Fab spot for a tourist but wouldn’t really be my scene otherwise! It’s very much a beer bar, and they do serve food until late which is great, it looks nice by what I had seen from those who had ordered around me, but limited for vegetarians. I don’t like when menus put salad options as vegetarian options. Yes, we know they are vegetarians, but we can and do also eat more than just leaves sometimes. Drinks are around the tenner mark, so average enough, with an okay-ish cocktail menu. I tried the Purple People Eater as it had amaretto liqueur in it, and then went for the After Eight — basically a creaky, minty, frozen alcoholic frappuccino. Neither were bad but I don’t think they have a specialty cocktail maker, just regular pint pulling bar staff to make these specialty drinks. Overall it was an averagely pleasant experience, but I don’t think I would be rushing to come back here any time soon.

If you are a tourist this is a good place to go for a pint and enjoy the Irish craic and independent beers, but as at this stage consider myself a local I felt little bit cold as the same level of a pub at the airport :) At the counter it takes time to get your beer even for a Monday evening. They serve food but I didn’t have order any but it might be a good occasion to go back and check. Probably on Monday it is not the best day to test the performance of a local pub. However it worth a visit once to try their alternative Guinness beer called Oyster. One thing I would appreciate is to have more info about other beers to be sure to order the one I might like. Staff at the door was really friendly and we talked few minutes before to come in the pub. If you are chasing the classic Irish pub, you will find better atmosphere somewhere else but also to not ignore this place if you are nearby and want to try some different genuine beers. Free wi-fi might get you that extra mile of convenience in case you cannot connect with the Digital World.

I thought this place was great. We happen to get there before a rugby game and decided to stay for entire match. They have a great selection of beers and the food was good. The place was packed while we were there and the staff was still attentive.

This is a great spot. Formerly Judge Roy Beans and has the infamous honour of where I was 9/11, I spend the afternoon watching the tragedy after initially going in for lunch. Very extensive menu of beers, they have gone down the craft route Again better during the week, but pretty damn busy at the weekend, I was stuck between 3 and 4, I am being positive though as I have many fond memories here. If Emily, could change rating scale 1 – 10 that would be cool

Porterhouse is a great showroom for the multitudes of beer produced by the brewer of the same name. There are about a dozen various beers on tap from the brewer plus a few more guest taps and even some cask beers available. Just don’t ask for a Guinness. The staff was fast and professional though not exceptionally friendly. The beer was excellent and definitely fresh from the brewer. The red ale was a bit hoppy and tart and perfectly personified the style and went great with the gloomy late fall weather. The pumpkin ale was also very seasonally appropriate and tasty without being overly sweet. The spices shone through and rather than tasting like a pie, tasted like a good beer with a hint of autumn. The bar is also excellent for people watching as there are certainly some characters who frequent the place plus the multitudes of tourists who wander in.

A favourite on Friday evenings with the 2×1 daiquiri offer. I would get brainfrozen everytime, that is how good they are. And if you are not into cocktails they have loads of craft beers to choose from.

This place used to have the most amazing strawberry beer, not sure if they still do. Good to see craft beers picking up in the Big Smoke.

Porterhouse is a solid bar in Dublin for craft brews. Literally pages and pages of beer, with something for everyone in terms of taste and preference. The variety comes with an exorbitant price tag, especially on import brews. I wouldn’t recommend coming here for the food. Ambiance is decent, but does provide ample room and is good for large groups.

I grew up around the corner from the original Porterhouse in Bray and have always been a big fan. While I lived there it was my local, and I’m happy to say that this central one in the city holds up to their great standard. The place is always buzzing when I go there with a mixed aged crowd and pretty positive vibes. They’ve a huge range of craft beers and also have their entire Porterhouse brewed beer range available too. The food is of a high pub food standard and is fairly reasonably priced too. The most recent addition of the little whiskey bar next door is great too and is a big hit with tourists. If you’re looking for a late bar that isn’t too pretentious and overly busy, this is a great spot in the heart of the city!

We stumbled into the Porterhouse coming through the connected Dingle Bar, lured by the live music being played by the Eskies, and outstanding band who wouldn’t look or sound out of place in Brooklyn. Oddly, we also learned that the Porterhouse also has a branch out in NYC. While, there certainly isn’t anything wrong with the Porterhouse, it’s the kind of establishment that typically rates about 2 or three stars in my book. Kind of a Sports Bar type vibe with lots of televisions, which is often something that keeps me out of a bar or pub. However, the place gains extra stars not only for the outstanding music, but also for the outstanding beer selection, and most notably for not serving Guinness, which one might expect to find in every bar in Ireland, despite the presence of much better stouts out there.

Ugh. I had not been here in years and came here to meet a friend on Friday night. Total lack of atmosphere. Just awful. Amazing selection of beer but just really really lacking when it came to any craic or sense of a fun pub on a Friday night. It was jammers too and jammers with a very irritating crowd. Seemed like a big student crowd. I guess that makes sense with it being across from Trinners. Ugh. I don’t want to go back again. Unless it’s like day time. It might be different then. Compared to their Temple Bar place and Porterhouse North this is deffo the worst of all of them. Ugh.

