Can’t go wrong with YumThai. Chicken Pad Thai for € 6, is great! I visited this place the first day it opened years ago and I wondered if it would do well, absolutely delighted that it’s still here. Cheap, simple and tasty — what can go wrong?

I’m quite fond of Yum Thai. Whenever I’m working in the south city centre I find myself wandering over to the little take away. Don’t get me wrong Yum Thai isn’t the most delicious Thai food I’ve ever had. However the portions you get are mega generous and you will most definitely struggle to finish it. The food can be quite dry if you get the Pad Thai which is probably my favourite option and there isn’t the largest selection available. But at € 5.50-€ 7.00 it can be argued that you get what you pay for and if you’re short of cash it’s a much much better alternative to McDonald’s or any other garbage that you might be thinking of getting on grafton street. Give it a try! You might like it!

It’s quantity over quality here. For a box of pad Thai costing € 6, it will feed you well for two lunches. That said, the chicken is dry and the noodles a bit starchy although there are fresh chopped spring onions and a bit of sweet egg which helped salvage it a bit!

Wish I’d checked Unilocal before popping in here for a fast take away lunch. There’s always a queue so I figured it must be decent. Nope. Went for the pad thai. Pretty grim to be honest. Dry and hardly any veg/chicken/nuts. 1 star for taste. Have given them a 2nd star as there’s lots of it and it’s cheap and that’s what matters to some people. Not me. Won’t be back!

Great place for a cheap, quick and filling lunch, especially if you’ve been out and about and need a break. I like their pad thai the most, but get a little frustrated when it’s mostly noodle and very little chicken. I guess that’s what makes it filling.

I’m quite surprised by the reviews on this place– I love it! It’s always the place I think of when I need to grab a quick bite on a low budget. There are usually queues but it moves quick and gives you just enough time to look at the daily menu — although sometimes you end up changing your mind when you see the food and going with your eyes! I used to get the vegetarian option but I’m now over that phase and I usually get the pad thai now, or anything with ginger/chilli. Just one of the times I got Pad Thai it was dry and chewy, like it had been sitting on the top and not tossed. But usually it’s absolutely delicious and because it’s so busy, also quite fresh. There are a few seats inside and a couple of benches by the door, so it’s not a place to relax, but I continue to come back time and time again.

I was craving noodles, came by here, ordered some pad thai and… was disappointed. The pad thai was just noodles and cooked oil/soysauce. There was nothing else in there — no lovely peanuts, no chicken, not even that nice pad thai color — it was just brown and noodles. I was so sad. Some of the noodles were even overcooked and tough to chew. This place seems to be a popular takeout place for passerbys, but I don’t really get it.

I’ve eaten here a few times and I’ve always gone for the pad thai which is ok for the price and it’s fast food. The pad thai is a bit monotonous to eat and by the end of the box you might not be full but you’ve had more than enough. Today I decided to mix it up and go for the masuman which I’m a fan of when I’ve had it other places before. Not today though, for a start it had ingredients in it which don’t belong in this type of curry, I get that there’s no hard fast rules when it comes to this kind of food but I wasn’t expecting those bitter green peppers. The sauce was just meh, bland, boring and scarce. The rice also seemed like a boil in the bag rice you would cook at home, dry, chewy and just u pleasent. I’m not sure I’ll go back but who knows, I like to give places a fair chance and will more than likely have tried everything on the menu pretty soon

The worst Thai food in Dublin, I spat my first mouthful of rubbery«Pad Thai» out as soon as it touched my tongue, it tasted liked it was 4 days old. When I told the staff that aside from tasting off, it wasn’t an actual pad Thai, just some noodles and soy sauce, they answered in a rude manner that«every chef had his own style», basically saying deal with it because they’re not gonna do anything about it

Yum, Thai! Inexpensive, tasty Thai food. This place is an excellent spot for lunch on the go. Don’t be put off by queues out the door, they serve you promptly, so make sure you know what you want or you’ll have office workers tut tuting behind you. They serve from a buffet style counter which can mean the veg can get a little over cooked throughout the day but it also means the flavours intensify. I usually go for the veg special, Vegetable Thai Green Curry with rice being my favourite. You get a lot of food for your money, usually too much for me to finish over lunch time. I have tried the pad thai and it is a little too oily and if they scrimp on the chicken I wouldn’t be surprised as this is a 5 euro meal. It’s hard to get as good value for your money in Dublin.

