Evolution is a great store for buying unique, cool things which would be hard to find n other places. It sells candles which you can get in all snapped and sizes, all different wind chimes and they sell quite cool jewellery which is made by different tribes from south america and Africa. You can also pick up some great knick knacks. Evolution is a great store for just browsing in or for buying some last minute gifts. It really is a great little shop and well worth a visit

Knick knacks. Trinkets. White elephants. Shopping in evolution feels like a trip through Pheobe Buffet’s apartment –lots of kooky, mirrored and hand made(ish) hanging/smelling/jokey things in a riot of colours. Of course, unlike Friends, this shop is aging well. There’s really no rhyme or reason to the stock in Evolution, other than entertaining the eye and brightening up a room. Those colourful bead curtains would be a boon to any pre-teen bedroom, and the girlfriendy mugs and magnets make excellent workmate gifts. With so little direction and so much fun, Evolution is worth a look just for the shock value of those feather boa door hangers.

Optimistically, Evolution has shopping baskets by the door, to aid those who feel like they need a whole lot of cushions shaped like smiley faces/worry dolls from Guatemala/amusing hot water bottle covers. And while you probably won’t need a personal sherpa to carry your purchases, there are some nice gift and homewares here, including xylophones shaped like cows, old-style French clocks and mosaic-edged picture frames. Also, as a company, Evolution operates on Buddhist principles and tries to ensure that all its products are ethically traded, so it appears to be one of the good guys. So go on, buy the candle shaped like a robot, you know you want it…

I’m very fond of this little shop, even though you do begin to know what to expect after a while. It’s the kind of shop that sells wind chimes and candle and small boxes that seem to have no purpose. It also has a range of pretty cushions and hangy things which you might like to have around the place. I’m particularly fond of their fair trade jewelry and accessories at the back which are usually interesting and generally quite cheap. I always wander in around Christmas or when I’m looking for a gift because you never know what might leap out at you!

Evolution is great for when you are stuck for something to buy your Auntie, Nan or Godmother! Tacky /Quirky /Weird objects and ornaments for your home and garden. They sell things that you definitely don’t need but somehow wish you had, like the big fat cat cookie jar!

Evolution is filled with gifts and knick knacks that you might not need but that you’re tempted to buy anyways. It’s the perfect place to impulse buy. You can shop for candles, incense, photo albums, figurines, glass chimes and masks. None of these items are necessities but all things improve the decoration and atmosphere of your home. Right now they’re having a sale on older stock. I didn’t buy anything despite the cheap prices. I did see an interesting wood monkey statue that was 50% off but it was too tacky, even for my apartment. I nearly purchased a ceramic salt and pepper shaker of two figurines embracing. It was only a fiver too. Next time!
