Historical Walking Tours of Dublin

I am from California and just completed the tour this morning! Grace, who just received her doctorate in history at Trinity College in Dublin led the tour and she was amazing!
I found reviews for this tour on
and they were all very positive. I booked online via their website several months in advance. Book ahead… it seems like this tour is very popular.
We met our group at Front Gate in Trinity College on Grafton street and College Green. The group size was about 20 people, which was larger than I expected but completely do-​able, considering how Grace made sure to talk only when we were stopped and when we could all hear her.
She took us through Trinity College, The Bank of Ireland, Christ Church, Temple Bar, City Hall, and Dublin Castle. Each location played a major role in Ireland’s history and I would’ve taken this for granted if it hadn’t been for this tour. Ireland is so rich in its history that no matter where you are from, you can’t help but to appreciate it.
Grace told us about Vikings, King Henry II and VIII, queen Elizabeth the first, King Louis the 14^th, the American Revolution, the development of Temple Bar, the England-​Ireland struggle, Civil War, how Queen Elizabeth had Trinity College formed for Protestants and what it took for Catholics to enroll, and so much more!
Bring an umbrella… the tour goes on rain or shine. The tour lasts about 2 hours, but because of the rain, Grace ended the tour after 2 hours and 30 minutes to made sure we had our fill. Wear walking shoes! Remember this is a walking tour!
Don’t take Dublin for granted… it has a very colorful history and many stories to be told! Book this tour!!!

Trinity College Walking Tour of Dublin. Highly recommended. Wonderfully enjoyable walking tour in the heart of Dublin. Led by an historian called Donal. The places he took us and his explanations of the happenings were fascinating, learned and very entertaining. As well as explaining the crucial aspects of Dublin & Irish history he also told us the local jokes, and pointed out the comic absurdity of human endeavor.

Amazing! Our tour guide, Peter, was really knowledgeable about Dublin’s history and the significance of many landmarks. He took us through over 1200 years of history in just over 2 hours. I learned so much, and was able to appreciate the city I was touring so much more. Highly recommended!

On our first full day in Dublin, my friend and I went on the Historical Walking Tour of Dublin led by Tommy Graham. It was an excellent introduction to a city full of history! The tour lasted 2 hours, and we made maybe half a dozen longer stops at some of the major sites — Trinity College Dublin, Bank of Ireland, Dublin Castle, Christ Church Cathedral, Temple Bar — where Tommy gave short, informative lectures. I thought his style was engaging and easy to follow, he covered a lot of material, and I was impressed by how much information I retained. I was also impressed by how much this tour helped me get my bearings in the central tourist area — we got some ideas about places we wanted to revisit, and were glad that we were able to find them when we trekked on our own. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who is even remotely interested in Irish history.
