Can’t cope with these chicken wings! OHMYGOD! They are to die for! It’s a cozy little alternative restaurant in templebar!

Yes!!! Eat here! Medium sized place with yet again free wifi. Came in about an hour from close after a concert. Was able to be seated right away. Wait staff was super friendly and helpful. My sister order a garlic burger that came with a large garlic clove roasted on jt and it smelled and looked amazing. I ordered the couscous with shrimp and like sauce. Holy crap! I wanted more even when I was done. It was so amazing. Order this when you go! And that’s all I have to say about that. Jackée

Me and My Future(the hubby) ordered wings and the mozzarella burger to share and it was plenty Good. So glad we came across this place! Totally satisfied. Diner tip: try the wings! I agree with everyone else; not to spicy and not to weak.

I’m a big fan of the chicken wings here — they are the real deal! The very same as you get in the USA! The stilton burger is also another hit here! Gets very busy here so reserving a table is a must!

You MUST try the chicken wings. If there’s one thing to remember when you go here it’s to order a portion of the chicken wings, everything else comes second. I first tried this place about 4 years ago and this was when my addiction began. Now every time I visit Dublin I’m not satisfied until I’ve had a basket of them washed down with a glass of their elderflower soda. When you look around the restaurant there’s normally 90% of the tables with a basket. The wings are crispy, tangy, spicy pieces of heaven served with blue cheese dip, a stick of celery and of course a water bowl to wash your saucy fingers in after. One basket is normally enough for two to share with a side of chips, although that said I’d be happy to devour a full basket to myself. Enough about the wings though they do also serve soup, sandwiches, omelettes, salads, brunch type food and burgers etc. Believe it or not I have tried some of these things and there French toast was pretty epic as was their mozzarella and pesto burger. Prices are decent considering it is situated in the middle of temple bar. The restaurant doesn’t take pre– bookings and is always pretty full so you really just have to turn up and hope your in luck to get a table immediately or give your name at the desk and they’ll add you to their list. They’ll normally give you a time to return at, which for me has never been more than an hour and when your in Temple bar there’s always plenty going on to pass the time and an hour wait to satisfy my addiction it definitely worth it!

An American breakfast in the heart of Temple Bar sums up how authentic Temple bar is. The service was shocking. I watched 4 waiters circle trying to avoid customers as I arrived when Breakfast was ending and they didnt want to take orders. Lunch didnt start until 12. My son arrived first so he got to order. I arrived at 11.31 and I didnt. So I had a juice and coffee and he had the California breakfast. 15 euro. Would I come back. Probably not. Nothing special. The place is clean and the toilets are clean. The coffee was average but the juice was freshly squeezed. 4.25 for a glass of OJ

I’ll start by recommending the wings. Do yourself a favor and order these!!! They were the best wings I’ve had in a while. The sauce was exactly to my liking. Spicy but not overpowering. I left Dublin wishing to go back for more wings. Another menu item I would recommend is the French toast & maple syrup. It was the perfect combination of sweetness and very fresh.

We came here for breakfast one morning wanting somewhat of an American breakfast. I was pretty impressed. I got the California sunrise breakfast. It came with fresh squeezed orange juice, tea or coffee,(I got apple mint tea) eggs, hash browns, I got ham instead of bacon, and French toast. I got my eggs scrambled. The hash browns were like home fries w/onions, so good! The ham was delicious! It had a wonderful grilled flavor. The French toast was just OK. One side was kind of burnt so that’s all I tasted. My husband and I got a pancake to share to see what they were like. It was the size of a silver dollar pancake which was good because it wasn’t very good. No flavor and it was cold. The staff was friendly and the prices reasonable.

