This place is great for the fruit and veg. It’s even better for the herbs and chillis. Fruit and veg variety may be a bit limited though. But what it lacks in variety, it makes up with value. Today I got a massive bunch of coriander and five chilis, for 1.92EUR. Bargain. I used to go to Spiceland next door, but they seemed to be shut these days… Shabnam is just as good.

I’m sort of lost as to why there are two Asian groceries next door to each other. Shabnam stocks all same delicious produce and ethnic ingredients Spiceland boasts right next door. And with the recent addition of Souk one more door down, it feels as if the row has become an impromptu one-stop-shop(cringe at the jargony phrase — sorry!) for exotic gifts and goods. Spice selection is excellent, but really no good shop would stock anything less.

I have to agree with Ronan here, it’s easy enough to confuse the two shops and think that they were all part of the same shop. The products sold in Shabnam are teh same as those in Spiceland. Spices and ethnic ingredients. Great for adding a bit of spice to your food. They’ve also got a nice collection of fresh vegetables outside for your to pick through.

I feel like I’m repeating myself, but between here and Spiceland next door you can get pretty much anything you want in terms of Asian ingredients. I can’t help it, I always think of them as different parts of the same shop.
