Love this place. Went here for my cousin’s birthday and we had a fab night. The food is cooked in front of you by the chefs, who preform tricks with the food and make the whole thing very entertaining. The beef is amazing and everything tasted really good. Not too sure how much we paid as we all chipped in but I don’t remember it being too expensive at all.

Delicious place. The salmon and the sushi were so fresh. The waitresses sing and play the guitar so nice! And the chefs perform fiercely on the grill :) can’t wait for more sashimi.

This place is a tiny sushi gem! There’s not a huge menu but it’s all top quality, easily some of the best I’ve had in Dublin. The rolls are great value, and an extra 10% discount for carry out makes this a go-to for lazy dinner nights. Tempura is always delicious, great batter, and gyoza are perfect. The staff are all lovely, very attentive and friendly in a non-intrusive way(your water glass will never be empty), and they say hello to my little dog when we walk down for our takeout. It’s always a good atmosphere, everyone has a great attitude.

This place is awesome. A must-visit if you want good food and good entertainment in one go. They have a student deal for € 15.95 Monday to Thursday. To be honest, the price is quite steep for me and I think my fellow students would agree. But their standard menu costs more however, along with the price you pay is good entertainment. I would like to say that the food was the highlight but it wasn’t really. It was seeing the chef cook your food while doing tricks and making fire go crazy(a.k.a firebending — shoutout to my fellow ATLA fans out there! haha) I suggest that people should avoid this place during weekends since I heard they can be jammed packed busy that the chef would not be able to do a Tippenyaki show to their guests. Also I recommend that you make a reservation beforehand and request to be seated at the tippenyaki bar. For photos, please visit my blog post of this restaurant here:

This place is crazy fun! I had heard tales of random singing, dancing and hijinks and couldn’t wait to see with my own eyes. We were greeted with beaming smiles upon arrival and given the choice of normal table or by the bar — we chose a normal table as I wanted to watch the chefs from a distance. It was busy enough, so we were given Miso soup once we made our order from the delicious menu. It was delicious; I’d never had it before. The calamari and chicken satay for starters were amazingly delicious and a really large portion for the price. Just as we finished the started the madness kicked off — there was a group at the bar celebrating a birthday — they got a really good rendition of ‘happy birthday’ along with a cake and an emotional and version of ‘Stand by me’ by Ben E King. All the women were welling up. It was lovely. When the mains arrived my eyes widened — I ordered the scallops which were exactly the way I like — loads of spices, cooked ever so slightly alongside a small bowl of fried rice. The sushi honour roll was eaten quite quickly by herself — the presentation was amazing, it looked like Sydney Opera House! As we were tucking in we got some free entertainment too — a fun version of Bruno Mars song ‘Just the way you are’ — not my favourite song admittedly, but it was really romantic. I mustn’t forget to mention that all the while the chefs at the bar were entertaining all of us by throwing knives, throwing bowls, chopping, clapping, singing. It’s loud, but so entertaining to watch. Two starters, two mains, beer and G&T came to a well-deserved price of € 63 — Very cheap and entertaining evening. We left wanting more, not because we didn’t have enough food(we were stuffed), but because it was so much fun. We laughed and smiled for the entire night. Oh, and they remembered our names for the entire night, and bid farewell to us by name — nice touch. Looking forward to our next check in. Great for food large food portion heads, sing along to dinner heads, price conscious heads, and let your hair down and dance with your dinner heads!

I’d say the have the best Sushi in town and there are a few competitors in Rathmines and Ranalagh area. My faves: spicy tuna roll and honour roll — omg, just delish! Lovely staff with eye for detail and entertainment. If you fancy a hot dish, please sit on the counter and you’ll see the talented cook preparing scallops, chicken, prawns, duck, seabass etc. teppenyaki style. This is a show on its own :) Btw: They also do take away, but you have to pick it up.

A pleasant restaurant with lovely staff. We’ve been twice now, but the first time was better, for two reasons: the food was tastier and the show put on by the chef was more enthusiastic. That said the second occasion was great in the fact the staff dedicated a song to me and my fiancé to celebrate our five year anniversary. How nice! I had the chicken teppenyaki both times and as I said earlier, on the first visit it was better. Their house white is great value and very drinkable, um, too drinkable in fact ;) I just loved the ladies toilet here. Why you ask? All the complimentary ladies things of course. Also its beautifully decorated. Yay! I’m a fan and I can recommend Tippenyaki

This is a great little restaurant, with the added bonus of being close to where I live. Been here a couple of times now, The first time the food was better, the second time the show was better. The food seems pretty standard for teppenyaki, lots of rice and meat. Its all very nice, maybe could be a little bit better. The show is always great, with lots of spinning knives and flying bits of food. Add to this a musical interlude with the waitress and waiter singing songs to us all! Don’t look for a quiet night out that’s for sure! All in all great! The wines not bad either!

