We live in Roma and have tried lots of restaurants in the area. This is probably one of the best pizzas we have had so far… Extremely thin and tasteful. The service was good and very quick. They also serve burgers(however we did not try them).

Great service and awesome pasta! Also the prices are very good. Right next to the Vatican. Thank you Unilocal for helping us make the right decision every time!

Amazing Cacce de Peppe, delicious pizza, wonderful inexpensive local wines. Liked it so much we returned a second night!

They get a star for the aforementioned hand written wine list which I thought boded of other good things to come(and of course that is the minimum rating available). But from then on… Absolute fail. Terrible. Worst meal I have ever had in this country. What I would expect to get in a bad Italian restaurant in Boise Idaho run by a failed potato farmer whose experience with Italian cooking consisted of having Domino’s pizza once as a kid. Just goes to show you 7 nearly perfect reviews can be dead wrong. Had the grilled squid which had zero grilled flavor much less any grill marks — probably just roasted or broiled. And the squid itself especially the tentacles tasted fishy and old, not fresh at all. The first dish in my numerous trips to Italy EVER that I didn’t finish because I simply didn’t like it. For il primo I had the risotto al mare. Whoops. Bad call. This dish made me truly embarrassed for the chef. I think the guy from Idaho made this one. I rarely ever get risotto at a restaurant because I feel it has to be made from start to end on the spot and served immediately when finished. Brutal reminder of this last night. Dish was served with liquid in the bottom of the bowl, no velvety creaminess to it whatsoever and the grains were a few minutes shy of proper al dente-ness. Oh and speaking of the rice — hey cooking person in the kitchen: try using ARBORIO rice in your risotto next time. Are you kidding me? This was made with a regular grain white rice I mean cmon man. Shameful. At least use some orzo so us dumb Americans will still be fooled into thinking it’s something foreign. Of course I should have returned it but realized the pie was already in my face and I had fallen victim to what is obviously just a tourist trap meant to lure in unsuspecting and unknowledgeable(and over generously reviewing) diners. If there were an Italian restaurant inspector general charged with maintaining the authenticity and quality of their cuisine I would report this place as being a fraud. And deport the chef back to Idaho. Please all Rome visitors go to the Trastevere area to eat it’s well worth the time and walk there. No wait don’t, you might take my table.

After a long day of sightseeing, we stopped for lunch at this eatery that was a stone’s throw from St. Peter’s square. The food was DIVINE(no pun intended). I had the penne al arrabiata and my husband had spaghetti cacio e pepe. Both are dishes local to Rome, and both were the tastiest meals we had in Rome(I had a few bites of my husband’s pasta.) Shockingly, everything on the menu was reasonably priced. The pasta entrees were about 8 – 9 euros, whereas the other restaurants to which we had gone had comparable pasta entrees for 12 – 15 euros. The thing about Rome is, because it is a very NYC-like touristy international city, it’s easy to be pulled into awful tourist trap restaurants. Believe me, Rome had its fair share of gross overpriced food. But Perdicibacco was not it. You know they were making the pasta fresh because it took a while to bring the food out, and the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. For dessert, we had a white chocolate mascarpone homemade cake, and I didn’t know such deliciousness existed. My mouth is now watering just thinking about it. :) And to boot, the staff was friendly and attentive. I promise you, you won’t regret eating here. I wanted to eat everything on the menu.

Perfect. Glad we took other Unilocalers’ advice and ate here. Started with carpaccio which was perfectly seasoned and fresh. We both decided on pasta. Spaghetti aio with chili oil and rigatoni with fresh tomato and buffalo mozzarella and chili. So reasonable at only 8 € each dish. I also had a green salad which was fresh and simple. 2 beers and a glass of cabernet sauvignon to round out the meal. Tip and tax are included. 52 € and we were pleasantly full. We will be back

We were told about this place by our driver who took us into Rome from the cruise ship terminal«It’s owned by my friend» he said. So we had to try it. It is within easy reach of the Vatican– so close, in fact, that you can see the colonnades of St. Peter’s square from the sidewalk tables. But’s on the side of St. Peter’s that tourists rarely venture, and as such it’s at the edge of a residential neighborhood and so you are just as likely to be sitting with locals as you are with tourists. The wine list is thoughtfully constructed, and focuses on local wines. Likewise, the menu features many roman pasta specialities such as spaghetti with cheese and pepper, carbonara, and a few riffs on the local specials as well. The house red(rosso) was very acceptable and a steal. Our pasta dishes were all cooked properly al dente, and were flavored with just enough sauce to transmit the flavor, but at the same time allowed you to taste the pasta itself. As my wife pointed out, you could taste every ingredient. We had dinner for 5 for just over 100 Euros– pretty decent for a big city. A nice alternative to the tourist restaurants.

Great little place. Spaghetti Ajo & Oja was amazing. I would highly recommend it. It’s a perfect blend of roasted garlic, hot pepper and olive oil, simply amazing. This is a dish I will be dreaming about. I’ve already been informed by my wife that I need to learn to to make this.

Americani in Rome… Loved the hand written wine list. Affordable house wine but also more pricey bottles if you’re looking for something special. Had the lasagna and it was great. Not too heavy but lots of flavor. Polite service. Yum!
