A large group of us from work had a meal in Greens restaurant above the Leopardstown Inn yesterday evening. I can’t fault it at all. The place was beautifully decorated for Christmas, the staff were attentive and efficient and the food was absolutely amazing — for a good price too. We all had the early bird 2 course menu for € 21. I had the nicest chicken liver pâté i’ve ever had for starters and I had the duck for main which was cooked and presented beautifully. I didn’t have a desert but those that did were very happy. They also provided baskets of fresh warm bread before the starters arrived which always goes down well. I will most definitely be back.

I am giving this restaurant 5 stars as i really enjoyed the experience from start to finish. We booked a table on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was completely full which is usually a good sign. We were seated in an alcove that almost felt like a cave and a candlelit table added to the cozy feel. After we ordered fresh warm walnut bread arrived which we really appreciated. For starter we shared chilli prawns which came with samphire. Samphire is something new which i have never tried before but will definitely be trying to order again as it was delicious. For main i had a really big portion of duck breast, confit of duck leg and quinoa in a banana leaf. I almost licked my plate it was so good! To finish we had the chocolate mousse which is super rich and i loved it!

I had dinner last night in Green’s Restaurant in the upstairs part of Leopardstown Inn. I used a Grab One voucher I had purchased for two starters and two mains for I think 29 euro. The restaurant itself is very nice and the pub downstairs is nice as well. The first thing I want to emphasize is the importance of giving something small complimentary while you wait for your starter. Whether this is chips and salsa, bread, popcorn… whatever! It really makes the difference for me when restaurants do this! In this case it was two different types of warm bread and butter, I was delighted! For my starter I ordered the Applewood cheese brulee with tempura asparagus and pancetta. I wasn’t too sure what to think of a savory brulee, but all the elements of the dish really came together and it was lovely. My boyfriend had the pan seared scallops and pork belly which I tried and also really enjoyed. I would recommend either of these as a starter. We both ordered steak for our mains, I got the 8oz fillet and my boyfriend got the rib eye. I tend to stay away from the rib eyes as I find they can be quite fatty even in the best restaurants! The fillet did have a supplement of 5 euros in addition to the deal, but that was to be expected. My steak came with fried onions on top, a green salad, potato gratin and I had the choice of peppercorn sauce or garlic butter, I chose the peppercorn. I ordered my steak medium and it was cooked perfectly and the rest of the elements of the dish were very tasty. We also got a half bottle of the Chilean cabernet sauvignon which went down really well. I recommend Greens for dinner as well as the«Lep» for a drink.

Its hard to find fault with this little hidden spot. The early bird menu is great value for money, the quality, presentation, service are all consistently good. The sirloin and chicken liver pâté are delicious. I keep going back time and time ago as its fail safe, so far. Book at the weekends in order to avoid disappointment.

This restaurant is located above the Leopardstown Inn. I’ve eaten here many times in small and large groups and its always been excellent. The quality of the food is very good, reasonably priced and its really very hard to fault the place. The service is friendly and efficient and the décor is warm and interesting. Last Saturday we had dinner here again in a foursome. We went for the EU21 Early Dining Menu — which was available all evening. This menu also included a Chef’s Special starter and a Special Main course in addition to a good range of other dishes including vegetarian options. Wine and beer are served. Definitely recommended for quality, value and an enjoyable night out. Its important to make a reservation for weekends.
