Ah had such high hopes for this place, looks so lovely from the outside, and the menu reads very well but it was decidedly average. The décor is lovely inside, all soft twinkly lighting, cream leather and dark woods, the walls lined with craft beers and wine, it’s all very bijou and I loved it, but unfortunately the food just wasn’t very memorable. As we were eating straight after work we went with the Early bird menu which allows you to choose from the first four options on the starter and main menu. I decided to pay the € 3 supplement for a starter of jambalaya rice balls as none of the other options tempted me. They were tasty and served with a flavoursome gravy and definitely the highlight of the meal for me(though I don’t think they merited the supplementary price). I had the lamb burger for my main, which was good but a little uninspired, again there was a supplement if you wanted extras with it and without these it was nothing out of the ordinary. I had to ask for some mayonnaise as it was a little dry with just the relish that accompanied it. I feel there are plenty of places in this part of the city offering better food in the same price range so while it wasn’t terrible by any means it just wasn’t good enough to woo me back anytime soon.

Average enough spot really, everything was adequate and pretty alright. From the seating, lighting, wait staff to the food… I have no complaints but can’t rave about the place either. The better of my two courses was the mushroom soup which was pretty much spot on. One slice of bread though to accompany it… hmmm. The rib-eye steak was where the averageness set in a little more. While they cooked the steak exactly how I asked for it to be, the meat itself just wasn’t all that. Also the garlic butter was more butter than garlic! So overall, grand but I won’t be back myself.

The brunch pan is a winner — perfectly poached eggs sitting on top of crispy pancetta, sauteed mushrooms and potatoes with a side of grilled bread. GAW-JUS. Just look at the attached pic! Prices are very reasonable too — two brunches including lovely coffee cost us around € 25. Service is efficient but bordering on cool detachment thus the one star deducted.

First they ignored our reservation. Then they assigned a table with attitude. The space is crammed and there is nowhere to hang your coat. My wife placed her coat on the chair, which was dirty with grease or lard? Pun intended. The attitude, tightness, loud noise level and mediocre food does not warrant a visit. We regret we came.

This is the kind of place you want to go for a special occasion. The service was excellent and so was the food. Ribeye steak was painfully delicious and the wine they suggested to go with was the nicest I have had in a while. If you are ready to get your money’s worth and treat yourself for once, you should add this one to your list.

I loved this place. I made a reservation and would suggest you do. Dublin in general is reservation heavy and I had tried several before my friend suggested this place. Im so glad he did. We were seated immediately and it was pouring rain outside, bad even by Irish standards. I tried to order a glass of merlot, unfortunately they dont have it by the glass and I was the only one who likes red so it was SOL. Instead we had a glass of prosecco first which is sold by the glass strangely enough. We then went on to try their great craft beers. For food we had the crab mix starter. It was nice. just nice but lacked flavour. For our main courses we had the duck cooked to perfection I should add with potatoes. I had a steak, omg this was outstanding. the best steak Ive had in Ireand ever and cooked exactly like I ordered it came with hand cut chips also lovely. For dessert we had bakewell tart, you dont see it on many menus. I ve never had it warm? not sure why but it was lovely. Their coffee is also fantastic. The staff are excellent and there was slight panic in the restaurant as the electricity keep going out due to the weather. The staff kept it together, the poor kitchen staff must have been panicking but it didnt reflect on the waiters. Loved the ambiance, will definitely be back.

Everything is pretty bad. And they don’t accept Amex even if the POS machine works. I’m told the boss«decided» not to accept it. So unprofessional

Really great find in Dublin with quality food, reasonable prices, great beer, and welcoming & warm service. We brought our toddler with us and they were very kind with him and us. If you have a family or a little one, I recommend coming for their early bird special. It is a good deal and not crowded. It is a small but quiet restaurant and we really enjoyed it.

