The Wall Of Fame

Hi. We were complaining that this wall was a bit out of fashion and young people could not really link with it.
So, thank you for this new changes.
Could someone tell me who are the artists who appear on the new video?

Why do U2 take up more space than anyone else?
Not that I’m taking anything away from being an international stadium filler but to place them ABOVE any of the following is a disgrace; Luke Kelly, Phil Lynott, Sinéad O’Conner, Bob Geldoff, Christy Moore, Rory Gallagher, Paul Brady, Shane Magowen or Van the man Morrisson. I don’t recognise that one at the side (Mary Black?) and is that Aslan at the top? Also, the absence of Horselips or, for that matter, anything post 1990 is duly noted.
There, said my piece, music is subjective– would not give a toss about U2 if any of the above were in the room. To have one picture bigger than the rest not only reflects a complete misunderstanding of a music scene which was always rooted in a certain modesty and solidarity but, dammit, really pisses me off.
Eh, in Dublin the streets DO have names, I’m off to Monto’s…

I feel like the Wall of Fame is a massive wasted oppurtunity to showcase Irish bands. It’s really cheap looking and the photos of the stars don’t do justice to them as performers at all.
Not only this, but the wal focuses on more commercially successful musicians than musically inventive ones.
Get down off that wall Bono. Luke, Phil ye’re both grand.

I like this little addition, it really reflects the spirit of the area. Temple Bar has alays been the hub for music and the Arts in Dublin.
The artists that adorn the wall are all worthy of their place. It can be a little challenging for tourists working out who’s who but for the local Irish it should be fine. … should be…
The only thing i will say is that the pictures seem a little flimsy, like a poster. it would be nice if they looked a bit more permanent.

If you’re obsessed with music, like a challenge, or just have a few moments to spare, you could do worse than seek out the Wall of Fame. A seriously cool outside wall of the Button Factory, it displays photos of many of Ireland’s most famous musical exports. Challenge yourself (or, for the more competitive amongst you, your friends) to name as many of the artists as possible. It’s not as easy as it sounds — U2 and Sinéad O’Connor are easy enough, but you’ll be hard pressed by a few others. Either that or I’m musically challenged.
A great way to waste a few minutes, while feeling superior to the tourists who are desperately rifling though their iPods, which they loaded up on Irish music to ‘get into the Irish mentality’ before leaving home, only to realise that they forgot to add the photos of the album covers, and don’t know who Luke Kelly is anyway. And they say the Irish have an inferiority complex?!
