Lovely soup with perfect homemade granary bread. Fish and chips a little pricey but worthy. Delicious garlic bread. I recommend the restaurant.

Tried the kingfisher for the first time yesterday and it was pretty good I have to say! I’d heard a lot of good things and wanted to see if the small chipper lived up to its reputation. I ordered a smoke cod and curry chips and wasn’t disappointed with the food at all. It was incredibly fresh and I saw the cod being battered and deep fried as I waited. The chips weren’t as full as they could have been and it was quite expensive at € 10.40 but other than that I had absolutely no issues with the place! Within half an hour of ordering I was back in work demolishing my small feast.

Thanks to previous reviews we decided to go all the way across the street from our hotel to eat. Wonderful staff. My salmon was perfect but mashed potatoes were a bit dry. The lamb was delish. Worth a visit.

Went in for a full irish with a friend. We had a seat within 10 seconds, menu within 30, our order taken after 2 minutes and the food out on our tables shortly after. EXCELLENT service. The full irish was amazing and well worth the € 8.50 — nothing fancy, but not rotten. It did the job. This all came after trying to get a fry in the café next door, but waiting an unreasonable amount of time to even get our order. Walking out of that place and into Kingfisher was a great decision. Went in 2 days later to kingfisher and had another great experience

Most excellent café with great service and value. Just had the all day breakfast for 9.95. They do a wide range of food, from Fish and chips to whole rainbow trout to steak and veg.

I can not consider myself an expert or fanatic of fish and chips in general, but this place made me wanna come back soon. I went twice, once to try the irish breakfast, the second for lunch. I must say the irish breakfast didn’t impress me, even though it’s filling and not expensive. On the other hand, lunch it’s the reason why I’m writing this review. I had a very tasty and large piece of salmon, accompanied by vegs and a pint of guinness, enough for a proper lunch. Not only it was good, but also cheap. I will go again.

Went twice, breakfast and lunch. Breakfast quite good veggie omlelet very filling and hit the spot. Lunch with grilled haddock and steamed veggies. Very good. Small place but turns out meals efficiently. Friendly folks. Always busy. Locally supported. Has to be good, right? Easily accessible from Moore St.

Presumably every country has some equivalent of a greasy spoon diner. In the US, these are some of my favorite establishments, serving breakfast all day and triple decker club sandwiches with shoestring fries. In Dublin this was the first place we happened upon after reaching our hotel from the airport, and convenience won out over quality. There was nothing wrong with the place per se, it just had a slightly seedy dingy quality without any of the charm you get in an American hole in the wall. The décor was spartan to say the least, but the service was quick and the food decent if nothing to write home about. If you’re drunk or rushed, this place will probably fit the bill just fine. If you have more time on your hands, keep looking around.

I’ve been meaning to try this place for a while and I should have gone sooner! I ordered grilled haddock with chips and it was really amazing. They know how to cook their fish and when I had a million questions about the menu the server was nice and patient and able to answer everything. If you want your fish GF you can either have it steamed or grilled. I’m going back for more delicious fish very soon.

Kingfisher: Probably the only restaurant open at 9:30am on a ‘Bank Holiday Monday’! True Story! So, after prowling around the streets of Dublin at this ungodly hour on a holiday weekend, we finally discovered that this spot was open. A quick preview of the establishment on Unilocal and a look at the unexpected breakfast menu and we were roped in… For about five euro, order two breakfast items a la carte and have them stuffed in a baguette. I ordered the rosemary potatoes with a medium poached egg and it was delicious and actually could have been shared — nice healthy size! My partner ordered the regular breakfast for the same price and enjoyed it but preferred my breakfast baguette after he took a big bite of it! The décor is nice: old photographs from way back when, dark chairs and tables, and an aquarium! There’s even a full espresso bar. There’s also a sign that claims they have the best chips in Dublin — hmmm, didn’t try them but that is very well debatable…

The outside of this restaurant proudly displays a sign that says Dublin’s best fish and chips and while I cannot say I have tried all the fish and chips in town I doubt that I would find any that are better tasting than the codfish fish and chips that I had for lunch. The Kingfisher epitomizes the City of Dublin in that it is a friendly place where people congregate to have a good meal and a good time. This is just a terrific little restaurant where people conduct business over lunch or where locals have a traditional Irish breakfast with friends. It is clear that the locals love this place. If you visit the Kingfisher ask to sit at a table where Kamal«The Moroccan Waiter» is serving. Kamal is attentive and friendly and if you need directions to a landmark Kamal will get you there. If I lived in this town I would dine here regularly just to say hello to Kamal.

a Chilly summer night Rain just started beating down on us as we frantically searched Parnell St. for some warm food Greeted with friendly service and huge orange juice machines being freshly churned at the entrance. Free Wifi is always a plus! But we had food on our minds. We ordered pretty much everything on the menu. From the fish and chips, to the Irish Guiness stew, to buffalo wings(I was missing American food), to steak, to 3 kinds of dessert(2 Cheesecakes, Dutch apple crusted pie a la mode). Ah-maa-zing! No complaints! I’d fly back to Dublin(from Hawaii) in a heartbeat just to have a warm delicious meal here again! A MUSTTRY on a chilly night

Looking for Dublin’s best fish & chips, this place came highly recommended. unfortunately, I think this place must’ve gone downhill — the fish was greasy, the batter coating was not cooked enough(maybe the fryer temp needs adjusting?), and the chips were obviously frozen. Worst part: one of us ordered the whiting(in fish & chips form-factor, naturally) and it came with all its bones, skin and tail! How do you even eat that? Peel off the batter, remove the tail, glue the batter coating back on, then eat it? I thought the bones and tail thing ATLEAST should’ve been disclosed. Yuck.

Eh… Dublin was the first stop on our holiday in Europe and we wanted to get breakfast to «celebrate» our safe arrival. We ordered some sort of breakfast special, which was only deemed«special» because it came with champagne. My companion ordered the large Irish breakfast while I got smoked salmon on brown bread. While setting us up with our silverware and whatnot, the(Asian) waitress asked me, «Hey, are you Asian?» and I said, «Uh… yes…» and she responded, «I can tell,» with a knowing smile. Weirdo! Anyway, when she came back with the champagne, she seemed nervous as she started to open it. The cork didn’t budge after she’d untwisted the wire cage so she gave it a little jostle and POP!!! The cork went flying into a wall, right above a gentleman’s head(whom she startled pretty badly and could have killed) and then the champagne started bubbling like crazy. But instead of letting it drip onto the floor, she decided to dangle it above our table, allowing it to drown my companion’s breakfast and spilled a bunch on his pants! She was gasping, «Oh sh*t! Oh sh*t!» as this was all happening, which probably did not make the cute little family behind us happy at all, considering they had a young, influential son. Anyway, in the end, we got a 10% discount, which wasn’t much considering the fact that half of the champagne had been spilled on the floor, but it gave us a fun story to recount. Overall though, the food was decent.