I traveled along to the restaurant with a group on the momentous Occasion, Pride 2015. I was given a menu, with a main course and the starters were very small writing, ie NOT important. hahaah. I looked at a Veggie Breakfast. I wasn’t impressed with its ingredients. So I said I’d leave it. I asked the waitress, which she was very kind, if I could order TWO Starters to make it a main. ahahah. So I enquired a Soup which is a Leak and Lentil PANCHETTO, something like that. Now the waitress explained that’s ham. I’ve personally NEVER heard of a ham let alone a meat dish in a soup, other than the simple Chicken etc.,. So I had to make do with Rocket Salad AND Dip Bread. Now both were lovely, except, the Olives’ I ain’t sure«are there suppose to be STONES» in either olives, the red and Green??? So to sum up, Service EXCELLENT, Food CRAP.

This restaurant was awesome. We went on «Steak Day» and every member of our party got a delicious ribeye for a shockingly low price. We also had Chocolate Mousse for dessert as well as a rhubarb crumble. The true highlight of our visit however was our server Blaise. She was truly the most beautiful and nicest server we had during our stay in Ireland. She was friendly, and kind and very passionate about her preferences for the food at The Larder. All in all our group decided that The Larder was our favorite restaurant in Ireland and that Blaise was«Miss Ireland», the most beautiful woman we encountered on our travels.

I came here for brunch on Valentine’s day with my mom and I must say the quality was quite good. Since it was brunch the menu was pretty small and limited compared to their dinner and weekday menu, but I ordered the Brunch hot pan which came with 2 poached eggs, spinach, mushrooms and roast potatoes which was pretty good. My mom got the lamb burger which was massive and came with jumbo fries that looked more like wedges! But otherwise the portions are pretty average. There was also 2~3 vegetarian items on the menu. Surprisingly it was very empty for a Saturday afternoon as there was only about 5 other customers besides us and the atmosphere felt pretty formal. It seems like a great place for a formal dinner or special occasion though, and they have a great selection of wine! The staff were pretty nice and the service was good so nothing to complain about there. Prices were also reasonable; most mains on the lunch/brunch menu costing 8~11 euro. The one star deduction is for the limited selection on the menu.

Yeah this place was pretty decent !!! I ordered pan fried cod with sweet potatoes and broccoli… was delicious(and they accompanied some salad with it without me even having to ask) Fish was very tasty ! Broccoli looks frozen — but dont worry– its not ! Staff and service were all right ! average enough place ! I tried some of my friends chips to which were delicious ! proper home made chips ! she was happy enough with her meal also. Portions aren’t huge so maybe get a starter also.

Nope, I can’t do it. I won’t do it. If this French-Irish bistro was as charming as it made itself appear to be on the surface, this would have been an easy four-star experience to describe. But no, the charming décor and delicious menu are marred by the rudeness I encountered there and the fact that I was ripped off. Granted it wasn’t much, but it really pisses me off when a restaurant owner advertises on a sidewalk sandwich board a € 10.95 Two-Course Lunch Special and then charges me full price for the same menu items. That is simply poor business practice. Was it because he saw me as an ugly American or rich Asian? Take your pick, I say, because I didn’t even notice the discrepancy until I crossed the Liffey and read the details of my bill. Shame on me for being so trusting. That’s too bad because the food was certainly decent enough. I started with a bowl of their daily special soup, Broccoli and Almond, accompanied by a wedge of wheaten bread(see photo). Nice and creamy but not overly so with a subtle flavor. This was followed by their Rib-Eye Steak, grilled to medium-rare accompanied by chips and a side green salad(see photo). The beef was a very thinly sliced cut but probably reasonable enough for the lunch hour, while the rest of the dish was pretty standard. The waitress, blonde of course, refused to crack anywhere near a smile in my direction the whole time even though I was only one of her two tables she was serving around 2PM. It was pretty obvious the staff wanted to leave. It was also obvious that I was a solitary tourist simply looking for a nice meal, but I was treated like I just bombed Pearl Harbor. Who needs that kind of ‘tude when you’re on vacation? I get enough of that at work for heaven’s sake. FOOD — 3.5 stars… the soup was velvety good and the steak grilled nicely AMBIANCE — 4 stars… charming space SERVICE — 1 star… to know, know, know me is to love, love, love me… SLAP! TOTAL — 2 stars… I’m being generous here
