Food was excellent. Fastest service I have ever experienced in Italy at an Indian restaurant — usually they take sooooo long to take your order and get the food to the table. Don’t get the mango lassi — it was too watery and not worth the money.

Guys the food here is unbelievable. I couldn’t believe that I can find a real taste of Indian food in Italy. The food was so good

Given we are in Rome and not many Indian restaurants around, this place provides some good food. Though the décor and place is not to my taste but the services was good and quick. Lamb was cooked well and so the chicken starters. Overall pretty decent experience.

Quite good Indian food and good service. Typical plates were around 10 €, got a multi course thing that was 25 €, would recommend if you want the variety. Kind of a sketchy neighborhood if you’re easily spooked, honestly not too bad though. Owner was quite friendly.

We had a great meal. It was such a nice change up from all the pizza and pasta. The only downside is the location, but it is truly worth the visit.

Maybe I’ve been spoiled by all the great Indian restaurants in New York but this place is not up to par. After a week of Italian I just wanted to try a different cuisine. The food isn’t bad but I’ve had better. The only dish I liked out of the 4 different dishes we ordered was the butter chicken. It was aromatic but wasn’t too overpowering. Everything else was overly salty. The curry fish and the tandoori grill platter was so salty it wasn’t even edible. On the other hand service was good the waiter was very accommodating. I told him the dish was too salty and he was kind enough to bring it back. Unfortunately the new dish he brought out was just as salty. I think I’ve learned my lesson, when in Italy just stick to Italian food.

Caught a craving for something other than pasta or pizza at 11pm on a Monday and this place was right around the corner from our hotel. Definitely was not disappointed.

I came early for dinner, and I was the only person in the restaurant. I was greeted warmly, and the service overall was good. The décor was a little overdone, but I thought it was pretty in its own way. There was no complementary papadum, which was disappointing. I ordered the mango mutton, which was quite tasty and had a nice taste of mango. I was craving vegetables, so I ordered the curried zucchini. This is an unusual combination(in my experience), but it was very nicely cooked with the zucchini having a perfect tenderness without being mushy. The curry was well balanced. The garlic nan was disappointing. It had a few pieces of garlic, but they added no flavor to the nan. Perhaps I should have ordered their house special nan(I was tempted!). I would definitely try this restaurant again, and I recommend it, but they have some stiff competition in close vicinity.

Do yourself a favor while in Rome and visit this place. It’ll be SO worth it. It’s located in a shady part of Rome but don’t let that deter you. After three weeks in Italy, I couldn’t manage another piece of pasta, so this place always hits the spot. Love it.

This place is suuuuuper good! My boyfriend and I wanted a break from having Italian food out here so we decided to give this place a shot, we were very satisfied! The inside décor could come off as «cheesy» but it’s definitely not dirty! I’d rather be surrounded by lovely décor instead of being in a boring atmosphere. My boyfriend ordered a lamb plate & I ordered chicken, both were spicy but nothing that will make you feel like crying. I either had the chicken masala or tikka and it was realllllly good! I couldn’t stop dipping my naan in the sauce after I ate all the chicken. Our server was very nice and attentive too, giving this place 5 stars in my book! The location may not seem«friendly» to certain prudes but you definitely won’t feel threatened or uncomfortable lol. It’s right by the market so there is a lot of traffic in that area, nothing shady even for us being tourists. We walked here and didn’t feel uncomfortable at all, I guess some people just get scared easily.

After eating Italian food for days, we definitely needed a break… So, we looked for indian food using the Unilocal app and found Himalayas. The restaurant seems to be in a shady part of Rome, but we managed just fine around the area. They brought out complimentary pappadam and assorted pickle and sauces, which were good. The pappadam was oily though. We saw someone at another table eat a big scoop of pickle and started turning red and coughing… For the non-Indians out there, be careful with the pickle. It’s kind of like wasabi where you don’t want to eat too much… We ordered the chicken biryani, chicken tikka masala, and mixed vegetable(carrot, cauliflower, peas, okra) dishes in addition to carrot halwa and chai tea for dessert. Since we like it on the spicier side, we asked them to make it extra spicy for the chicken dishes, and the food came out just like we like it, though a tad spicy. But very good with raita and water to calm the spices. The chicken biryani was our favorite. The boneless chicken pieces were very well marinated/flavored. It was a little on the oily side, but had great taste. The mixed vegetable dish was also very good. We have been to many indian restaurants where the mixed vegetable dish was so-so, but Himalayas had a much better offering. Again, the mixed vegetable dish was on the oily side though. For dessert, we tried the carrot halwa. It had pretty good flavor, but could tell they reheated it up for us since the temperature was not even throughout, some portions were cold and some hot… We also ordered indian chai tea, which was good. The only qualms we had were the oil/ghee used a little bit on the excessive side and that some of the garlic/ginger spices were not minced finely enough where you could accidentally get a big piece that would overpower the flavor. Some people would say ghee/oil is definitely needed to enhance the flavors… So maybe, it was a necessary part to make everything taste good…

The food is amazing. Pakistani food at its finest! I’m not just saying that because I was craving desi food. But it was incredibly well done. The seekh kabab and biryani was outstanding!!! Definite redo if I come to Rome again!!! Ps: the butter chicken was mediocre. I won’t do that again — but the palak paneer — ahmazzzinnnggg!!!

This place is downright disgusting. The location is in some shady neighborhood where you will feel unsafe to walk in to begin with. The décor in the restaurant is outdated, dirty and dingy. The worst is however the food — stale subjis soaking in some God-forsaken oil. My husband and I ordered dal, aloo gobhi, rice and roti to-go. We both agree that this is the worst food we have had in our lives. Just the smell of the food will make you want to puke. Since both of us were super hungry, we were forced to eat a portion of what we bought and hoped we wouldn’t fall sick the next day. Please do yourself a favor and Don’t eat here!

After gorging on pizza/pasta for a week we were craving for some spice and found this gem near the train station. Excellent food and service. We had vegetarian items so cannot comment on the meat dishes. Vegetarian fare was much above expectations. The curries were spiced to perfection. We had to visit this place twice as we couldn’t get enough! Highly recommended if you are looking for great Indian/Pakistani cuisine in Rome!

Food was just spectacular. The tandoori platter is a must try. The chicken and lamb are simply delicious. So soft, tender and juicy. We eat Indian food a lot and trust me when I say you can’t go wrong with this place.

We went to a restaurant and as we got in we did not get proper welcome. The waiter directly led us to the back corner section with a table already taken by employee having his dinner. After we asked him why we cannot sit in main dinning area of restaurants when I see so many empty tables. He bluntly said that those are all reserved tables. However, there was no reserved sign in any tables. We sat for 15 mins and nobody came to take our order.

Great restraunt! We ordered Lamp Korma and Butter Chicken and both dishes were on point. Prices were reasonable. Service was excellent. Would highly recommend if you are tired of pasta, pizzas, and paninis.

Food was excellent. Price was reasonable. Service was outstanding. We were in Rome for 5 days in June 2013 and the food was so good we went back another night. The Naan was soo good and the food was very flavorful. We are planning another visit to Italy and will definitely visit again!