Stopped by the Elephant and Castle for breakfast to start my last day in Dublin. What a quaint little café located in the Temple Bar area. The staff are excellent and very friendly, they make you feel welcome. I picked the California Sunrise Breakfast which came with Fresh OJ, coffee, eggs, streaky bacon, French Toast, and Hash Browns. The OJ is fabulous and refreshing with the coffee as a nice wake up and say hello to another fantastic day in Dublin. You get two eggs which you can get however you like, I got mine the traditional way they serve them, which is poached. That is kinda like sunny side up with the yoke runny. My egg white was also runny. The Hash Browns were very good. The streaky bacon was very fatty, I wished I would have requested it crispy. The French Toast was excellent, crisp with excellent flavor. A fantastic breakfast! If you are looking for a great breakfast this is a wonderful choice.

Everytime I walk past Elephant & Castle, all I can see are people eating chicken wings by the bucketload. And I have tried them myself and they are pretty good indeed! But on this visit I wanted to branch out and try one of their mains. And I was pleasantly surprised. I had the steak and it was so so good! Really tender and definitely one of the nicest steaks I’ve had in a long time! I will definitely be back for that, and of course for the chicken wings.

E&C are famous for their chicken wings which are super vinegary, not spicy really. I love them but if you’re not a fan of acidity, they’re probably not for you. The basket of wings is on the menu as a starter but I normally get one of those and a portion of chips as a main. My drink of choice is their homemade ginger ale which is kinda hot. I tend not to go to E&C at lunch or dinner time but in between as the place is usually jammers during peak meal times. Some of the staff are nice but they also have some of the rudest waiting staff in Dublin, be warned! If you value food over service, give it a bash. If service is key for you, give it a wide berth.

Elephant and castle was decent. The service was decent, the food was decent but nothing really stood out. I had the famous wings and they came with ranch not blue cheese dressing as you would expect, they were good but not amazing. The waiters were not attentive and took a while to get to out table between sitting us and getting us menus and taking drink orders(about 25 minutes between each of these) at the end we were starving and it was not busy.

Elephant and Castle is a place that exceeded our expectations in Dublin! We had dinner here over the weekend — and enjoyed the food very much. 1. Starter — we tried their soup of the day — which was a spicy corn chowder. It was full of flavor and bowl licking good. We also split the hummus — which was also good and exactly what you would expect. 2. We split a club sandwich and a burger — both that were very tasty. The service was excellent and we were very satisfied. Another place worth visiting in the heart of a major tourist area — but a place that isn’t so touristy!

It was an awful day and I was in dire need of food. After viciously scrolling through Unilocal to find a place to eat, I landed on Elephant & Castle, and boy, am I glad I did. Everywhere on Unilocal pointed to the Chicken Wings, so obviously, I had to make an order of the chicken wings. For the mains, I ordered myself the House Salad with Sliced Chicken(€ 12.50), which was topped with Avocado and Tomato, all drizzled with a Tarragon Vinaigrette. My friend, on the other hand, went with the Roasted Garlic Burger, which came with Roasted Garlic Cloves and fresh Chips on the side topped with Garlic Butter and Aïoli. Okay, if everyone on Unilocal says the Chicken Wings are to die for, there can’t be an error in that. I firmly believe that my Unilocalers will never steer me wrong, especially when there is a unanimous two thumbs-up for these wings. So do yourself a favor and get the wings. They even come with a bowl of hot water and lemon so you can get any chicken residue out of your fingers! The House Salad was alright. I thought it would be a bigger party in my mouth than there was, but it seems all the ingredients’s invitations got lost in the Post? I thought the ingredients sounded nice, but in the end, it was all up to the vinaigrette to tie everything together – which it failed to do. The selection of greens were wonderful, in my opinion – frisee lettuce, spinach, mixed greens. But alas, I’ve had better. The Roasted Garlic Burger looked delicious. But once again, a bit disappointing. When my friend received her burger, it was actually very cold. I think the waitress wanted us to finish our starters before giving us our mains, but if it’s sitting there for quite some time, let us know it’s ready instead of letting it cool down. I mean, c’mon, burgers are best served hot! The Roasted Garlic Cloves were something I had never seen before, but again, her whole dish was cold, so I didn’t find it very appetizing. The whole thing was kind of disheartening. I’d say our experience went on a downwards spiral from the Chicken Wings. The reason this place gets a 3-star is because of the customer service; the man who was simulataneously embarassed, surprised, and happy his significant other got the staff to sing happy birthday to him; and the gentleman sitting next to us who did not applaud the birthday boy, but in fact, our decision for selecting the Chicken Wings.

