There’s probably a hundred places like The Candy Shop in Dublin, but they still deserve a little recognition. You’ll get some good coffee, a well-stocked deli and a relaxing atmosphere in here. What more could you want?* *The answer is free wi-fi, but very few cafes in Dublin get that question right.

I just adore this place. I used to live in Phibsboro and work in Dundrum so I would catch the 48a bus just up the street and get my morning coffee in here en route. It’s really cheap — about € 1.80 for an americano, and it’s really good too. They also do a great selection of breakfast and lunch food, along with stuff like bottled juices and fruit. I always noticed that the staff were brilliant. The same girl served me every morning and knew exactly what I wanted the minute I came in the door. She was always really fast as well and I never once missed the bus ’cause I was delayed waiting for my order. I love the décor of the place too — it’s very quaint. And it’s always nice and warm inside, which is great on a cold day.

This coffee shop has got wonderful character, it can thank it’s location for that. It is perched with a great view of Parnell square. Its large windows make people watching a must. Old wooden chairs and tables are spread with good space between, nothing worse then sitting on a strangers lap. The owners have held on to its original fixtures which again makes it distinct. The staff are friendly and efficient. The café is kept very clean. I have had better coffee though. They do lunches and pastries and the prices are average for Dublin city. It also is a busy stop for people going to watch GAA games in Croke Park.
