There’s a lot of mediocre carveries out there and it’s rare enough in these times to get a good helping of good food for around a tenner, but yey the Sub provideth! The sub is housed in a relatively new building(I remember when it was a small round yellow building) but ample seating and a nice atmosphere. It was built when super-pubs were all the rage so there are a number of seating areas. This means that Sunday football watching is optional as you can be in the more rowdy areas or still get a bit away from the noise. The food provided is the usual carvery range although better quality than you’d find in most places. While the carvery has many options vegetarians are not consistently provided for. A ‘small’ plate will set you back around 9 euro and a large plate is about 11. I’ve always found the ‘small’ helping amply satisfying. On top of that they have a good selection of fresh desserts as well as the usual beverages. For the financially conscious(that’s me) there are usually glasses of water on the bar, so you don’t even have to ask. The friendly lounge servers take orders for tea, coffee and other drinks. It’s busy on Sunday, but open every day. Even on Sundays you won’t have trouble finding a seat. It’s a slice of a real Dublin Sunday afternoon, as families and friends have a bit of dinner, chat and watch the match, but from a more comfortable vantage than you normally get!
