Every morning on the way to work I was distracted by signs advertising the market in Glasnevin taking place each Saturday and Sunday. It sounded great-on from 10−5pm on Saturday, 11−5pm on Sunday; food/fashions/knick knacks… Unfortunately the reality was not quite as I had envisaged. My first reactions were-«where is it?», followed by «is THIS it?!?». A couple of lonely stalls placed in an industrial park car park looking forlorn. So few people were around that I could barely pluck up the courage to check them out. The advertisements also mentioned a covered section… this was basically a few small shops(discount clothing, coffee etc) in a small mall. Special mention to «TK Micks» for the amusing name though! I was mildly excited by the discovery of Henshaws butchers because they put together two of my favourite words-«discount + meat»…but it’s basically just a little meat shop/Portakabin. Advantage? It’s across the road from Glasnevin Lidl which is a nice one. If you want to do your shopping there, the market might be worth a look. They may also get some more stalls-I notice they are advertising for more stall holders on the website. Right now, it’s not worth going out of your way!
