Located between the Henry Gratton Building and Albert College in the centre of the DCU campus, the Restaurant is a large, glass fronted building which serves up canteen slop to students from 8am-4pm every weekday. The fare on offer is fairly standard — pizza slices, soup, sausage and chips, lasagne and a meal of the day which is usually a roast or casserole. There’s a sandwich bar where you can get a wrap, roll or panini made to order, tea and coffee facilities, scones and other pastries, and a fridge containing dairy goods and cold drinks. Considering the Restaurant is supposed to be subsidised, the prices are fairly high, with any main meal costing around € 5 – 7. There’s also a Starbucks counter, serving pricey coffee from a press-button machine. A total cheat. As the area contains seating for up to 600 people, there is never a problem finding a table.
