Great value lunch deals. Falafels as they should be, crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside! The salads are pre-made which makes them a little less appealing but still pretty tasty. The portions are quite generous. The place itself is a bit on the basic side but then again it’s not trying to be fancy. The staff are friendly. A great little spot for healthier fast food.

Ummi which is another word for mama or mother in Arabic and as the name suggests you would expect something delicious as if it was made by your mom. I can say that this is the best falafel I have had in Dublin(vey authentic and delicious). They offer different choices for falafel whether in salads or a wraps. My favourite is the Lebanese falafel wrap with extra tahini. And its not just the food that makes it especial but the atmosphere it self, starting from the big drawing of Um-Kalthoom or as called«the fourth pyramid of Egypt» and the most famous Arab singer. Also the amazing arabic songs they play which gives the place its identity.

Torn between 3 and four stars so it’s more a 3.5. I love falafels so much I crave them ever since I’ve had my Lebanese friends ones in the food markets. I crave them so much and it’s been my lunch every Sunday along with the vine leaves(drool) for the past year !!! So when I seen Umi Falafel and the good reviews I couldn’t wait to try it out. I arrived just as it opened so the place was empty. The staff looked a bit grumpy to say the least. Went and picked my seat, which I wasn’t too fond of it was sort of a fast food type seating area and the room was very dark. Wasn’t great for my little one but ah well we got on with it. The menu was great and had a lot of choices. I loved the € 7.50 lunch deal that came with falafels, your choice of salad, pitta bread, hummus and other sauces I didn’t really know but where bland. You also got a drink but it could only be a soft drink or water, not the juices or teas on the menu. I also ordered some potatoe wedges for my daughter. The food arrived and the presentation was great looked amazing. The falafels where good and nice and green inside, very tasty. The salad was nice, it was the Fatoush salad(a Lebanese favourite) and it had tomatoe, cucumber, lettuce, parsley and it was topped with some sort of filo pastry that was crispy and sweet. Abit too much lemon for me was very acidic. The sauces where all bland even the hummus. Needed something extra maybe garlic? And the wedges where good put overpriced for the portion and I’m assuming they where frozen. What was also off putting is the minute they bring your food over the bill is thrown at you. Felt as if we were rushed out because it got busy at the lunch hour. All in all I wasn’t too blown away I might come back and try the vine leaves and baklava :)

Prime location for the best falafel in Dublin. Great food, pleasant friendly and helpful staff and a great lunch offer from 12−5pm. Good takeaway sandwiches too. Well worth a visit for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike.

Hands down best falafel in Dublin, maybe even in Ireland. Fresh, delicious falafel is prepared and packed into pita with hummus and it is just short of amazing. No other words to describe tho food here. With its easy location on dame street its not hard to find, expect a small line but it’s worth it. Before 5pm you can get a lunch special with a falafel sandwich, wedge fries and a drink for 7,50 and its really filling. I opted for a fresh juice which was an excellent choice for an extra 2 Euro. They have to go, or table service so decide before you go in — they are super organized and have little patience for slow tourists. Understandably since they are usually busy. My server was very personable and efficient, overall I had a really excellent experience here. Will be back next time I’m in Dublin for sure. All the food I had in Dublin was mediocre but this place was exceptional. Must stop if in Dublin and you live for excellent falafel.

I’m definitely a fan of Umi! Their Palestinian wrap — NOM. They do a great lunch deal(eat in only) — a falafel wrap, nicely spiced fried potatoes and a drink for 7 euro. Some of the sides are huge. The baba ganoush especially — it’s enough for at least 2 people. All in all a great spot for a tasty, low cost lunch!

A nice place in the center if you’re looking for a fresh bite to eat. We both ordered salads that came with lots of fresh veggies, which was refreshing. The atmosphere is very relaxed and has an almost cafè-like feel to it, although there isn’t a ton of room in the seating area. Prices are very reasonable for the amount you get. Great food for a great price!

Umi do the best falafel in Dublin, it’s the best I’ve ever eaten outside the Middle East and would easily rival anything I’ve had there. Have only ever had the take-out but plan on having a sit-down Mezze there soon. Their Palestinian pitta with falafel, aubergine, pickle, hummus and marinated tomatoes is so so good, I haven’y been able to order anything else other than the falafel on their own(also amazing!). It’s so fresh and wholesome yet hearty and filling at the same time– the perfect fast food basically! Love, love, love it! Plus for any vegetarians out there, the entire menu is meat-free too! It’s also super easy on the pocket, so a perfect spot for lunch on the go on a budget.

Good and traditional food from Middle East! Live the falafal but the salads are also amazing and they’re made in the original way. The juices are absolutely gorgeous and they match perfectly with the food. Prices are ok!

Good Hummus and Falafel for great value. Somewhat slower than the street falafel I’m used to in the middle east though. This is one of the few places in Dublin that serves its Hummus and Falafel with proper Pita, as opposed to Naan bread.

