Yum, Yum, Yum and Yum, I eat here a lot and they have really mastered the gastro pub /restaurant vibe, the food is always served to perfection, really tasty and creative. And very good value too. I highly recommend.

There’s plenty of seating & they have a menu u can take advantage of along with other specials. We tried the salmon cake, chicken curry and fish and chips. All were fine. Service was attentive & helpful. They have plenty of beers & spirits to choose from if u like.

The perfect pub atmosphere. This is my boyfriends regular stomping ground. So casual and cozy.

I’d been here a few times in the past and decided on Tuesday on a day off work to revisit this pub as I had fond memories of delicious food in a nice ambient surroundings. We arrived shortly after 2 and the pub was clearing up after what looked like a busy lunch. Both of us starving after a long walk, we opted for a starter and main course each. The bar not only boasts a healthy wine menu(very tasty pinot grigio) but also a good selection of microbrewery beers and ales. Drinks ordered we settled on our food. I had the spicy beef and noodle salad which was offered both in starter and mains portions. It was tasty, noodles crispy and beef tender. My partner in crime opted for potatoe skins with beef chilli. I had a taste and I loved the fragrant flavour on the beef. Now it wasn’t chilli as I know it but I have to say I was enamoured with the frangrant meat to be told it was tarragon!!! Since when did tarragon feature in chili? Onto the mains, I had opted for spinach and ricotta tortellini in a garlic pesto and cream sauce. Man, the tortellini was plump with a good generous stuffing and the sauce was light and delicately balanced. I had to ask for a side plate for the side salad as it was ‘dumped’ on top of the tortellini and had onions in it. Now, two things, I don’t like a cold salad heaped onto hot food nor do I like raw onions heaped onto a sauce as it can affect the balance of flavour of the dish. Gripe over move on… My side kick had the baby back pork ribs served with a side of fries. While the ribs were delicious, with a good flavourful sauce the chips on the other hand had obviously been cooked in reheated oil that wasn’t hot enough and the fries were ‘limp’ and had a distinct taste of cold cooking oil off them. The pub seems to offer a lot of live gigs on offer at weekends. So there ye have it folks. I would have given it 5 stars as gastro pubs go but because of the salad heaped on my mains and the cold chips I have dropped a star. Take note chef. Small details cost you the stars.