I went along as a guest of S_and met a few people that neither of us had met before for dinner. I’m not the biggest Teppanyaki fan, to be honest I usually find it overpriced and underwhelming. This one was no different, the food was ok, basically it’s stir fry. I opted for a seafod selection. The prawns and scallops were overcooked for my taste and the salmon was one step away from being charred, it was dry and crispy. I’ve also seen more interactive Teppanyaki chefs, he didn’t do a lot to engage the group. Unfortunately as I had an early flight the following morning, I was taking it easy on the beer and had no wine, maybe that might have helped. The company saved the evening for me, I’d happily sit down to a stir fry with the same people again, but probably somewhere else.

A weekday meal meal out with people I’ve never met before makes for an interesting night out :) I’ve experienced tepenyaki before, so knew what to expect. It wasn’t as entertaining as my previous experience elsewhere, but I didn’t mind so much as I was chatting away, plus I’m not a huge fan of watching someone play with my food. I was happy to not have to dodge bits of flying egg! The food had good flavour and was plentiful. It was a bit odd to have the potatoes and veg served before the meat and rice. Would have been nicer to have it together, but maybe its the way they draw out the experience a bit more? Reasonable prices and tasty food make me happy. Would like to visit again and try something form the regular menu.

Before entering I actually had no idea what a teppenyaki restaurant was. But after a single visit I think I’m a fan. We sat at the large ‘C’ shaped bar which stands in the centre of the restaurant. There are also your standard tables dotted around the room but if you want the full experience I recommend sitting here. Once the order was made a chef appeared and he began to cook our dishes on the large hot plates within the bar. Nothing was mundane! Eggs were juggled with spatulas, steaks were set on fire and a lot of things seemed to go flying across the area. Cooking times were short and the food was tasty, but perhaps a little over done for my taste. Of course, many non teppenyaki dishes are also available along with a nice selection of sushi. However, why you would forgo the entertainment of the teppenyaki cooking process is beyond me? The staff were simply amazing and have upped the ante for any restaurant I attend in the future. I don’t what to spoil the surprise but let’s just say, they should be on tour. Overall I really recommend it and I will be back.

Well well well. I must say I did not expect that. A Japanese lady serenading us with the Fields of Athenry whilst finishing our meal. And some Elvis. And some Johnny Cash for good measure. With her guitar playing chef. What a lovely little spot this is. Teppenyaki is great fun in any case — just the act of not sitting at a normal table is enough for me(easily pleased) — add to this a knife weilding mad man(ah ok so he wasn’t mad, but was deadly at throwing sharp objects in the air /at himself), and Bob’s your uncle. For the teppenyaki menu, you are given a choice of soup or salad to start(the miso is lovely), and duck, chicken, beef, salmon or prawns for your main. This is then searved with egg fried rice(fried up for you on the spot!), little pieces of potato, and vegetables. It was lovely. My only complaint would be that the potatoes and veg was served way before the rest of it, so they would either be cold or gone by the time the meat was served. The staff are truly lovely — beaming faces and extremely attentive. The price was pretty decent — between 16 and 20 euros for the lot, with beers in and around a fiver. And of course there was the serenading. Oh the serenading. You will need to go to experience it!

I went there in January. They had a special offer 25 euros for 2 people with starters, main course, dessert and wine. The food was really delicious and a very big portion. The atmosphere is very nice. The chefs prepare the food in front of you and they make sure you will be not bored. It was a lot of fun to watch them cooking. They were joking all around. The staff is very friendly. I really enjoyed the night. I think it’s a bit expensive if they don’t have the special offer but it worth for it. The food is really nice.

Faced with the challenge of finding an evening’s distraction on an otherwise dull Wednesday evening I shopped around on Unilocal(where else?!). Plodding past the usual chinese and Italian mulch that festers the corners of our city and stomach I stumbled upon Tippenyaki. I’d walked past the place far too often to mention, it being the former of my much missed«Mash» café but after the evening we had Tippenyaki now holds a special place. There’s something special about seeing your food cooked right in front of you — you see how fresh everything is before it’s cooked and know for certain that you’re not being served reheated rubbish. Spotlessly clean chefs slice, dice, grill, entertain and heap the perfectly cooked food onto your plate as soon as it’s ready. It’s really amazing to see them in action. The night we were there another party was on the other end of the bar so both chefs were in full swing and the place was buzzing. Already delighted by the friendly waitress and even more delightful Thai beer we were served a miso soup as a first course. It’s a perfectly light introduction to the food ahead. Steak, duck and seafood are all on the menu as well as a selection of sushi and sashimi. Best book a seat at the bar though, the chefs and the unique cooking are what sets this place apart! For an encore they surprised my dear little sis with a «Happy Birthday» — Tippenyaki style! :o)

This place is just absolutely gorgeous and tons of fun! There’s nothing better than watching a chef prepare your food right in front of you: 1) They can’t spit in it! and 2) They always make the preparation exciting and are sure to play with the food! Now as an avid player of my food, much to the chargrin of my mother and father, this is something I really enjoy. All the produce was fresh and exciting and absolutely delicious. You can either get a seat at the big main tippenyaki table or if you’re not up for the excitement you can choose to sit at one of the smaller tables. They also offer a nice selection of sushi and sashimi. My only complaint is that it’s a bit expensive, but alas it’s well worth it. So if you’re wallet isn’t filled with stacks of notes, you might want to save this for a special occassion, and special it will be!