Well I travelled along with my Vegetarian meetup group. We had been here in the past. I enjoyed my time. Food was exquisite. heheehe. The waiter knew his stuff and his dishes dietary. I was most impressed. He knew what was vegan and wasn’t. Although the majority of the dishes on offer is Vegan, some are vegetarian. So I just wanted to make sure. Considering the place was bouncing, he was speculator. Ever since Delhi O’ Delhi(Review here), closed down(RIP), I have been naming Umi Falafel as my FAV vegan/vegetarian restaurant. Umi is Arabic for«Mother». Following is what I had The Lebanese Falafel Batata Hara/Wedges Lentil Soup Basbousa The Lentil Soup, mmmmmmmm was heaven. Totally enjoyed it. Creamey(VEGAN) creamey soup. I had asked the waiter what was the soup of the day and he reploied Brocoli Soup of which was I wasn’t the best of. SO I chose a nicer soup of which I was glad. hahahah The Lebanese Falafel was filled in a wrap style or as they call it a Falafel. Filled with styuffiny type, Tomato, Cucumber, pickles, parsely and tahini sauce. It was scrumptious. IT would be suitable as a lunch. It was heaven. mmmmm. I asked for a side order of Wedges or in Arabic BAtata Hara. They were a bit dry, spicyness was«Just Right». Not too hot, and not too bland(opposite of spicy), it was JUSTRIGHT. I asked for a dessert menu. I quickly looked and chose Basbousa

What I love about Umi is that both myself and the Mister love the food. It’s always so fresh and absolutely great value. I’m going to branch out next time and order something other than the falafel plate deal, but at such a good price I find it hard to say no. The staff are great and patient in explaining what the food is if you have no clue and the relaxed atmosphere means you can come here with friends and get stuffed on all the yummy food. The only thing that tends to bug me is how dark it is in there. I get that they are setting an ambiance but a bit more light would be great. We will be back as it’s one of our favorite places to eat in town for afternoon nibbles between hunting down bargains and op-shopping.

One of my favorite places for falafel in Dublin. It’s pretty straightforward ordering — falafel in a pita, or in a wrap, or choose your own version. Then you pick a sauce — chili or tahini. You can either sit in the back, or take it to go. The minty lemonade is GREAT.

I had heard really great things so anted to try it out for myself for dinner. The interior was pretty nice and the menu was easy to find at the front of the restaurant. We ate in at the back. The food came out a little too fast, as others had mentioned and my halloumi was very soggy which was a bit disappointing. I did enjoy the salads we had, however. I opted for the quinoa salad and my partner had the fattoush. The portions were generous so we requested a doggy bag to have for later.

I walk by this place all the time on dame Street. I always see people in there but have never gone in. Three weeks ago I decided to pop in for a sandwich. I am so happy I did the falafel sandwiches are excellent. 5 € for a big sandwich. Very happy with the quality of the food and I have been back since. The staff was very friendly and efficient

‘Umi’ means ‘mother’ in Arabic apparently… Oh mother does this place have good falafel!!! :) Today’s take-out lunch was 6-piece falafel with a mezze(side) of Baba Ghanouj dip! If you haven’t tried this dip, get it! Heavenly! Price a bit steep for a dip(€ 4) but they give you loads so I guess I can keep it in the fridge for tomorrow! Staff are so friendly! Really nice! I’ve heard the Palestinian falafel sandwich is good here so I’ll try that next time!!!:)

I was really looking forward to trying the falafel here, but it just didn’t live up to my expectations. The falafel wrap was on the small side, and didn’t have that much flavor. Surprising since they are hand made! The mint lemonade was amazing, however, overpriced. I also got the cheese and spinach filo rolls, which came 4 to an order. Way too salty, and again, overpriced. The customer service wasn’t great, no craic, and no real friendliness. Just a toss of a takeaway bag on the counter with not another word. 3 stars for the mint lemonade and the fact they do actually make their own falafel.

What can I say? I was impressed by the food, value and size of the portion. € 7.50 nets you a lunch special and boy will you be full after it. I opted for the falafel plate with the tahini salad(they let you pick from a range of salads). It was presented beautifully and everything tasted great, especially the falafel itself(slightly spicy, which I loved) Décor of the place could do with some slight more attention to detail and it was a little dark but you really don’t care when the food is this good and cheap.

I’ve been recommended to try out Umi for awhile but I never really checked it out properly until last week when I went for dinner with some colleagues and I have to admit – everything here is delicious. I also love how my meal had no meat at all and I was still very satisfied. I had a Lebanese Falafel, Tahini Salad, Filo Cheese rolls and I think I’m craving them already. The Baba ghanoush was probably the best I’ve ever tasted and I’m definitely coming back just for this! The staff are very friendly and the service was quick. Try the Mint Tea – it’s delicious, refreshing, and if you overate(which, if you’re anything like me, you’ll very likely end up doing) the tea washes down everything nicely.

Stopped by here for some post-yoga grub = Sharing platter which included falafels, hummus, quinoa salad, cheese and spinach rolls. Falafels were good but salad was a bit too cold like it was taken straight out of the fridge. Fried cheese rolls were delish! The service was a bit left to be desired — there were quite a few tables uncleared resulting in a cluttered looking seating area and a longer than required time to get seated. Perfectly fine for a quick lunch but don’t expect too much!
