Open late, great lasagna and anti-pasta dish. Service was ok, just took a LONG time for EVERYTHING, the food, the drinks, the bill.

I liked the Carbonara but thought the shrimp apetizer was overpriced with 6 small shrimps in an oily concoction for € 9.95 Their ideas of a king prawn is a small shrimp, stay away from that. The € 5 cocktails were not worth € 5 and the steak was pretty bland. Service was fine but a meal for 2 was € 60, pricey for what we got.

Three very disappointing courses for 25 euro. I would advise anyone thinking the all day dinner menu looks like a good value deal to think again. You will get served food that isn’t fresh and feels like it has been taken from a nearby tesco and re heated. I went to this place with not the greatest of expectations as I had heard that you get what you pay for. I disagree completely and think the food is overpriced and actually made me feel sick afterwards. I went with a friend and got the chicken nachos which had two lumps of chicken over cheap tesco value Doritos which were crushed on the bottom and slathered in even cheaper salsa. Followed by a sloppy and weirdly shaped tex mex burger and lastly profiteroles from a packet with chocolate sauce and cream. My friend got the bruschetta followed by the salmon which he said tasted old and dry along with potatoe gratin which looked more like Mac and cheese and a store bought apple pie to follow. Honestly I will never ever return here and I would advise all you Unilocalers to even go to the nearest tesco and get the same 3 courses for a fraction of the price. Lastly the staff barely speak English and will have massive trouble understanding what you want to order.

Burritos are great here. No frozen margarita because the blender was broken but on the rocks was perfect. Able to order off the early bird so great value at € 13.50. Good selection on the menu too. Cocktails were only € 5

We had the carbonara, and it was without doubt top 5 worst pastas I’ve ever had. It practically didn’t taste anything accept a strange hint of gas. Blender was broken so we couldn’t have a daiquiri and the fact that it was Good Friday and we had water to drink didn’t really boost the experience in a good way. The White chocolate raspberry cheesecake was good, but not close to how good it should have been to raise the grade to a 3⁄5. Service was barely ok, after we finished the food it took about 20 minutes before anyone came to our table, same thing after deserts. Would not recommend anyone to go to this place really.

To clear up any confusion for those of you on the hunt for Mariana and mozzarella nachos, this is not a Mexican-Italian fusion restaurant, but for those of you looking for mediocre offerings of both, you are in luck my friend. While I normally have a rule of staying clear of restaurants that offer very distinct cuisines, the lure of € 5 margaritas revised my position on the subject. In short, the service is dismal, the food is barely edible and the atmosphere is reminiscent of a bad hotel restaurant in the middle of nowhere.

As I still hunt for a good Mexican place to eat, we gave this one a try. Still not close to what we had in San Diego, but a decent place to grab a casual meal while near Template Bar. We had 7of us and the food for the group was okay and the service was fine. I had the prawn fajitas, not bad. The refried beans were a bit bland, but the Mexican rice was quite good actually. You are in temple bar so expect it to be noisy with some good people watching.

Great atmosphere! This was one of the best places for Mexican cuisine in Dublin, that’s saying a lot considering I am from California. Service is excellent and the margs are good(I added another shot).

Not recommended at all! — bad service — waiter took such a long time to first come over and take our order — food was even worse. Way too much oil and grease. — beer was warm and out of a warm glass. So please don’t believe only because it’s right next to temple bar it is good. It’s not.

Tequila Tuesday #27, this time in Ireland! Given that good Mexican is hard to find anywhere other than the North American continent, we were lucky at all to find a place in the Temple Bar area that could suffice for a Mexican and tequila night. Luckily Mexico to Rome had lots of options and cuisines, even if you’re not in the mood for Tequila. I had the nachos, which were pretty good, and others had tacos, fajitas and quesadillas. All around, we sampled the fares, and the general consensus was that our food was good, though nothing special. The flavors were mostly there, but not authentic. The drinks were alright, though small for the price(we had margaritas and tequila sunrises). The service was good – our server was friendly and the food came in a reasonable amount of time. All around, it certainly wasn’t our worst Tequila Tuesday! I would recommend Mexico to Rome, only because I think it’s your best option in the area for a reasonable attempt at Mexican food. It’s not going to be gourmet or authentic, but it does the trick. They also have pretty cool artwork and the atmosphere is warm and inviting, when, as the weather was crap when we were there, you want to tuck in and warm up.

Had dinner here this past weekend. If I had checked Unilocal prior I probably would have passed on it. Location is right in Temple Bar so very busy area, especially on a Saturday night. We went for an early dinner and the early bird menu is certainly reasonably priced for Dublin. While the concept is interesting, the broadness of the menu should have clued us that neither the Italian or Mexican could be that good. Place was tight and we had to squeeze through the small kitchen to get to our table(wasn’t really thrilled to find customer traffic is constantly navigating the place through the kitchen). The place did not have a real clean feel to it and the waiter seemed put off having to take our order. Tried to order the steak off the early bird and they were out; which seemed surprising given the fact we were there early on a Saturday night. Instead had the spaghetti amatriciana. It was OK at best. Other food ordered included the chicken parm(not on the EB menu) which was sub par and would not recommend. On the Mexican side, chicken fajitas were mediocre. Lots of other options for Italian or Mexican in the area so I would recommend going for one or the other and reading the other reviews on Unilocal to find a higher rated place.

arrived at 7 on the dot, just as the early bird was finished. I was able to order off the early bird menu. I had a generous portion of chicken soup done in a coconut milk base. For main I had chilli con carne, which was the nicest i have had. Ther service was very fast, I think they are eager to get people in and out but it is in Templebar afterall. Around € 13.00 for starter and main, you cant go wrong. Tasty and efficient

I ate here for lunch on a Saturday, where they do a two course lunch plus a glass of wine for 9.99. Extra glasses of wine are 3 euro. My food was nice, corn nachos and a nice average salsa dip. My goats cheese burger was homemade, moist & topped with a very generous slice of goats cheese. Fries were decent too. Wine was very moreish. Service friendly and attentive. They also informed me that all their pasta dishes were available with gluten free pasta. Result! Check it out.

