Mary C., I hear you! Emma’s sales floor was empty on my visit –one or two other rack-pagers going through the slightly pricey collections of soft jumpers and structured skirts –and though two staff were in, you could hear I pin drop. I browsed the racks, fancied a magnificently delicate chain with a «B» charm(€ 25? I’ll pass) and had a dig through the sale baskets to the tune of silence. I very nearly went home with the dusty pink wrap-shirt, but skipped once I came to my senses and saw the € 65 reduced from € 80… is still € 65 and way out of my budget(for now).

Emma is a great little shop in this area that does have some very decently priced higher-end clothes. As Jo mentioned, the dresses are especially cute. They’re frilly and girly, so if you’re looking for leather and chains, this isn’t your cup of tea. They currently have a really lovely collection of jewel-toned apparel for the coming autumn season as well as some really adorable coats, which took my breath away. At 210 euros, I couldn’t afford the one I wanted, but it’s not terribly, terribly unreachable, right? When I walked in I tried to say hello to the sales assistants but they didn’t seem interested in acknowledging me. Not even a smile. They were helping a woman find a dress for a party, so at least they weren’t total jerks. I have to mention that their sales are off the hook! I wasn’t looking to buy anything, but I almost bought a dress just for the fact that the price was so heavily reduced. That’s a dangerous way to think, so I high-tailed it out of there.

Emma is a pleasant enough women’s clothing store in boutique-heavy Clarendon Street. At the minute brightly coloured, flowing summer dresses adorn the clothes racks and a range of sparkly, shiny accessories and cuteness shoes complete the picture. With its mid-range prices and some decent sale items, Emma could be the place to pick out something special for a tea or cocktail party, but only if you can stand to queue for the changerooms! I tried to try on a couple of dresses(impulse buying is one of my greater talents) but found the shop assistants too busy to deal with me and the changerooms too full to accommodate me. Oh well, it was a Saturday…