Great value for money in the center with wide choice of beer including the one brewed by Porterhouse. Not the best pub food we had on our trip but maybe the best in Dublin.

This is an awesome brewery with a plethora of options for beer available for choice. I only grabbed a pint and then moved on, but very spacious, with knowledgeable bartenders, and good beer. Highly recommend for beerheads!

This was the first pub my college roommates and I visited on St. Pat’s Day during my Ireland vacation. We needed an escape from the parade madness and this place was not too insane yet because everyone was still outside watching the parade. This place was honestly a god-send as it is spacious and we were able to grab seats at the bar and watch the rest of the parade on TV. I do not drink beer. I know I know shame on me. Going to Ireland during St. Pat’s and not being a beer drinker. Anyhoo I was thrilled this place had a huge selection of cocktails and wines as well as beer and I ordered a frozen strawberry daiquiri for $ 8. It was delicious. While we waited we decided to order some garlic wings and fries. Now these did take quite awhile to come out and we even had to remind the bartender. This was not super unexpected though as the place was getting more and more crowded by the minute after the parade ended. Overall, this place is worth a try.

When I first moved to Dublin, this was one of the first pubs that I visited. I enjoy the atmosphere of this place, it’s very lively, and apart from the locals you will find many tourists around. They brew their own beer and also offer a great selection of beers from around the world. Their pub food is really delicious, from pies to burgers, everything that we tried was tasteful. Try their rum with lime in a jar, it’s really refreshing!

My last night in Dublin — and true to most of my trips, I wanted to try some local craft beer… and not Guinness! I found Porterhouse Central and walked over from my hotel. Nice bartender and a large selection of craft beer — many of which they brew. I had a steak sandwich that was cooked perfectly. I met a nice couple from London and overall had a great time!

Porterhouse is for me the place where I can get the better beers, be it in Dublin or outside of the capital. If you are a fan of ‘the black stuff’, try their own beer, Porter; Guinness isn’t available here. The place itself has a nice atmosphere, and its location is ideal: between Grafton street and Nassau street; perfect.

Porterhouse Central caught my eye as we walked by it while touring around Dublin, so we decided to go back for dinner and check it out. Porterhouse Central is a sort of gastropub/microbrewery(or at least they brew their own beers but not sure if that happens off-site), and was buzzing when we stopped in on a Sunday evening. The restaurant is spacious so there was a lot of available seating in the rear at that point. The beer menu is extensive and includes a handful of their own brews. I tried the Oyster Stout which was terrific, and actually brewed with oysters! Who knew? The food menu is your Irish pub standard with a few flourishes. We ordered a few things, of which the standout items were the hearty chicken pot pie and the bangers and mash. The portions are generous, especially at this price point. For being so crowded, service was prompt and friendly, and they made sure to return to offer another beer or whatever we needed. Overall, a great spot in the center of Dublin for a beer or a solid meal.

The Porterhouse Central is along a street with many local pubs. We were attracted to go in as it was one of the nearest to our hotel and it really gave us that ‘warm, fuzzy Pub-feeling’. Or at least, I call it that! :) When you’re in Dublin you want to try something local of course, as a tourist and pubs are something we aaaalll LOVE, right? Nothing too fancy, no real tables — all high tables and high chairs, posters and writings everywhere, lots of beer and cider and NOISE. Of course, the noise is just part of the charm! We thought the wisest thing to do would be to order the Burger off the menu, as it looked like the best choice. I ordered the Porterhouse without bacon, but still it came with bacon… Alright, no worries. I took it out! However, I was not sure if the piece of meat I took out was bacon or chicken, as it was too large, thick, white and greasy. I was assured it was bacon and the lovely waitress noted that it shouldn’t have been in my burger(as I had ordered not to have it) and took it off the receipt. That was lovely of her, as I didn’t ask for it. Still, we were all a little disappointed. The burger was… well, how do I put this delicately… one of the worst burgers I have had in a while. And believe me, I love burgers and am usually not so critical. I mean, how can you go wrong with a burger? The sauce was off, it was too huge and hard to eat and suuuper salty! I stopped eating halfway as it started really giving acid reflux! And, sadly to say, it took about 45 minutes for this special burger to get delivered. I understand it can be peak hour, since it was around 7:30 p.m. but 45 minutes for a burger?!? However, I am always for benefit of the doubt and therefore also noted these things to the waitress before leaving. I hope that the next customers having the burger will have a better experience. However, like I said, friendly staff, willing to listen if anything goes wrong and still the really cool and authentic pub atmosphere!

Have been a regular here since I was first exiled to Ireland. The beers are amazing. They have craft beer, imports, locals in all colors & tastes. Bottles & on tap. The place gets packed on the weekends & after work. Try to get in early to get a table. Now on to the food. They have changed the menu every year. For the love of sanity — stop. Just get some good decent pub grub & stick with it. The Porterhouse Pie was my favorite but no longer available. People come here for beer & comfort food. Let’s get it together & keep cooking some old fashioned favorites.
