The experience shopping here is ok and can be unpleasant sometimes. The price pretty much the same as dunnes store or aldi. But the customer service and the cashiers are mostly bad. The workers are unfriendly and the Irish female workers are very bitchy and unhelpful and look tired and work like they don’t want be there. But this Tesco sell good value flowers expecially orchids are pretty nice.

Not the best Tesco out there, but convenient none the less. It really could do with a scrub as it does have some interesting unidentifiable smell in certain locations. It’s really more of a Tesco Metro in my eyes, rather than an actual Tesco store due to its size. It has the main stuff you need, but not everything — I usually have to go to Dundrum Tesco for anything else. My biggest gripe id that the Off Licence is next door — can be a bit annoying if you have a few bags! OK for I’ve ran out of milk heads, quick shopper heads, and I live locally and it’s to convenient to go anywhere else heads!

It has pretty much everything you’d expect… it is a Tesco after all… it is however completely lacking in soul… not sure why, it is just too spartan and stuck in the 80s.

This is an OK Tesco. Usually has what I want. Although it did use to have a better selection of electrical accessories. But that section is much much smaller and in its place a wine section. The express tills are handy and they weren’t too busy today. One final thing is it stays open later than the Dunnes in the same area. I would prefer to go to Dunnes.

I’m not reviewing the grocery, only the Off License. All i can say: 10 Euro for 8×500ml cans of Guinness. Need I say more?

Queues at almost every time of day, sulky staff are never anywhere to be seen when customer has problem with the self-scanners(and they frequently do). Avoid and pop down to Dunnes in the Swan Centre

If I’m doing my grocery shopping in Rathmines this is the last place I think of to go. Normally, I would be quite thrilled to have a Tesco in my area, I know I know corporate giants destroying the world, but at the same time it’s nice to go into a shop and know that they’re nearly 100% going to have what you went in there to get. The Rathmines Tesco, seems like a place that even Tesco forgot existed. The shops isn’t even that big and it seems quite easy to get lost and confused when trying to find something for your dinner. Also, the shop always seems to be dirty and dimly lit. I don’t know if it has any real effect on the food, but it always effects my mind set and I end up only get non-perishables whenever I’m here. Overall, it’s quite an underwhelming experience.

Wow. The security guard working in the Tesco off-license really gets on my nerves. Last time I stupidly chose to pick up my supplies from here he followed my every move like he was waiting to grab me with a beer in my bag. There’s nothing worse than having to feel like a thief when the only thing you want is to pick up, and pay for, some drinks to accommodate the burgers you bought in the supermarket. Also, I wasn’t allowed to buy 2 cans of beer, I had to get a six-pack or nothing. And their selection sucks. I left with nothing but a bitter experience.

Rathmines is known for being full of students and when I was in this Tesco the other day I noticed they are still everywhere! Lots of young men doing their shopping for one were milling around! But speaking of milling around, I found it kind of hard to find stuff here and so I was milling around in circles. It’s a good size store, but they seemed to missing things. For example I couldn’t find any tofu products or vegetarian mince. Now I didn’t ask anyone for help, but that’s ’cause I couldn’t see any staff about either. Having said that, it’s a pretty good supermarket I suppose. It’s just that I wasn’t familiar with the layout. There’s a bottle bank out the back too, which is very handy.

A passable branch of Tesco’s situated in the heart of Rathmines village it does nothing more nor nothing less to provide adequate stock to the conventional Rathmines resident. Whilst it is not big enough to stock every finicky thing you could possibly want nor be substantial enough to rely on for all the ingredients you require for a dinner party it is dependable for the buying of basics and items deemed, especially in the family home as ‘necessary’. I would have no qualms going straight there to purchase the things needed for a sufficient family breakfast, stock up on bread and then buy a cheeky packet of cigarettes at the tobacconists counter before I exited through the main door. I appreciate the reasonably sized car park at the back which is also useful if you wish to run a few other errands round Rathmines. Don’t expect extravagance but don’t disregard it for the essential items either which it does well to stock in abundance.

The Tesco in Rathmines hardly offers the ultimate shopping experience. The fruit and veg aisles are often half-stocked, and it certainly isn’t the place to go if you have a shopping list of specific ingredients in mind, as chances are they will be sold out of at least two of them. However, as they face competition from two other cheap supermarkets in Rathmines and a third on the way, there are some great bargains to be had here, especially in the meat department. I stocked up the freezer with packets of yummy prawns which were 2 for the price of one a few weeks ago. The fruit and veg(when it is on the shelves) is generally much much fresher than the stuff sold in Aldi. And they have items like butternut squash and aubergine which you won’t find in the bargain-basement supermarkets. I come to Tesco occasionally when I get sick of the Aldi selection, and it fits the bill for that.

This is definitely on the not-so-nice scale of supermarkets. It used to be a Crazy Prices and it still has that warehouse type feel to it. Parking is a bit crazy getting in and out. So much so that pedestrians should be wary when passing the parking entrance to get to the entrance. I’ve nearly been run down a few times in going in there. It’s a big enough store so you can get most things here, although I find it quite disorganised and end up wandering the store to find individual items and then get exasperated and leave before giving up!
