Nice hand-made sandwiches, bagels, wraps and pizzas. Hot or cold. Also have soup, cakes, coffee and soft drinks. Particularly liked the Create your own sandwich option with one main filling and three salads.

My friends and I would come here every day for lunch during college. We would all get Tripledeckers with stuffing instead of tomoato. It would keep you full all day. Our friend Jon used to get sausage on his. We called this«Jon-ing it up»

The triple club sandwich I had was fantastic, my friend had some really good pizza by the slice which was reasonably priced.

The service was appalling, I will never go back. I first asked would if it would be possible to get three fillings instead of the ‘2 filling’ deal because I was vegetarian and would’t be getting a main filling, the answer of course was ‘no’. So I went with the € 3.95 deal where you can get 4 fillings. I was then asked if I wanted them to toast it and so I said ‘ah yeah, sure why not’, only to find when I reached the till, that it was an extra euro for toasting… Seriously other sandwich places don’t charge extra unless it’s an actual panini you’re getting, and besides they should have mentioned the extra cost… I was then greeted with my € 4.95 sandwich, which I paid for and then remembered I had my Trinity student card, I was told that it had already gone through the till so I couldn’t get the discount. The staff obviously did not want to be there, and they certainly showed it by being rude and obnoxious. I absolutely regret paying for the pleasure of being treated like crap. Never again.

I am going to have to go against the wave of popularity with the previous reviews for this spot on Westmoreland street… I just can’t warrant anything higher than 2 stars. It really is a pity as the location is great and the view is fantastic due to it’s huge glass windows. Firstly the coffee had as much kick as a fly in a wheelchair. Watered down to a puritan brew. I am a bit of a coffee snob but I feel I am entitled to be one if I am to pay 2.20 euro to sit and drink coffee from a paper cup. I needed to use the loo, annoyingly as is the theme with some coffee shops in the area(Starbucks on College Green) you have to ask the worker to use the loo. They keep them locked with a combination code, apparently to prevent people from using it as a public loo. There has to be a better way, than being treated like a child & disturbing a worker not to mention announcing to everyone in earshot that you need to tinkle. The loo is where my nightmare began. It was an utter horror show. I had to lift the lid with my foot and levitate whilst grabbing the sink with my covered hand… I don’t appreciate being sabotaged into a gymnastic routine. If that is what their attitude to hygiene is like behind the scenes, I don’t ever want to try their food… Even though the display & choice was wonderful. Staff didn’t seem like they wanted to be there, well with a germ shrine quickly colonising the shop, I really don’t blame them.

It was clear that this company have been falling short in recent times and their liquidation and buyout was no suprise to me… i hope they get their act tgether and stop compromising their once brilliant sambos with blow quality ingredients! Their bread has continued to be real thick thought which is great!

O’Briens is a home grown franchise that is beloved by many for the big toasties served up here and the even bigger pile of taytos that accompanies each serving. Yet to be honest, I’ve never really seen the glory of said sandwiches. They have little or nothing special about them, which makes you feel like you’ve been a bit ripped off. But still. A sambo’s a sambo and while I feel that they’re a bit overhyped, they still fill the void in your belly… even if a bit pricey.

Where else do they get those massively thick slices of bread? How do they fit so much filling in between those massively thick slices of bread? How do I manage to squeeze the whole thing in my mouth without damaging my jaw? Why, with similar ingredients, do the sandwiches I make taste nothing like these magnificent towers of hunger extermination? Just a few of life’s mysteries that I tend to ponder on rainy days… There really is an art to making a good sandwich, and these lads have mastered it. I go to this branch most often, ignore the sound of that massive juicer grinding away in the corner, and savour my sandwich. Toasted sometimes. They’ve been branching out into pizzas of late, but not sure I could venture away from my old reliable sandwich for fear of being terribly disappointed and cursing the day I strayed from the fold. The prices generally have become incredibly cheap of late, as well as the deals for students mentioned below. But prices falling and branches shutting shop might be a bad sign for the future of my prized sandwich makers. Stay strong O’Briens Westmooreland Street, I’ve got your back.

It’s such a pity that this chain is on a bit of a downward spiral… it’s just so good! Their sandwiches are beautifully massive and keep you going for hours, and their € 2.95 for 3 fillings is a steal now. Pity my fave has 4, now I have to prioritise, which sucks, but sure what can you do?! Their coffees are as expensive as anywhere else in Dublin, which isn’t exactly their fault. And they do smoothies… though you could be waiting hours for them because the smoothie-making paraphernalia is tucked in a corner of the way which means that it’s not exactly a priority for them. Best of all…25% discount for Trinity students and 10% for all the other struggling education-seekers out there. How bad like?!
