We ate in the returamt last week. The resturant was nice, the staff were pleasant and the views were amainzing. Unfortunately the menu and food was a little dated. Probably won’t be back.

Location Location Location. This hotel is in a great spot. The surrounding area has a vibrant restaurant scene, coffee shops, wine store and pubs. The lodging in fine, but I hear the place has no AC during the warmer part of the year. As for the heater, it pretty darn toasty. So much I had to crack open the windows. Service is fine. Breakfast is awesome.

I stayed here for 3 nights on a business trip. At no point did the shower water ever get above warm, and there was no water pressure either. Half of the bulbs in my room were burned out. Cleaning staff made the bed only. No wireless internet in rooms. Drafty windows, very limited room heat, and paper thin walls. Gym has no hours past 9.30 pm on weeknights, earlier on weekends. Both the Crowne Plaza Northwood and The Shelbourne were AMAZING compared to this.

The Grand is somewhat out of the way for the average western traveler(who is terrified of driving on the other side of the road) –this does not include me. but it’s right down the road from the train and only a € 15 taxi ride from Dublin. The Grand is… grand, old style hotel with tea in the lobby and two bars and a variety of room types mostly due to addition over the decades. Pretty excellent gym as far as hotel gyms go! It’s a recommendation for those travelers who always wind up staying at just another Hilton, put some adventure and interest into your stays. Even if you just think of it as a bed to lay in at the end of the day. –Positive feelings despite the fact the room I checked into had a big leak and hole in the bathroom ceiling(how does a housekeeper miss this?)

Great location, fantastic views and good service however the in-room comforts perhaps don’t live up to the ‘Grand’ billing

I actually stayed in the Grand Hotel one weekend and I found it to be lovely and old-fashioned. It sort of has a look of a place that’s not been refurbished in ages but is still in good nick. It probably has had work done and that’s the vibe it’s striving for. The rooms were perfectly fine — not grandiose as the name would suggest, but more than adequate — and breakfast was totally delicious. It was included in the price too, which is great as a lot of hotels make you pay extra for brekkie. The weather was fabulous(yes, imagine good weather in Ireland!) that weekend also so it added to the experience as Malahide is beside the sea and so beautiful when the sun is shining.
