Typical Dublin pub but with a large selection of craft beers and a good Guiness pour. The fish and chips are very good… the fish lightly battered and very fresh.

Expensive food, tiny portions. Not that tasty either Good bar for drinks or to watch the matches. Outdoor smoking area upstairs but not sheltered in the rain. Quite a big size pub if you were having a group party. Not the worst bar in ranelagh.

A great addition to Ranelagh The Tap House and people know it. It’s a great success, always busy when we are here. But luckily not so busy we can’t get seats. Here three times, we’ve sampled their great selection of beer & cider. The food is pretty nice. We’ve had the onion rings, the sliders, the hummus & flatbread, the fish tacos… Not sure what else, but it’s all been good. It’s a reliable place to go to for drinks and vittles. Staff are on the ball and facilities clean. Décor is good too, if a little on the dark side i.e. dark side as in lighting, not the wrong side of the force.

The sliders are great and so is the ginger beer! I went on a Thursday night with friends and we had a great time. The live music was excellent, the food was filling, and the terrace was poppin’. I had the 3 slider deal with sweet potato fries. The sliders were tasty, but made up of more bread than meat — definitely get something else if you’re really hungry. The flatbread pizzas were a good size, and there were a lot of options. The overall décor of the tap house felt warm and cozy! Great spot for dinner and drinks without the stuffiness of a restaurant!

Last Saturday happened to be one of the warmest days in Dublin for a while and this little lady was tasked to a few errands with a friend… walking in the heat. As soon as we passed the Tap House the mama was called to the roof. After we retrieved our beer from the pleasant bartender we shuffled up stairs, passing leather bound books and the smell of rich mahogany. The Tap House is a speakeasy married to a quaint Oxford library… but obviously with food and brews.

Good spot for a mid week drink and some bites. Tasty sliders and wide selection of beers. Great beer garden that overlooks busy Ranelagh village. Adequately priced.

Food is lovely and not too expensive, however the drink prices are through the roof! € 6.50 for a pint of cider and € 8 for a rum and coke. Wouldn’t be leaving with much if you spent the whole night there!!!

Nice pub with a nice and trendy atmosphere while still holding onto its um pub-ness? They have many different kinds of beer on tap, including Metalman. I’m a huge fan. I haven’t eaten here nor have i had the chance to experience their beer garden but I know they have both. Quick and efficient service that is friendly. Recommend!

‘James, would you be willing to go to Dublin for a week?’ Before Daniel S could come to his senses, I quickly looked him dead in bright white apple with the bite taken out of it(we were both huddled over our MacBooks at the time) and said, ‘what do you think?‘ Sometimes I love my job. A quick few clicks of the online booking system a few lies about how Delta was the only airline that could possibly get me to Dublin and off I went. So that explains the ‘why’ of Dublin. The ‘what’ is where the charm of the place lies, though, and The Tap House holds the banner high in that regard. The lads at work had given me tons of guidance of what to do(in other words, where to drink Guinness) while in town, but I went to another Ancient Chinese Secret. I asked a cab driver. And without hesitation, he pointed me towards The Tap House. When in Dublin, you don’t ask if they have IPA, the secret code word is ‘Craft Beer,’ and Tap House has a wide selection of some of the best locally brewed crafts around. I settled in at the bar and went with the first that I saw on the menu. And some chicken wings, please, I heard that they are special. My non-Irish accent drew the attention of one of the local patrons named Don. Don made an excuse to move over to my side of the bar, ostensibly to read the paper that was lying next to me, but instead quickly struck up a conversation. That is the beauty of Dublin, there is no such thing as a stranger, only those people you have not yet met. Don and I chatted the evening away, talking about everything between the latest match on TV to world politics to the prices of a flat downtown. The wings came, they were delicious and perfect. The crafts kept coming, they were perfectly hoppy and fresh. Eventually Don made his exit, only to be replaced by another couple of local patrons that had overheard parts of our conversation and wanted to give me more advice about what to do(where to drink Guinness) while in Dublin. We chatted for a few more crafts and probably another order of wings. Let’s back up and regroup for a second here. American guy strolls into a pub way off the beaten path of what would be considered ‘tourist area’ of Dublin. Server behind the bar greets him with a smile and offers advice on the local selection of crafts, then pours it up and brings it over. Local patrons quickly and easily make conversation with this stranger in a strange land, treats him as a welcome guest afforded every ounce of Irish Hospitality. At the end of the evening, they pour him into a taxi and give the driver explicit instructions on where his hotel is. And make promises to meet up the next evening for more of the same. I learned quite a lot that evening. The world is a tiny place, and what makes us different makes us remarkably the same. Sure, the beers, the ambience, the food at The Tap House was all wonderfully first rate. But I’ve had first rate at many places across the globe. What sets The Tap House on another level, though, are the locals that call The Tap House their hang. If I lived in Dublin, this would be one of the places that I would frequent. As someone that can’t(yet) claim that privilege, I will have to settle for putting this on my return visit list and implore any other wanderers to stop in and sit for awhile. You won’t be disappointed. 5 stars and hits the Must Do list.

