The place is fabulous, its like a real tunnel that was renovated to be the amazing place it is now. There is also an outside seating area, and it makes me feel like I’m in Italy. The atmosphere is amazing from the candle sticks that emphasize the tunnel experience. Plus the walls were kept stony, bare but with a few thing hanging on that did not ruin the atmosphere of the restaurant. i havent tried their food yet, i have only gone for coffee and desserts which were delicious, but, i am planing to go for dinner soon.

A beautiful place to escape the city for a good steak. Tip: You might be asked what sauce you would like with your steak then get stung with an addition of 3e to your bill.

I’d like to give an honorary 6 stars here. This was one of my all-time favorite meals. I fell in love with this restaurant as soon as we walked in. You feel like you’re sitting down to a meal in a cozy little wine cellar. Service was excellent, wine was ideal and the food was some of the best Italian I’ve had. I recommend Il Baccaro without hesitation.

Nice casual atmosphere feels like a wine cellar. Young polite Italian servers were great. Pasta was fresh and the sauces and desserts fantastic.

You know how picky Italians are on Italian restaurants abroad. Well, Il Baccare is definitely in my top five list. Went there a couple of times and had amazing food, great service too. Their forest fruit pannacotta is to die for, yesterday evening I got to drink my beloved Montenegro with ice too, always a pleasure after months! Will definitely be back.

Just had a fantastic dinner at this beautiful Italian restaurant in the heart of Dublin City centre. Two of my friends had their birthdays and we decided to celebrate it at Il Baccaro. We have spent over 3 hours here having great laugh, lovely dinner and we have been looked after by the staff the way that well exceeded our expectations. The master chief certainly knew what he was doing when it came to preparing our dinner. we even asked for that wasn’t really in the menu and he has cooked our meal specifically to our taste. I certainly recommend to dine here, we definitely will be back again soon.

Great pasta dishes, friendly service and a relaxed lower level cave atmosphere. Fabulous place for a relaxing Italian dinner.

I went with my girlfriend to a very early lunch on a tuesday, we were the first customers that day but the food was great. Menu of the day was 12.90 and the starter was HUGE(I had an amazing soup of mussels — zuppa di cozza), but the main was algo HUGE(porchetta — a beautifully cooked pork meat with very nice roasted potatoes). I need to come back to try pasta, pizza and tiramisu. In that order ;-)

Went here on a Friday night with no reservations, which was no problem. The place itself is very cozy with dimmed lights and high round ceilings made from brick. The service was fast and very helpful, there are plenty of GF which was great since I often have issues with this in Italian restaurants. I had a meat/cheese plate as a starter and it was great 3 kinds of cheese and four kinds of meat and it was the perfect amount for a starter. Main course was chicken filled with spinach in a cheese sauce with roasted potatoes and it was very good and very filling. My dad had a steak that was awesome and almost melted on the tongue and my sister had the bolognese which she seemed to enjoy. Great wine menu and the waiters actually know how to pair wine with the food which is always a plus. I will be back to try more of this yummy Italian(yes I am coming back for the cheese!!)

Quite possibly my favourite Italian restaurant outside of Italy. The menu is unpretentious, changes often, the staff are friendly, the food is seasonal — and always delicious. The location, although based in Temple Bar(which can be noisy) is wonderful. As you enter the cavernous cellar it’s like be back in Siena. We often come here for celebrations and I can’t recommend it enough!

This place is a hidden gem ! I never even knew it was here up until recently its well hidden ! What a wonderful find though ! Really authentic Italian food !!! food is delicious !!! Staff were nice and the restaurant itself is relaxing, comfortable and spacious. They do a lunch deal, 2 courses(starter and main) for € 13.00 ! I got brochette for starters which was delicious ! better than any other i got in any other Italian restaurant and for main i just got pasta but the sauce was delicious ! and my mother got chicken and potatoes which was also Delicious(i tried some) they don’t seem to accompany the dish with a bit of salad though(which i like, for a bit of presentation and colour plus your kind of supposed to have a bit of veg and such with meals) however this could be just the Italian way ! they do lovely wines here also. suitable for couples and also good for groups ! not really great for kids !

The first thing i can say about this place… AMAZING! I went there a couple of time and I had a divine italian meal. It was like to be at home(i am italian). I had a fresh italian starter at the beginning and then, I tried the beef lasagne as main course. fabulous!!! The place is small but so welcoming and warm at the same time. I really recommed it if you are looking for a real italian spot in a foreign country!!!

Very pleasant and satisfying meal. Cute place, though not as romantic as it looks in the photos. Service was very friendly, if not always efficient. Well-known in the guidebooks so plenty of tourists, but we did not find the menu to be touristy or stereotypical. Found the starter choices a bit limited, but very good entrée selection. Overall an enjoyable experience, though I would not be rushing back if I lived in Dublin.

