On our first night in Rome we read the reviews of this great place on Unilocal and we weren’t disappointed. The food is simply great and the service is even better. The wine that the waiter recommended was superb and supplemented the dished(Spaghetti Carbonara and Cacio e Pepe) elegantly. If the rest of our week in Rome will be like this, we’re in for a real treat. Go there!

Authentic Italian cuisine serving exceptionally good food. The Cacio e Pepe is really great; in the dolce segment the mousse with red berries and apple crumble is fabulous. Wash down your meal with an awesome Coda di Volpe. This is a great, little Osteria just off the Colosseum.

Agitated server. Long lapse of time between app and main course. Medicore food. I’d personally pass on this spot. We had been exploring for most of the morning in the Colloseum area, so we used Unilocal to find a close restaurant with good ratings. When we walked up, it looked cute with just a couple streetside tables left. We were seated at one close to the door where we had a great view of all their award stickers. Apparently they’ve been feted by several important publications over the years, so maybe we just hit them on an off-day. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara(when in Rome.) for my meal, and it wasn’t very good. While I liked it more than the one I had in Sicily, it was pretty eggy in a bad way. Despite not being a huge portion, I had to leave some of it behind because I couldn’t deal with the taste anymore. We didn’t try dessert, so I can’t comment on that.

If you’re looking for a quiet restaurant, with delicious fresh ingredients, this is it. It was close to our hotel and the reviews weren’t wrong with how good it was. Very authentic Italian cuisine. While this is my first trip to Italy, the dishes reminded me of those my Italian family would make. The wine recommendations were great, and any waiter that will both patiently listen to my attempts at Italian and help my wife in English is fantastic in my book.

Was great last night. My grandmother and I enjoyed very much. Close to our apartment, and nice building. Translated menu helped. My grandmother said she would recommend the veal! :)

Prefect low key place for great appetizers, pastas, desserts, and other dishes. Quintessential quality Roman food. My favorite place in Rome.

Severely disappointed… the other reviewers must have been eating at a different place. Sure, the menu was in Italian, but the clientele was all tourists. What really matters, though, is the food was bland and uninspired. The cheese and meet sampler was pretty good. The primi pasta dishes we had — Carbonara sauce on one and the other a «pesto» — had almost no flavor whatsoever. We were looking for some condiments of any kind, but none to be found… no oil and salt with our bread, either. The secondi of a steak in olive oil was darn good and saved the meal form being a real disaster. For Dolce, the cannoli was different — the shell was made from a pastry crust, rather than the more typical sweet and crispy shell. I will say that the service was quite good. The service was prompt, pleasant, patient. The price would have been quite reasonable if the food was any good. When in Rome, eat somewhere else.

One of the best meals we had in Rome. Friendly staff, nice seating inside and out. Delicious pasta and steak, the dessert was perfect as well. Definitely worthy walking an extra block or two away from the colosseum for.

Thank you Unilocal!I have been in Rome for 3 days and everywhere u went had poor choice of wine… and pizza. Love pizza but wanted something more. I was walking around the colosseum and stopped in La Biga because it was raining. Quickly checked Unilocal and decided against eating there… just one beer(for 6 Euro). Glad I decided to take a chance and walk over to this place. Ordered a bottle of great Brunello, had nice prosciutto app and Carbonara for dinner. Excellent! And much less expensive than most places around the area. Definitely worth it!!!

Excellent! One block from collesium. Not the most lively neighborhood but we took metro to colleseo stop, walked here and then enjoyed the walk around the collesium after dinner. Great pasta, the veal Marsala was fabulous. Excellent service! Can’t go wrong here!

This was really a wonderful meal. I loved that the menu was only available in Italian. Our waiter, Pietro, explained everything, made recommendations, and was so attentive. We had an Amatriciana which was excellent, a fusilli with a pepper pesto and a fettuccine with a white meat sauce. All were excellent. We also had a few of the desserts(delicious) and a litre of wine. The prices were right(€ 67 for three people) the service was excellent and the food the best we have had in Rome! Thank you for a wonderful meal!

Good but felt a bit pricy. The bread with olive oil amd salt was very nice. The pasta was very nice but the meat I had did not taste much. I believe the food is authentic roman and maybe we should have ordered something else from the menu and just had bad luck. But all in all from our experience it was three stars.

Still hungry after the rice pie, we walked by this place. We saw fried anchovies for $ 6. We had to tried it. It was so good with lemon juice and salt. The price was a little high but acceptable.

From antipasti to dessert, You can experience real Rome. Actually I was afraid of this restaurant due to lack of reviews. However it was unnecessary concern. I strongly recommend carbonara & tiramisu!!! Other than these two manus, they are also not bad.

close to our hotel and more authentic than any restaurant we’ve tried in Rome. I knew from the mines I tried the breadbasket we were probably safe because it was finally good bread. A great variety of foods. The menu is all in Italian which may make you shy of going but the waiters did an excellent job of translating and if you use the link here to go to their website before you go, you can read their menu in your language. Make reservations because they are busy! They are located in a quiet but happening little wine area near Capo D’africa. The antipasti was wonderful for our large table and the cheesecake was delicious. Not heavy NY style but dense Italian style. My kids were in love with the torte de cioccolato. Very relaxed atmosphere and very welcoming. Other restaurants you get the feeling you are being tolerated. Grazie Tanto il Bocconcino. :)

Just had the spaghetti carbonara and it was excellent! Al dente pasta, smoky guanicale bacon, and perfectly seasoned with cracked black pepper. Service is excellent. Wine selected by my waiter very good. Although close to tourist attractions not a tourist trap. Very high quality and great taste of authentic Rome!

Very good Italian restaurant. Does have the guts to make a real tasty Tripa. The ‘ris de veau’ made in various styles is delicious. Of course they also have the ordinary food/meals. Recommended

Very very good authentic Italian restaurant. Very close from the colosseum but not«too touristic» at all. We went there twice during our stay.

Nette Trattoria gleich hinter dem Colloseum. Nicht touristisch bei gutem Essen und fairen Preisen. Echt zu empfehlen.

Favorite restaurant in Rome for three reasons: 1. Real Roman cuisine: veal, pastas, salumi, cheeses, amaro… all the good stuff! my favorite dishes were the bucatini al’amatriciana(bacon and tomato sauce) and the zabaigione with marsala wine — anything you order here will be good. 2. Locals mostly, but tourist friendly: the menu is only in Italian, but all the waiters speak English 3. Atmosphere is relaxed for a group, couple or dining solo(did that a few times too!) I was so happy with all of my choices — this is the place to go if you are near the Colosseo. Skip the tourists traps by the bus stop and come here instead!
