was among the best meals in Italy to date. Home made food by folks who are proud of what they do and the ingredients they use. Moderately priced — and a good value in Siena. Off the beaten path and out of the bustle of the traffic to and from the Campo. Great find — highly recommended!

This restaurant consistently served the best food I had during my three weeks traveling through Italy. I tried new restaurants every day, from Venice to Naples, and found nothing that could compare with the simple authenticity and quality of the food here. My favorite dishes were Penne Arrabiata and Arista Al Forno. Arrabiata is spicy tomato sauce with crushed red pepper flakes, and the dish is served with fresh grated parmesan cheese. Arista Al Forno is basically a pork chop, but I have no idea what makes it so delicious. I’m not even normally a huge fan of pork, but this is one of my favorite dishes period. This food, the town, and the atmosphere are exactly what I hoped to find on a trip to Italy. The menu is al a carte and you can easily find yourself spending more than you intended, but the prices are extremely reasonable. The larger items are 7 – 8 euros, while many of the smaller dishes are 3 – 5 euros, and unlike many other restaurants, the house wine and sparkling water are also priced well. I doubt you can go wrong with anything on the menu, but if you find yourself anywhere near Siena, you owe it to yourself to order Arista Al Forno here. I will definitely be returning to Osteria La Chiacchiera every time I find myself in Italy.
