Popped into the Coachman’s last night for the first time in a very long time. It’s a low-key, traditional pub with an «oul Ireland» kinda feel. It’s very spacious inside there are lots of nooks and crannies to make yourself comfortable. They do a carvery with plenty of options and you will not leave hungry… the portions are HUGE. There’s also a restaurant out back that does an Earlybird with three courses for € 18.95 — I have yet to try it out but popped the head in and it looked very nice — the type of place you’d bring the mammy for a bite to eat of a Sunday. I had meatballs in pepper sauce with lashings of veg and chips on the side, couldn’t finish it and I was schtarved! It’s a whole lot of value for a tenner and it was pretty tasty to boot. It wouldn’t be my first port of call for pub grub in the Swords area but The Coachman’s definitely offers great value for money, decent food and a nice, relaxed atmosphere in which to eat and drink your fill. Himself also said the Guinness was ace, so I’ll give that a mention too!

Although I live close by to the Coachmans, this was the first time I had darkened its door. After a busy day DIYing the shizz out of my house, my hunger was at fever pitch! So I joined the line for the cavery queue and approximately 20 minutes later, I could barely move. The roast beef with lashings of mash, veg and gravey gets the two thumbs up from me :) The décor of the bar I also like, an old mans bar so I’ll also definitely be back for a pint of Porter at some stage too!

Although with most of its original interior in tow it seems, this pub is a great place to go for Sunday lunch. Their carvery is the nicest I’ve ever had! You get a massive plate, piled tremendously high, for about a tenner; complete with all the usual bits, ham & turkery, mash, and veg — but you can choose the portions yourself. And they usually have curry, chips, and other alternatives if you’re not into the carvery meal. It’s very cozy and a great place to watch a match. There is a beer garden with picnic benches, and plenty of surrounding parking space. The airport is only 2 minutes up the road, so it’s a handy place to go for a meal after checking in your bags before a flight. There’s also a bank about 100 feet away from the entrance in case you need to grab extra cash! One of my most cherished memories in this place was celebrating a friends birthday a couple of years back — actually my first impression of the joint. The extremely welcoming bartenders set a section for us all to sit near the fire and stay for the night. We had a sing-along; guitars and all, which some staff actually joined in on, and it had a warming Irish feel to it all. I absolutely loved it! It doesn’t have a late license, which can be somewhat of a let down when you’re just getting set to stay for the night! All in all, it’s a fantastic pub to go to anytime for any age.
