Ya can’t go wrong with this place, they do a mean breakfast roll. At € 4.50 ya might think it’s pricey, but ya get what ya pay for, it’s cooked fresh there and then as soon as ya order it. And Sean and the other lads are sound as a pound, he tells ya take a paper off the counter and sit down till your roll is done. I can’t recommend Oh! Rourkes highly enough

There were some taxis with their plates switched off outside Oh Rourke’s when I first passed there which is always a good sign of somewhere that does a good fry. Off I went on Saturday morning to check it out. It’s an odd little place, I’m not sure if it’s a café or corner shop or both. It’s a really friendly little place, the guy behind the counter is just a pure salt of the earth Dublin man, born and bred and buttered. It felt like I was in someone’s living room. The food is not great(soggy pudding, cold toast) but honestly, I felt so relaxed and welcome, I really enjoyed the whole experience. Worth stopping off for a cuppa and a snack if you’re in the area.

Don’t take this way, but I’m relieved to see Oh! Rourkes. It’s that neat and tidy diner at the end of Bridgefoot street that you’d never expect to see across from that fenced off dead lot, or down from the overgrown and abandoned allotments. The sandwich counters are clean as a whistle, and the slim menu is a surprise –hot breakkies all day including breakfast rolls, plates of pudding, egg and beans… even boxty! The prices are excellent as well, with a six-item plate costing just € 7, those breakfast roll € 4.50 and wholesome drinks like € 2 perc coffee, € 2.50 hot chocolate and very affordable € 1 glasses of milk. The place was empty as an eggshell on my visit, but I get the feeling there’s locals on their way.