I did not expect to find one of the best Italian meals of my life in the middle of Temple Bar in Dublin, Ireland! But here it was, a delicious, very authentic Italian restaurant with delicious food at reasonable prices! Both times we ate here, we started by ordering mozzarella di buffalo with prosciutto, which came with a pile of rocket(arugula) and drizzles of basil oil… simple, beautiful presentation, high quality product, and a delightful melody on the taste buds!!! For my main dish, I ordered the gnocchi marinara. This might sound super-simple, but OH!!! The flavors were magnificent!!! The gnocchi were perfectly cooked pillows of yum, the sauce was extraordinary, light, and so very tomato-y without being abrasive with seasonings overly sweet or tart, or too acidic… in fact, I would’ve done anything to be able to watch in the kitchen to see how they made the sauce, so I could replicate it at home!!! Since my brain was craving all the comforts of stereotypical Italian food, I ordered the Tiramisu for dessert… and it was also lovely!!! Having eaten tiramisu in zillions of restaurants over the years, and having made it myself many a time, I have to say this was among the best I’ve had! The prices were very reasonable, especially for those of us traveling from the States who were already struck with sticker shock at how expensive Dublin is for food. The wine was delicious as well: I ordered Pinot Grigio and my partner ordered a red table wine. The ambiance inside Il Baccaro is lovely: You walk down a few steps into a cozy, warmly lit, subterranean cavern that feels intimate, romantic, and cheerful. There is various décor, including a wall-hanging that playfully says, «Le Dijo El Mosquito a La Rana, Mas Vale Morir En El Vino, Que Vivir En El Agua!»(Said the mosquito to the frog, it’s better to die in the wine than live in the water!) This would be a great place to go on a date or with parents for a quiet and relaxing evening out. If I lived locally, this would be one of my regular haunts. Surely the next time I am in Dublin I’ll find myself drawn to Il Baccaro by the memories of those pillowy, scrumptious gnocchi!!!

I’ve been here a few times and there are a few great things to say and one or two things to avoid. The atmosphere is lovely, it’s like being in a little piece of Italy. The food is amazing — they have a really good bruschetta starter and an AMAZING fillet steak main. The staff are all very charming and attentive, and also all Italian(as far as I can tell) which adds to the overall atmosphere of the place. They squeezed myself and my boyfriend in on valentines day, even when we didn’t have a booking and they were full to the brim! The only bad thing I can say about it is that there is one table right next to the door that is VERY cold and windy. I definitely would not recommend sitting there as the door is opened a lot, especially at peak times, and you’ll freeze! No real room for buggys and prams but they do have high chairs for babies.

I got here for a celebration with friends to Il Baccaro the other day; to my suprise I always walked passed this place, shame on me! The location has a nice feeling to it, like being in the catacombs of the Italian of old, in a big ‘thumbs up-kinda-way’, if you know what I mean… The menu has a good range to it, with dishes one doesn’t find in the ‘standard’ Italian around the corner, and a very nice treat indeed!

In a cellar in a square off a side street. We both started the chick pea and pasta soup — hearty and tasty. Entrees were a tasty risotto and basic but perfectly cooked meat ravioli in a light tomato sauce. Decent house wine by the half or full carafe and food service. The menu is fairly limited. We had theater tickets and came in at 6 and were the only diners.

Great food and wine in a cosy atmosphere, but as has been pointed out here, staff are a bit snobby and service isn’t great, if it was I’d give it 4 stars.

This restaurant probably makes Italian tourists feel how Irish people do when they go abroad and have a drink in an Irish pub. It looks just like a pub in Ireland, you scratch your head, wonder where they get all this whacky paddy junk from and get the waft of what being in the matrix must feel like. This restaurant in the vaults under the Georgian buildings above, replete with melty wax candles, spherical wine bottles with string mesh on them and two dogs eating spaghetti Bolognese out the back is quintessentially what I picture when I think movie-Italy. The food here is good, sturdy fare, nothing too fancy and the portions are big and filling. The atmosphere is what originally attracted me, the price, crucially, is what made me come back again. A good little restaurant that’s fun for a relatively inexpensive meal at with friends.

An Italian restaurant like you get in Italy, rather than one you might experience in Dublin… it probably should get a better review than I’m giving it based on it’s food alone… but they’re just a bit snotty here. Actually the last time I attempted to go here with a friend we were told they were not taking in any more diners and then let two other people in who came after us! We were not impressed! The restaurant itself is in a pretty cellar and is quite atmospheric. The menu is a little confusing in that you get these different types of food but it’s unclear what bits you order together to make a meal… now if the staff were nice then that would be a bit of fun and part of the experience, but they seem to look down on your confusion like a stereotypical snooty butler… I gave them a couple of chances. I did eat here a few times, but I won’t be going back!