Been passing the Taphouse quite often and always wanted to check it out as friends told me about the nice roof terrace. So we went down to the Tap house the other Saturday eve, good we said we meet early enough cos by 6:30 the place was packed and buzzing. Lucky us we found a nice table upstairs and we happy out for the eve. The later it got the more packed it got but it never felt too over crowed could be the fact that we had a table after all. We only had drinks but the food which was passing by looked quite tempting for my non vegan/GF friends as I am not too sure for my option but would go back and check it out. Personally I am not fond about the size as its too big for my taste as I just prefer the more smaller and cozy pubs. However that’s just me and it wouldn’t stop me from going back as soon as the weather gets a bit warmer to take advantage of the roof terrace!

Probably my favourite pub in Ranelagh. Whether you are interested in Food, good pints or both this is a must stop. I always get the Hoizen duck and Hand cut chips. My friends are huge fans of the tacos. The food is reasonable if a bit high end but you do get excellent portions. If I am not eating I can go in and watch the game on the big screen down stairs. Also when the weather is good they have a decking outside for that weekend brunch.

I’ve been to the tap house now a few times, but this past Friday was the first time I managed to get a seat… and that was by the skin of my teeth. The place is always jammers. We just popped in to get a couple drinks before dinner. They didn’t have the ingredients to make the cocktail I wanted, but the one I ended up choosing was delicious anyway. Staff were engaging even though they were so busy. And they have Fentimans ginger beer which pretty much earns them a star by itself.

Rude. Rude. Rude barman. I asked him a few polite questions on their range… he was not impressed/forthcoming with the info… Lounge staff/waiting staff lovely… Slightly over priced. Nice terrace. Wouldn’t go again in a hurry.

Called in for a few beers and food on a Tuesday night. Beer selection was good for Irish craft beer(I had a rebel red and a o haras stout). Food was ok(I had pork tacos). There was champions league on and it was hard to escape TV screens though.

This place has a lovely atmosphere. The interior made you feel like you were in the study of the Cluedo mansion; the low lighting, the book cases, and leather bound seats, the bloody dagger… There was a duo playing acoustic folk rock which was entertaining without being too loud. The beer selection is decent and include most of the well known Irish craft brews on tap. They also have infused spirits which are mixed into delicious and unusual cocktails. The staff were friendly but I found the barman I spoke to to be a little unsure of the beers. They seem to have different taps on each of the bars so the barman had to describe to me what else there was. I couldn’t see a list and I’m not sure what I got was exactly what I asked for as he went to the other bar to pour it. We also had an issue with the doorman who refused some of our friends when they failed to produce ID, so they ended up going home. We’re all in our mid to late twenties and the bar wasn’t that busy. It was rather surprising but perhaps they want a 30+ clientele.

On sunday 8th of december at around 9:30, Myself and 3 friends decided to grab a bite to eat at Taphouse as my friends had recommended based on their past experiences. Upon entry we were shown to a table by the first waitress who was very pleasant and attentive. After ordering a round of drinks another waitress came to lay the cutlery on the table at which time she told us to lower our voices as we were making too much noise. The way she told us this was in a very fowl manner and bossy, not to mention that music had been playing and the only other table upstairs hadn’t shown any distaste to the behaviour of our group. Around this time my friend was exiting the bathroom and himself and a waitress accidentally bumped into one another causing her to drop the plates she was carrying. My friend was very apologetic helped however he could. After my friend returned the manager on duty approached the table to inform myself and another friend, not the friend who had the accident with the waitress, that neither of us are to be served any alcohol for the night. I found this incredibly disrespectful and embarrassing. I hadn’t shown any signs of already having had anything to drink and hadn’t caused any disruption in any way. The manager refused to explain his reasoning for this. I found this completely soured the experience. After this we couldn’t leave soon enough, we quickly finished our food and left abruptly. A terrible part to this is that the food was actually delicious but the service was bad enough where I won’t be returning. I currently work in the service industry as a bartender and am fully aware of the the importance and value of good service. I found the actions and behaviour of manager on duty and the second waitress to be awful, I’ll be sure to tell of my experience at Taphouse to anyone curious about it, which is a shame that the chefs cooking will go to waste due to poor front of house staff.

Large but cozy brewpub over 2 floors. Outdoor seating upstairs. Barstaff are well trained and patient with a beer snob. Didn’t have any food(went across the street for a stylish curry at Punjab by Nature). Many big tables for groups of 5+ but seriously, its quite well designed to not«feel» large. The beer. Well. Great selection, customer beet glasses. All around great experience.
