This was the best meal I had in Rome. The service was great, and the food was especially umami. We ordered the antipasto del marre, penne arrabiata, ricotta and spinach ravioli with an espresso and tiramisu to end our meal. Everything came up to 47 euro. This place does not overcharge you unlike very many restaurants in Rome that have recommendations from popular tourist books. It was an authentic Italian meal. If I come back to Rome I’m going to eat here every day.

DISAPPOINTINGLYTOURISTY. One might expect that restaurants in a touristy area might serve adequate meals and offer adequate service, as was the case here. In our 4-day tour of Rome, this was the first adequate place at which we ate. The other restaurants were above average and not at all touristy. The cheesy interior wall murals were disenchanting — something one might see in Los Angeles. There is nothing authentic about this place. After chatting up some of the other patrons, it was brought to light that boutique hotels in that area highly recommend this restaurant to their guests for dinner. A-ha! Now, I understand why it was so crowded. The pizza was overcooked to the point of not being able to bite into it and separate a piece to chew in one’s mouth. The crust; like rubber. The ravioli was just… adequate. Unremarkable and without flavor. While friendly, the staff was eager for us to make our exit, as there were many other(unsuspecting) patrons vying for free tables. We promptly did so.

Great little eatery that we stumbled upon on accident at the edge of Via del Boschetto. We stopped in for a heavy lunch and were not disappointed. I had the saltimbocca and my wife had the cacio e pepe, both of which were fantastic. The saltimbocca in particular was delicious. We also had the house wine and prosciutto with melon, which were both tasty. The food was a bit heavily seasoned/sauced and there were admittedly a lot of tourists there, but I wasn’t disappointed. As we discovered later, this restaurant is highly recommended if you read up on the Monti area. This was a great, reasonably priced meal that I would recommend to any friend visiting Rome.

An absolute hidden gem. We went twice and loved the food. The pizzas are posted on a separate menu. We loved both the spicy sausage and the mushroom selections. The oxtail melts in your mouth. The eggplant Parmesan is wonderfully cheesy. The veal Parmesan was good.

Hmm, so first hand let me tell you I have something against tourist trap restaurants, and this is one of them. You can tell the moment you walk in and see the kitsch painting of the Colosseum in a field of flowers on a wall. But hey, I was with a group of friends and we were starving so we gave it a try. First off, the menu is mainly focused on sea food, although it also has standard Italian fare. So I ordered a plate of gnocchi in tomato sauce, and my HB some fettuccine Alfredo which you would think being in Rome has to be delicious, well you’re wrong!!! Both our dishes we’re completely bland and flavorless. Since we were 8 we ordered 2 bottles of the house wine, one red and one white, they were OK, just standard house wine. When you are done they present you with a plate of concrete hard biscotti which I almost chipped a tooth with, and by the way they scoop out of a plastic bag with their hands in front of you. Soo bottomline, save your money and go some place else.

Wow, my husband and I loved everything about our dinner here. We ordered a bottle of the house white wine which was delicious, followed by 2 mixed green salads(just don’t ask for dressing, they will not know what you are talking about… we used oil & vinegar instead). I had the penne all’arrabbiata(penne in a spicy tomato sauce) which was amazing… tons of flavor and just the right amount of heat. My husband had the classic fettuccini alfredo, which was also delicious. At the end of our meal the extremely friendly owner brought us some complimentary shots of some unknown liquor… fruity but interesting. I would definitely recommend going to this place at least once while in town. Prices were extremely reasonable too!

Location: In Monti, off Via Nazionale. The place: Old-school décor makes for an ‘adult’ vibe. Like most restaurants in Italy, they offer tables both indoors and outdoors — but come early as outdoor seating goes fast. As such, I was seated inside. The food: They offer a varied menu but I only ordered Gnocchi al Pomodoro. The Gnocchi had a good consistency, leaving them doughy but not chewy. These were not heavy at all so I was able to finish off my meal without feeling like a giant turd. The Pomodoro sauce was nice, and had a hint of butteriness to it. Not acidic at all. All of that said, my dish was rather lukewarm — it could have been hotter. So, overall, I like the dish but I wasn’t blown away by it. Based on the Trip Advisor and Unilocal reviews, I expected to love this place but sadly it was a bit of a miss for me. Service: Miss. I didn’t particularly get the warm and fuzzies from these guys. They seemed somewhat indifferent and didn’t go out of their way to be friendly. When I paid, the waitress seemed pissed off. I have no idea what the hell that was about. Price point: Budget friendly. It cost me about 14 € for the pasta and a litre of water. Of course, this place charged the coperto as well.

