Very impressed with this little place which is kind of hidden off the main road. Went for an early bird which is great value at just under € 20 including two courses and coffee. For starter I went for Shredded Chicken in Chili and Salt. Talk about tasty and the portion size was enormous, could have been a main in some other restaurant. For main course I went for Szechuan Spicy Chicken. Again generous portion and full of taste. Waiting staff are very friendly and helpful, they must have topped up my water every 5 minutes! I liked the atmosphere in there, quiet, dimly lit, relaxing background music and nice décor. Some people here have commented that it is too dark or quiet but I prefer that kind of atmosphere. To each their own. Overall thoroughly impressed and definitely the best Chinese restaurant I’ve experienced in Dublin.

We got a combination starter, which was really good, and a fixed 3 main course dishes for two people consisting of; ‘The Beef Fillet Cantonese style’, which was good, but very sweet. ‘The Szechuan Spicy Chicken’, which was good. ‘The Crispy Chicken in Salt and Chilli’, which was awful. The dish was dry and bland :-( (These were strips of deep fried chicken, not chicken wings as seen on the starter menu) We also got ‘The Crispy Monkfish in Japanese Teriyaki Sauce on a Bed of Asparagus’, which was really really good :-) The staff were very professional and the restaurant was very clean. It is a white tablecloth, formal dining restaurant.

Really low end Chinese food with high end prices. I went with a group and was able to try several dishes Garlic ribs were great but everything else was below par and WELL above reasonable prices.

Had Christmas office lunch there. I was set menu: starters, main, dessert and tea/coffee for € 19.50. Food really tasty and the portions are huge! Staff are really nice too. We all had a great time!

What possessed me to have Schezuan in Dublin is the same reason why it possesses me to have it in San Francisco. Dublin food is every other culture’s food and there’s a huge Chinese population in Dublin, speaking Mandarin with an Irish accent. Also, I put my faith in . Big mistake, Unilocalers… you fail. This place failed the moment we walked in. I felt like I walked into Tony Montana’s coke room, black laquered and mirrored walls, no windows in this basement, formal attire being worn by the staff and completely banished of customers. We didn’t take it to be a bad sign, considering that the price is 23,80 per person, for two courses and not many Dubliners are going to pay that price. First course, a rice bowl portion of hot and sour soup? This is something we get complimentary back home in the states, and can hardly be considered a starting course. Me? They handed me two tiny laquered spare ribs. The staff had nothing to do but stand 2 feet away from us and stare down our gullets, attempting with all their might to ear hustle and look inconspicuous while doing so. As soon as I put my fork down, a young informant appeared, took my plate and came back with hot hand towels for us. Am I supposed to put this on my face? My hands? My taint? Second course, Schezuan chicken with egg fried rice and Spicy beef with«boiled»(white) rice. How do you say bland in Mandarin or Cantonese? Bland bland bland bland bland. Did I mention bland? Although there was adequent dried chilies on the chicken plate, it was in no way spicy. It packed no punch. There seemed to be a lack of salt. And the fried rice didn’t even have the eggs incorporated into the rice, but rather were placed on top of the rice. Most uncomfortable dining experience ever and all for only 50 euros! One thing positive about this experience is that I understood just how spoiled we are back home with food. Especially all the delicious Asian food, which is probably one of the most affordable cuisines. It just happens to be one of the most expensive in Ireland. I can’t wait to eat at real Schezuan back in the states.

The two of us were staying in a hotel nearby and decided to check out. Good service, lots of menu options, and on the evening we went, they had a special with one appetizer and one main dish for 23 euros, with several options for each. We had veggie spring rolls and corn soup for the starters, and spicy beef and kung pao chicken for the mains. We also had a bottle of wine from a fairly good wine list. I had reserved a table, but I don’t think it was really necessary, for a Tuesday night. If you’re in the area and craving Chinese food, this is a definitely a good spot to try.

Orchid Szechuan is a great restaurant & it’s super quick! A little too quick if you know what I mean… but mmmm the crispy chilli beef is tasty and also they do a very good chow mein. Super friendly staff and you can sit on the couch and browse through a magazine for three minutes while you’re waiting for your take away or you can stay and eat there. Brilliant.

I have gone here many times with my office for lunch and the food is lovely. The staff are great — they always greet us as if we’re regulars, even though we only eat here every few months or so. They do a great lunch menu — 3 courses for about € 17. I love their butterfly sesame prawns and the last time I went I had beef in black bean sauce. It was great — really tasty. My only fault with this place is that it’s so dark — you kind of feel like you’re in a cave or dungeon, or some place equally dark. You almost need sunglasses when you go back into the daylight!