It’s probably a 4.5 more so just on the chicken wings along. We went here after a beer night out so wanted something that would satisfy the stomachs. Needless to say our eyes were bigger then our belly’s! We ordered the famous must have wings which are most definitely to be shared! And the ribs and 2 lots of fries. One between two would have been enough. The wings were as always really tasty. They’d cooled a bit so weren’t there usually pipping hot self but I wasn’t sending them back as the stomach wouldn’t have been pleased. The blue cheese dip really compliments the sauce on the wings which have just enough spice to be enjoyable for me. The ribs were a good portion and came with a sticky smoked BBQ like Jack Daniels flavor sauce. The meat was tender and also great for sharing. I got a garlic dip with m fries. Was surprised they charged a Euro for it and it was a bit to strong for me so wouldn’t be picking that up again. Definitely worth it for the wings alone. As a lunch option a few months ago we shared a wings and 1 fries and we were filled. This place hits the spot.

This review is difficult for me. There was a part of me that really wanted and anticipated an Irish breakfast and other traditional dishes. Instead what we got was akin to any nice brunch spot in the States. Also, their buffalo wings are good. There’s something in that sauce and I think it’s more than that excellent Irish butter. Streaky bacon, which is American style bacon, and nicely cooked eggs. A briochey not overly sweet French toast. A decent steak and eggs. Coffee I could appreciate. Friendly service. All wonderful things. All magical things. All really American. But it does not pretend to be anything that it is not. And it does the things that it does quite well. No puddings or mushrooms or tomatoes. But by no means does this make it less enjoyable.

I’ve passed by this place several times and it has always been packed! One Friday night, before a concert in Button Factory, I finally made it! I started off with a glass of wine– there were quite a few drink options including a special cocktail! I tried the wings — you can get a half order which is enough for one person! And I also got the broccoli and cauliflower smothered in cheese. Delish! This place is known for their wings, and they were really tasty. On the small side, but served hot and spicy, with a bowl of water and lemon for wiping off your hands. So posh, ha. The restaurant in general was very cozy and not stuffy at all. It was very casual and all types of people were there — Young, old, drinkers, vegetarians, etc! I definitely suggest getting the cheesecake at the end of the meal! I’m still dreaming about it!

Sweet mother! I went here after being recommended the Chicken Wings a dozen times and I realised how true all that hype was. The portion sizes are huge(they give you two sets of sandwiches if you ask for one, really). I also really liked the selection of beers they have on offer. I haven’t come here for breakfast, but this is definitely a solid brunch place from what I can tell and yes, it’s well worth waiting for a few minutes which you are very likely to do since they don’t take reservations.

I don’t usually eat in the Temple Bar area for fear of it being too touristy, but I was very pleasantly surprised by Elephant & Castle! Lovely décor in the place, bright but rustic and perfect for a late lunch/early dinner with my Mammy before the theatre. The food we had was incredible, absolutely delicious! I went for the Mexican chicken salad and my mam went for the lime chicken. We also had mussels and the soup as a starter, both of which were delicious. My one complaint(but it’s major) is that they don’t really explain the meals on the menu. They give a very rough outline of what the dish actually includes; my Mexican salad came with buckets of grated cheese on top, and I really hate cheese. I managed to pick around most of it in some way but it just made for a less enjoyable meal overall.(yes, I know I should have expected it with Mexican food, but would it be that hard to list the ingredients?) My mam’s lime chicken(which she enjoyed very much) came with noodles, which was nowhere to be seen on the menu! I know we could have asked for a specific description but having to do that for every single item feels a bit strange to me. Also, like a lot of Dublin menus, there was at least one word in every item that I had to google. Must we use the latin terms for fecking salad? The French Sav Blanc that we had was probably one of the tastiest wines I’ve had in a long time! Seriously so nice! Service was good and the prices were reasonable enough, at least for what we chose. I’d return!