I thought I would give this place a try because they seem to be consistently packed at lunch with queues of people out the door; as I have now learned, this is not always a good indicator. It’s a cozy space, with a buffet style counter to order at, stools inside and benches out front if you want to get some air. I ordered the veg massaman curry which, although it packed in a good flavour with essentials like bay leaves and coconut clearly present, was a bit sickening. But what really let it down were the items formerly known as Vegetables, cooked to within an inch of their life(and possibly left on the heat for hours), pieces of cauliflower, onion and broccoli all had the same soft texture, cut though only by the occasional bland peanut and a solitary piece of fried tofu. Sad. Perhaps I made the wrong menu choice, but I don’t think I’ll be back to gamble with my € 5.50 again.

Took a takeaway out of impulse on the way home, wish I hadn’t. Bland food with no flavor. Have not had Thai food for a while because of the bad experience here. It’s cheap food but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you just want food to fill your stomach.

Every time I come here I get the pad thai. And every time after taking my first bite, I wish I hadn’t. Flavourless and unforgivably greasy, I feel sick every time. Why do I come here? Well, that’s a good question. At five euro for a student(though they’ve raised it to five fifty) it is a cheap way to get full. And unfortunately sometimes, the needs of your pocket, outweigh those of your stomach. Avoid if you can; this is my last time I swear!

American tourist review: Dublin is lovely, but its restaurants are unreasonably expensive for no discernible reason. If you’re trying to keep travel costs down and still eat three meals, try this place one day. € 5 or so gets you a full meal of rice, vegetables, and sauce; it’s a tiny place with about four seats, but good enough.

The only thing I’ve ever gotten from here has been pad thai which I have now sampled many times. I find it hard to eat half the food they give you so in that sense, I’m very happy with the portion sizes. When you’re looking for a carb fix, this is the place to go. For a fiver, it’s worth it.

On my first night in Dublin I took the bus to city centre. I had no idea how early everything closed and this was the only place still open. I tried a half order of the pad thai. It looked good and it was cheap, around 4 euros. I was super hungry so I could not wait for this first bite. I was highly disappointed because it had absolutely no taste. Pad thai is supposed to be tangy, spicy, sweet, and sour all at the same time, but sadly, it did not have any flavor. The noodles were also a little over cooked. At the least, they should serve this with lime and peanuts on the side to give it some flavor, but it did not come with either. I honestly thought it would be better since it was pretty busy. I guess I’m spoiled by the great thai cuisine we have in Los Angeles! On a higher note, the server was friendly and the place was clean.

MY quest to find great Pad Thai and my hunger brought me here today. Nice enough spot — very small, only seats about 4. There are benches out the front which are nice. So as I stated I ordered the Pad Thai as I handed my money over I mutter to myself«I should have gone to Little Ass’. And I was right ! I would say it was the worst Pad Thai I have ever tasted but the flavours didn’t even resemble Pad Thai so I find it hard to compare. Basically it was just noodles with some sort of sause in it! It was dry, with a hint of grease to it. I had to add some Thai fish sause to it — which made it tastier but pushed it even further away from being Pad Thai! Well the search continues and I now know not to get Pad Thai there again. Reasonably priced, € 5.50 or € 5.00 for student for a carton of food — and a free apple. I am giving the stars for the building itself — not the food.

Good food, good prices. I sometimes go here Friday after work and still have enough food for lunch the next day. Spicy and delicous. I have to be careful though. Once I ordered tofu by mistake and I like tofu but not in this place. I actually felt sick after eating it. BUT besides that its great. CASHONLY

A real student/office worker lunchtime staple… a queue outside the door between 12 and 2pm is always a good sign! Not super-high quality stuff, but tasty thai food served in generous portions for a fiver(5.50 if you don’t have a student card). Plenty of choice for such a tiny place too — at least five different curries and stir fries with vegetarian options available too. Their red curry is the best of the bunch in my eyes — not overly sweet and with a lovely spicey kick to it. Served with a mountain of rice or noodles too — guaranteed to keep the afternoon snacking to a minimum! If all else fails, at least there’s a new place to make a tit out of yourself with a pair of chopsticks in.