I am always on the hunt for a good Mexican restaurant, especially since I have been living here in Europe, so when the guy I was with at the time, asked, «How about this?» I liked the idea of having Mexican for dinner, but I was a little skeptical of the fact that they did both Mexican and Italian food. It was miserable outside, so he was ready to eat anywhere, and I figured that it looked fairly busy, so it had to be decent. I did not realize that while we entered through a door in the square from Temple Bar, the restaurant also overlooks the river if you walk all the way through. The staff led us through the first dining area, through the kitchen(yes… a bit strange), and to the second dining area. The décor was just as confused as the menu. There was a set menu, but if I was going to have Mexican food, I wanted the Mixed Dips(guacamole, sour cream, and refried beans), I also figured that if we didn’t eat all of the dips, I could use them for my beef burrito. My date had the Mexican Gambas and the chicken burrito. The guacamole and sour cream were nice, but the refried beans were served cold, which was not what I was expecting. The chips were very salty and I seemed to be drinking my water faster than the waiter could fill it up. The Mexican Gambas certainly looked nice when it came out and according to my date they were good(remember that he is the kind to eat anything and everything). It was a little cramped in the restaurant, we were at a table in the middle of the dining room where most of the wait staff were walking back and forth and I was just a little worried every time they walked by that something was going to get knocked off of the table. However, there was a group of about 6 or 8 on the other side, so they at least had room for groups. That being said, it really is not a setting for a romantic date… as we and other couples(which made up most of the tables) in the restaurant found out. It was really loud and difficult to hear each other if you are trying to have a conversation, in fact I probably heard more of the conversations around me. Our food came out and looked good… however, the meat inside of the burrito(both the beef and chicken) could’ve used more seasoning. The rice and the beans did not have much flavor either. The food was edible and while it satisfied my hunger, I wouldn’t say that I enjoyed it. And I know that we were in Temple Bar, but I still found it really expensive(yes, I picked up the bill…) for the quality of food that was served. I don’t know how their Italian food is, but maybe the Italian food on the menu is what they do better and maybe why the Mexican food wasn’t as good? I’m trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but maybe they just need to focus on one type of food over another.

Mediocrity — Mexican and Italian style! This is not a place I’d go back to. It wasn’t that it was so terrible, but it definitely was not great. Pre-packaged meals at Dunnes taste better and is far cheaper. Price: It’s in temple bar, so naturally it’s overpriced. Food: Bland. When I dine out, I expect something of better quality than Supermax. Atmosphere: It is a nice, café-style atmosphere. Service: The waiter was efficient. Offered to take my coat and hang it up. My lunch experience: I had a 2-course special. The first course was nachos, which consisted of some spice mince and a load of tortilla chips. There were a few peppers and a tiny(and I do mean tiny) sprinkling of cheese. I was pretty disappointed with this, as the mince was of poor quality and was quite runny. It tasted, though I’d hope it wasn’t, like it came out of a chili can from Lidl. When the main course arrived, which was a burrito, it was cold. I’m not sure why this was the case, as there was only one other couple there. The only way I can figure this, is that they made the main and starter at the same time and then let the main sit. Not good. The burrito was filled with the same miserable mince and topped with a few dollops of sour cream and the tiniest sprinkle of cheese. There are far better places to eat in Temple Bar.

My sugar and I ended up in Mexico to Rome on a Saturday night after finding out that where we wanted to eat was closed.(Cue sad face) We figured, like Aoife said, that we could each find something appetising on a menu of Italian and Mexican dishes. I feel compelled to mention here that 1. I was born in LA and raised in Texas, so i know my Mexican food, and 2. I am equal parts Irish and Italian, so I know my Italian too :) That said, Mexico to Rome was adequate. We were seated in the back, overlooking the quays, so the view made for a nice atmosphere. The kitchen is in the centre, between the Temple Bar side dining room at the entrance, and the river side room in back. Walking through the kitchen to be seated was a bit odd. We ordered Mexican, I had the guacamole appetiser and chicken burrito, and my BF had nachos and a beef burrito. Both were served with rice and beans, which were anything but authentic and led to a lengthy lecture of the«these are not right, wait until I cook Mexican, you’ll see…» variety. As one would expect in Temple Bar, the food was overpriced, service was minimal, and the food was edible. Perhaps the Roman section of the menu is better. Or the tapas mentioned by Aoife?

I ended up in Mexico to Rome early one evening after wandering the cobbles of Temple Bar for a while with an undecided group, diverse in taste and nationality. Nobody was really prepared to make a decision one way or another and when we found ourselves outside Mexico to Rome, we just wandered on in. It was a good choice at the time because most people, the world over, will find either a Mexican or Italian dish to suit their tastes(or perhaps that’s an outrageous generalisation by me!) We sat at the window and enjoyed Temple Bar strolling by at sunset. The service was good but it was lacking a bit in atmosphere. The food wasn’t memorable but everybody found something to suit and it certainly wasn’t terrible. I hear that they’ve introduced tapas too so it should be Mexico to Madrid to Rome now!
