Customer service goes a long way in my opinion. This is reason I don’t drive to the closer supermarket or Spar and shop at Higgins

The staff here are so friendly and seem to go out of their way to help you pick what they believe to be the perfect tipple for your meal/​occasion (and by the way they really know their stuff)
I would mark this as a business that is a genuine pleasure to frequent, and one which always has me leaving with a big smile on my goofy mug :)

Popped in to buy a bottle of wine as a gift… and my studying of the pattern on the labels wasn’t helping so I gladly accepted an offer of assistance. I got asked a few question like my budget, and got directed to a nice wine which was under what I was willing to pay. Very efficient, pleasant and sophisticated considering their clientele must usually be students looking for maximum booze content with minimum cost. A great little offy!

The closest off licence to UCD and therefore I would guess one of the most profitable off licences in Dublin! Whenever there was a party to go to on campus you would often make the long trek out to Higgy’s as it was referred to by everyone I knew! The trick was to buy something that was small and very alcoholic because you had to trek all the way back to the party house with your boozy booty and carrying a slab of beer was never easy! Not for my puny arms anyway! One thing I always liked about this off licence, and it is only a small thing, the guy behind the counter knew that you were only buying those two cheap bottles of wine to skull back at a house party but he always wrapped them in pretty pink tissue with a twist at the top to keep it in place, just a nice touch I thought, not that it was significant when you got to the party, but still!
