By far the best gelato I’ve had in Rome. It’s made fresh and they have the most unique flavors. I tried the Basil walnut and blueberry cheesecake. Tasted the pistachio, and it was fantastic. Easy ordering and great service. I’m glad we tried this place early in our trip. I will need a repeat tomorrow… and the next day…

Yummy gelato that seems to be where the locals go. Staff was friendly and spoke English!

Snap. We found out after the fact we’d accidentally eaten vegan food. We hadn’t noticed. In fact we went back to eat vegan food again, but on purpose. So Delicious. Cool spot in a great hip little neighborhood.

Best gelato I’ve had in Rome. You MUST try gelato Faramorgana! Staff is kind– they speak English. Flavors are plentiful and unique. The atmosphere outside is fun and friendly — there is space to sit and it’s away from any crowdedness. One of my favorite spots in Rome!

I don’t understand all the fuss about this place. The ice creams scoops are far too small for the price… Flavours might be very delicate for some of them but my white almond one was bland and neither creamy nor smooth. This gelateria is on the expensive side so I’d strongly advise you to try another gelateria.

I had the lemon and passion fruit two scoops. There was no lineup and seating inside. They offered a lot of flavors that I have yet to see in other shops. Would visit again.

Amazing selection of unique flavors you cannot find elsewhere. Rosebuds, violets, and walnuts? I’m in!

It was good, but not that great. This place was right across the street from where we were staying. We decided to stop by one night after dinner. I shared two scoops with my boyfriend. The scoops were cheap, 2 for 2.5 euro, but they don’t get you a lot. Usually the gelato is piled high, but he barely filled it over the cup. Gelato was good, but nothing incredible. They do have a lot of flavors, but again, not the best variety I’ve seen. Honestly, I think this is a skip. If I came back to Rome, I wouldn’t be rushing back to this place.

This place was absolutely my favorite gelato place in Italy! It is all natural and most flavored are gluten free!(Which I need) Each flavor is labeled if it dose not have milk, eggs, wheat, and sugar. The cones are gluten free too! I got the milk mint chip and it was amazing. It actually had little mint leaves and thin slices of chocolate inside. I almost got a second one!!!

Went here on a scorching late July day in 2015 and it was the PERFECT choice. Amazing, interesting, fresh flavors! If you are looking for imaginative flavors of delicious gelato, then this is the place to come. I only wish I could have eaten more.

Esta heladería está algo escondida en una pequeña plaza que no es fácil de encontrar, y no todos los locales la conocen, así que por si acaso, armaos de valor y paciencia para encontrarla(quizás sois cracks y la encontráis a la primera… Who knows!).

When in Rome, get gelato at Fatamorgana! We had a lot of gelato during our Europe trip, but no other shop had such unique and delicious flavors. The flavors were intense(all local/organic ingredients — you can taste the difference), and the gelato was just the right consistency. Even after tasting the first few that caught my eye, it was hard to narrow down my choices. I seriously just wanted to try them all! The rose petal with black rice and pistachio gelatos were my top two. I loved the texture that the black rice and pistachio pieces gave. There is no seating inside, but there are a few benches outside. The tiny shop is also a bit off the beaten path, but it is SO worth it when you find it!

I’ve been to 3 different gelato places and this one was my favorite. It was recommended by our waitress at tre scalini. I got the cheesecake and tiramisu, Aubs got chocolate and cookie and cream. You really can’t go wrong here, there were pieces of tiramisu cake and cheesecake in my gelato, so good.

Absolutely DELICIOUS! I had vanilla crème, chocolate, and bronte pistachio on a cone. It was everything I was looking for and more. The flavors were creamy and rich… and the cone did not disappoint. My bf loved his too! As mentioned in other reviews, there’s nowhere to sit inside but there are milk crates w cushions for you to sit on outside. All you need for the quick and delightful treat :) I highly recommend and will definitely be back if ever/whenever I’m back in Rome.

Our group stopped in here due to the reviews on Unilocal and other websites recommending it as one of the best gelato shops in Rome. I didn’t realize beforehand that the gelateria focused on vegan, sugar free, egg free, or nut free flavors. Fatamorgana serves up some old standbys as well as some extremely unique flavors that you won’t find elsewhere in the city. I tried a scoop of their chocolate orange and a scoop of the banana cream and sesame brittle. The chocolate flavor was not far off from a Terry’s chocolate orange. The banana had a slight banana flavor only, and I could not detect the sesame brittle. Both were extremely gritty and did not hold up to the December night air, causing the scoops to melt much too quickly. Fatamorgana should be commended for their unique flavors and commitment to supporting different diets, however the end result to me was not what I would want from a Roman gelato experience.

4.5 stars Delicious gelato! There is no seating available inside. There are a few benches in front of the shop. Service was friendly and quick. The prices are great and they have a wide variety of flavors. The flavors we tried were all very flavorful. The consistency is just right, smooth, creamy, well blended and light. Naturally flavored and made with quality ingredients. Yum!

Fatamorgana can easily hold its own weight in a fight against the trendiest ice cream joints in the US. There are some pretty interesting gelato flavors here, and the flavors are incredibly potent — I was able to sample my family’s gelatos from lavender to coffee to chocolate/lapsang souchong, and it’s as if you’re eating the actual food in gelato form. Some of them were a little perfume-y(especially the floral ones), but the coffee gelato is seriously too good to not try. I accidentally ordered sorbetto(I was confused as to why it was so icy until it dawned on me…), but the fruity blends were a perfect way to enjoy the cool Roman night breeze. I was pleasantly surprised at how nuanced all of the flavors were — you can taste the hints of ginger, basil — just really pleasantly refreshing. Fatamorgana is quite affordable, and the employees were kind enough to humor my butchered Italian. Definitely worth stopping by for some great gelato and sorbetto!

Had gelato here after dinner! They have tons of flavors at this place! I got the baklava and ricotta in a cup! Those flavors were super delish!!! I do not like chocolate gelato and they sure did have several options of those, wish places had more sorbets, but they had a huge selection! :)

This place is the goods! Some of the best gelato in Rome, if not the world, and I’ve eaten enough gelato recently to be an authority on the matter! My partner had the soft fruit, which sounds boring, but tastes exactly like extremely ripe red fruit and was such an intense flavour. His second scoop(of which I tried also) was horseradish, which again was delicious and so exactly like horseradish it was quite bizarre. Gelato never usually tastes so much like what they’re supposed to be based on, but these ones do. I had a scoop of hazelnut and pistachio and it was again incredible. Pistachio has to be up there with the best flavours of all time. They appear to run out of flavours in the late afternoon. We witnessed one Roman have almost a total breakdown as her favourite flavour wasn’t there when she arrived, so get in early. 2.50 Euros for two small scoops in a waffle cone, then chill outside at the piazza afterwards with the locals.

I got ice cream here three times while I was visiting Rome for 4 nights. They have a huge selection of flavors and ordering is quite easy even if you don’t speak Italian. They have a good selection of different chocolate ice creams which is pretty cool. Their Wasabi Chocolate sounded interesting and it was actually good! My favorite flavor is Banana and Lime. You can definitely taste both flavors and the like gives it a good tart citrusy flavor. I love that there is an area outside where you can enjoy your ice cream with everyone else.

Cheap, close from Colisee and metro Cavour. away from waves of tourists and street vendors. benches and a water fountain in front of the glacier, without traffic close. Really ideal. The taste ice is just(apparently«organic» maybe it means«bio» in Italian). For us the location and taste ice is the best of Rome.
