Dublin Rock N’Roll Marathon

This was my first marathon, and I am so glad that I got to do the inaugural one in Dublin. We had excellent support from the spectators, volunteers and the bands that kept our spirits high. It was a very fun race, and we got to see the most beautiful scenery and roads in Ireland. The hill in this race was definitely insane. I felt the pain in my legs after mile 9 ½. The start line was well organized. They maybe could have used a few more port-​a-​potties. That definitely affected my time and next time I’m just going to do it behind a tree.
My friend also woke me up at 2:30 am by sending me a Facebook message, so I didn’t get a good night sleep. I think what kept me going was I named each mile after someone i admire. I also dedicated the run to my dad who passed away a few years ago. I kept saying to myself that there was no way I am giving up on their patch. I was not really pleased with my time, but I can’t complain. I did it. I finished it and I got to take home an engraved rock n’ roll medal from the inaugural marathon in Dublin! I loved it. :-)
P. S. — By the way, I gave it 5 stars because it was my first one, and it was special for me. I was told there were better RNR Marathons in other places. :) Just sayin’!
