If you’re looking for a quirky(yet friendly) bar, close to Grafton St this is it — half bar, half hardware shop, worth a look for the novelty value alone. For those looking for a break from the seasonal shopping — try the Murphy’s Nollaig brew to help you feel even more Christmassy

Small but fun bar slash hardware store(if you go there you will understand lol). Spent a couple of night there this week. Great, genuine fun staff. Highly recommend it for a laid back quiet drink. Plus you can charge your phone here too with their portable chargers.

Cool place, a must visit to drink a pint or two after work. The location is very good because it is situated in the city centre next to Graphton Street. The atmosphere and the people working there are really nice and friendly and what is most important, they pour Guinness very well. Do not hesitate and go to this characteristic pub.

The first time that I saw a hardware shop inside a pub(or maybe a beer tab inside a hardware shop) was in Dingle. In that case was after a succession of events that only few people in Dingle can tell properly. Mary´s pub follows this idea, to translate the rural pub to the city center of Dublin, and I have to say: well done! The beer is the important there but if you become hungry you can grab a Ham and Cheese sandwich with soup(don’t forget that you are in a real Irish Pub ;) Good place for a pint after work or after shopping in Grafton Street, ideal to catch up with friends or event work colleagues.

Such a simple little bar — there is very little to it. a very mixed crowd here! young, old, hipster, normal, those, people out for wine, people our for beer … just so so mixed, all ages and all types — which really appeals to me !!! a toastie is like € 6.something — ehhhhhhhhhhhhh no thanks ! im not spending that much on a simple ham and cheese toasty … its always always jammers here — great for the business, but don’t count on getting a seat — inside or out. top marks for the bar staff ! absolute legends ! funny, recommended different types of whiskeys and scotch, interacted and chatted to everyone and were a great laugh!!! and they sell bars of chocolate behind the bar … and crackers. yes, crackers and lots more not to mention tins of paint and DIY essentials(for show of course :-))

Nice old timey bar. Surprisingly large inside. Lots of seating(50⁄50 back support) Decent range of good quality beer and a great little bench outside to sit on when the road works clears up.

Love Mary’s. Love the makeshift ‘booths’ towards the back of this vintage style bar. It smells newer, it’s clean, it’s interesting, and it’s got a nice local draw. Thumbs up to Mary and the great idea to grab the prime real estate just across from BT!

I had: Rising Road pale ale and a ham and cheese toastie Nice, chilled out spot for a casual night out. Felt a bit like I had wandered into a set from Father Ted(in the best possible way). There was a mixed crowd but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and there was a great buzz to the place despite the lack of music. Great place if you want to chat without having to compete with the latest selection of chart choonz. For soakage they also serve ham and cheese toasties made with proper thick chunks of ham and batch bread and served with cheese and onion crisps. Nom! Other options were chicken and bacon and tuna melts. Definitely a beer and spirits kinda place. If you’re looking for an extensive wine list this is not the place for you as they only had one type of white available(Sauvignon blanc). If you want to buy a hammer and some marrow fat peas with your pint this is the spot for you!

Good spot to pop into for a pint. Nice relaxed atmosphere with cool décor around the place. Good selection of crafties too.

Wow! What a find! This is place is a treasure trove of nostalgia. A faithful recreation of the old irish general hardware/grocer/pub. The walls are packed with light bulbs and nails, they have a good selection of crafted beers. Definitely worth paying a visit!

I heard about this place about 2 days before it opened and was instantly intrigued. I got onto one of the bartenders to find out more and he told me it was a ‘country pub’ which made no sense to me at all as it’s nestled in the environs of Grafton Street a dozen steps away from shoppers paradise I had to go in the next day to have a look and LOVED it. From the ashes of AKA, Base Bar, Wild and Madison, the phoenix has risen and it’s called Mary’s. At the risk of ruining the surprise, it’s not called Bar and Hardware Store for nothing. It’s actually based on a period general store with a bar in it. Not only based on… it actually IS a general store with a bar in it. It’s perfectly acceptable to approach the bar and ask Stephen or Christopher for a gin and tonic, pint of stout, ham and cheese toastie on batch bread, a tin of spam, marmite, a box of nails, fly papers, a macaroon bar and rat poison. This place is amazing!
My advice is to have a good look around then stand at the bar and watch people’s reactions as they enter. Another important thing to remember is DONOTBRINGYOURGIRLFRIEND as directly across the street are the Brown Thomas handbag windows. Don’t say you weren’t warned. Check it out, I’m already a regular!