This place was great to eat! The food was nice and fresh and the wine cheap! 12 € for a bottle! We had 2 pasta plates, water, wine, and bread all for 36 €! Definitely a nice place that I’d reccomend.

Great food and amazing desserts. We are there twice during our four days in Rome, even though we wanted to sample as many restaurants as we could while we were there. We just couldn’t help it. It was so good. I had the sphagetti. Very good. We had several pasta dishes with seafood. All were very good as well. For dessert, I had to have the chocolate whatever-it’s-called, kind of like cream filled dumplings. Whatever it was, it was very good. Finally, though, the coup d’état was the cream cake. It was a layered pastry cake that we could not get enough of. The only reason I did not give five stars to this place is that the staff was not terribly friendly, though not unfriendly by Italian standards. At least the prices were better than Venice.

Great food, quiet little street for eating out side. The service was super friendly. Definitely check it out if you’re in the neighborhood.

Ate here on a Sunday afternoon in 2005 for a friend’s Birthday — the food, the service, its proximity to the Trevi Fountain, overall everything was excellent. I would have given 5 stars, but after leaving a 20% gratuity(la Mancia) like a fool, and never receiving the recipe for the Tiramisu as promised by the waiter, I felt a little jipped… ;(Not like I am going to take that recipe and share it with anyone, I live in Chicago haha Ho lasciato una mancia per 20% ma no non ho ricevuto la ricetta per il Tiramisu — il Cameriere non mai ritornato alla tavola ;(Perche no?

This was a backup plan for us as the restaurant we wanted to go to was closed. We went in with high expectations given the 4-star rating. The ham and mozzarella platter was great but the rest of the food was just OK. The eggplant parm was over cooked and the house wine was a bit too acidic.

We ended up at this place after calling seven other places to find they were closed on the Roman bank holiday. This place delivers in all the small ways that makes a great meal. I’ll be honest though, my experience with the food was mixed; the prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella was delicious followed by pasta courses that were decent. The servings were large, which to me and my starved husband– were ideal. The fettuccine alfredo was a bit rich and overly buttery but the linguini pesto had a perfect sauce.(The pasta was a little less al dente than preferred, however.) It was followed by the absolute best eggplant parmigiano I have ever had. Melt in your mouth gooey-ness cheesy delight that was steaming hot. If you go there, you HAVETOORDERTHIS. I was forced to protect my meal from my greedy husband who ordered less than delicious osso bucco(the sauce was good, but the meat was chewy and gamey.) We found ourselves too full to order dessert, which should say something about the meal, but we were brought complimentary limoncello and biscotti. The limoncello was frosty cold and some of the best I have had. It was also INCREDIBLY affordable– all that food, plus a bottle of wine for 60 euro. There was also a gentleman there who had been on holiday in Rome for a month and said he had been there almost every night! BOTTOMLINE: Go— and enjoy large portions and quality food for cheap.

Friendly staff and good food at very reasonable prices, this restaurant is a great value for families and couples in Rome. We ate there three times during our recent vacation. Everything we ordered was good.

Our hotel staff recommended this restaurant to us. We almost didn’t go because it didn’t have 4 stars on Unilocal, our normal standard. The place is large. The staff is friendly. The food was wonderful. And the prices were reasonable. I would definitely go back! 12 euro for a bottle of wine, 5 euro for the best minestrone soup I’ve ever had. It was filled with fresh vegetables and noodles. My fiancé had the spaghetti with meat sauce and he loved it. We were both so full after the first course we could have stopped there, but didn’t — of course. Definitely give them a try! And come hungry.

We went here because it looked welcoming to families, as we were visiting Rome with our 3 kids(aged 11, 8, &6) — indeed it was, with most of the tables at 7pm containing at least one child(and they open at 6 for dinner, a rarity in Rome), and patient waitstaff willing to put up with a bit of childish antics. But this is no «family restaurant» with mediocre food & distracting décor. It’s an excellent Italian trattoria, with a good selection of pastas, meats, and the like. We can recommend the Linguine with Pesto, Cacio e Pepe pasta, ravioli, and Grilled Lamb, plus the Tiramisu. Reasonably priced for Rome, and great service means that we’ll be coming back!
