Grand Hotel Palatino

I enjoyed my stay here. The place is close to the forum and there are a lot of nice places near by to eat and buy stuff. I found the staff friendly and helpful and the rooms were always clean. As far as European hotels go, I actually found the rooms more comfortable than usual. I would definitely come back here to stay.

I would say a three plus. It’s a tourist hotel with groups cycling in. The location is great, reasonable walking distance to Coliseum and Forum. Subway is just around the block and the neighborhood behind the building is a cool locals hangout. The hotel personal were friendly. We had a triple room at it was fine, with a balcony and terrace. Room was the size u would expect in Europe, bathroom was large with a shower and bath. Can’t comment on AC as the weather was mild. I’d stay again.

The staff are friendly and provide maps and directions. The location is perfect for seeing the city! It is near both the metro and trains.
The room is decent. Bathroom tile is outdated but everything is clean. The TV has channels in English!
Tip: Due to energy saving they shut down the AC at 10pm so make sure you run it all day to have a cold room.

I hovered between 2 and 3 stars for this room since it is a great example of extremes. The good: it has free wifi, is very close to some of the biggest attractions to Rome and the rooms were clean and made up nicely each day. It also came with a complimentary breakfast which offered just about anything you could want. The bad: the wifi was slow as hell which seems to be standard for any hotel so I can’t really hold that against them. The air conditioning wasn’t very good and it only got cool enough in the room over the evening. The toilet was situated in a weird spot so you had to sit sideways because the sink is in the way. It is located on a somewhat noisy street. Which brings me to the worst part, the beds. I can only imagine that they were filled with concrete and they put a gym mat over the top of it they were so firm. The pillows too. Didn’t sleep much when I stayed there. All in all, about two and a half stars rounded down to 2 because I am still irritable about the mattress.

Pretty gross. In this day and age, with the beautiful and affordable options that you have in a city of this size, there is absolutely no reason to stay in a place like this. Oh, and if management is reading this review, there is a beast of a woman that works at the cashier desk by the front doors that really needs to be fired. The impression that is made when one interacts with such a miserable and low class person cannot be undone no matte how wonderful the other amenities.

This hotel is an absolute hell hole. No air conditioning during our entire stay. According to the hotel staff, Italian law prevents them from turning on the air conditioning until April 15. What a load of crap. I have stayed in other hotels in Italy that have done so. This place also houses lots and lots of tour groups. The rude old people on these tours fart, belch and make repulsive noises and fight you to get to the buffet, elevators, etc. This hotel is more focused on its tour clientele and not its other customers. Then I got ripped off with the bill. They do not include city tax in their quoted room rates and the cashier did not tell me that she was automatically converting my balance to USD at a higher exchange rate than prevailing exchange rates.

No complaints. They’ve done a ton of restoration over the years… So it’s quite nice. The restaurant is very good and they can make gluten free and vegan options… So that’s a plus for some people. It’s in a pretty convenient place as well.

Hotel situé dans le centre de Rome et à proximité du Colisée, idéal pour visiter la ville à pied. Les chambres sont assez spacieuse et confortable. Restaurant assez moyen par contre.

Do not stay here. It’s outdated and over-​rated. They claim to be a 4star hotel. I’ve stayed in 2star hotels that were so much better. The staff there make it clear they don’t care about you, its just a job. And the wifi is stupidly expensive! If you stay there, you are paying for the location as landmarks and the train station is within walking distance.
