I bought my Lombardo bike nearly two years ago and found Courtney and Sean in CycleBike really helpful and friendly. They’re really patient and thorough too. There’s two years free servicing, which is brilliant. The guys in the workshop are always very helpful when I’ve brought the bike in for servicing and do a great job. Unfortunately, I recently had my bicycle stolen. But the next day my sorrow turned to joy when I got a call from Courtney to say he had my bike in the shop. He explained how some guy had brought my bike into CycleBike to get a new saddle but he got suspicious so he checked the serial number on my bike against their records and then rang me. CycleBike keep a record of all the serial numbers of the bikes they sell and their customers contact numbers, which is a great idea and as far as I’m aware, are the only bike shop that do this. I cannot thank Courtney enough — because he was so observant and quick thinking — I got my bike back — absolutely amazing! I highly recommend CycleBike, a great place to buy a bike!

I recently bought a new road bike from CycleBike. Courtney, Sean and the rest of the staff were incredibly helpful throughout the purchase process. They not only assessed my needs before we even began looking at bikes, but they took me through both in-store and online stock, before ordering me a bike that wasn’t even within their extensive catalogue. On top of this, when I found the bike in question for sale on another website for a cheaper price, they not only matched the price, but knocked an extra 50 euros off AND included 2 free services. Although the bike took a while to arrive, and there was a small hiccup in arranging the pickup(the bike wasn’t built when I got to the store at 5pm on a Monday), they went out of their way to get my bike ready-to-ride and fitted to me within an hour. Big thanks to Stephen in the workshop who got the bike built up for me in record time. Overall, the whole purchase process was a great experience and CycleBike come highly recommended by me.

I was looking to buy a Tokyobike and I found out that Cyclebike is the only official re seller in Dublin. I was assisted by ‘Terry’ when visiting their shop. He was nice at the first approach and he offered to order the bike from the UK shop so I could have a look and clear up my doubts within 72 hours. He also mentioned that the price in their site fluctuates due to the price was linked to the UK site(pounds); however he confirmed that they always sell the bike for a settle amount. After my visit, I emailed him back and confirmed the agreement as I was really interested in that bike and definitively it’s a great advantage to take a look before purchase. After this, everything went wrong!!! I never heard back from Terry(two or three weeks waiting). I decided to email him back and to the general inbox but unfortunately no response. I gave them a call and they guy who answered told me that nothing was recorded in their system but that he would pass the message to Terry to contact me back(this never happened… again). I decided to go in person to the shop and the guy working that day apologised after I showed to him that I was way too angry! More than a month later, I was asked to go to the shop as the bike finally arrived. I was invited to take it for a ride to test it. I liked it! But surprise surprise, after all this odyssey and poor customer experience, they told me that the final price is not the original I was told and now it is 200euros more expensive! I insisted that during my first visit I was told a settle price even when the euro pound exchange might change. The guy decided to call to ‘Terry’ and this one offered to reduce the price by 100euros but not sticking to the original that I was told. The shop assistance tried to manage to complete the sale by offering a pack of accessories but still if I was purchasing those by separate the sale would have ended cheaper… You can guess now what was the result… I decided to leave the place and not to accept any of the last minute ‘bargains’ that would have made me pay more. I believe they didn’t act in good faith from the beginning and I got very concern that if something would happen later on with the bike, I would have to request of their(poor) customer assistance.

This shop really is, as the prompter says, as good as it gets. They have a really diverse range of stock and are more than happy to sit down with you and go through extended ranges online, and spend quite a bit of time(as they did with me) on going through options, taking through the pros and cons, and generally having sh*tload of patience for someone as ridiculously indecisive as myself. Which leads me to my next point. Staff. Yes it’s a big bright shop, centrally located with lots and lots of choice. But it’s the lads here that really make it. Really knowledgable, but above all, super friendly and chatty. They won’t try to up-sell you; in fact, quite the opposite, you can tell they really want to make sure that you walk out of there with the right options for you. I wouldn’t go anywhere else in the city centre for a bike or bike care.

Well, I recommend this bike shop 100%! But don’t get too excited, tho. This is not the Disney land. You may experience some higher prices on some products, you may have to wait until served. Huge, they offer free two years servicing. My local bike shop offers only first free service after six weeks. Screw them, I said with local-business-support-tears :) Despite what I’ve just said, this is best experience I’ve ever had yet. High prices, I said? But show them, like I did, cheaper prices on Amazon or eBay, and they will match it or at least try to. It’s not easy to pick the right bicycle, so Terry or Darren do an excellent job explaining what is what and etc. so you can pick the best bike you need. All this takes time to be explained and shown, which means other have to wait, but customer is looked after in most deepest way. They are very flexible and you can get very nice deal, just keep bargaining with reason and have comparison to prove your arguments. If you’re buying with cash, this is where bigger discounts arrive. Keep this in mind. Workshop is huge, in my humble opinion. They get very busy during summer. For rich people, I mean, people who don’t drive(yes, you’re rich as you don’t spend like € 1000 per year for road tax and € 500 for insurance and maintenance) there’s luas just right on the door step of the shop. And best of if, that you can bring your bike inside luas if needed. I’ll be updating or writing second review after a year or so regarding there free servicing and etc.

I bought a Surly Long Haul Trucker from these guys, and they gave me a small discount over what other bike shops in the would have charged for it; add that to the cycle to work scheme discount and I was a pretty happy customer. They give free service for two years after you buy a new bike, but since I was moving to the US in six months, they gave my bike as much service as they could for those six months, including seeing it before and after an Irish cycle tour and boxing it up for the airplane ride for free. ALSO, they went above and beyond to help me out – after my bike was boxed, I needed to get it to my flat, and I didn’t own a car(the boxed bicycle was my only form of transport). I went outside to try and hail a cab, and one of the owners of the store(Terry? it’s been a while; I’m bad with names) actually threw me and the bike into his truck and drove me home which was really helpful and saved me a pocket full of cash! I was in and out of this shop a lot; they did have some trouble with ordering parts for me, which is ultimately a problem with their suppliers but they need to work that out. There was one item that they said they’d get for me that I never got before I moved, which was kind of sad, but luckily it was only for spare and I didn’t end up needing it after all.(it was on backorder for months, iirc.) My biggest issue with them was that, once they knew my face and recognized me, I could sit in the shop for over an hour waiting to be helped, while they worked with new customers. I understand that when shops are busy they want to make sure they’re making a good impression with new customers, but a bit more acknowledgement of my presence would’ve helped matters. Basically, don’t be quiet and shy like me if no one is attending to you – flag someone down! They don’t ignore customers, they just focus so intensely on one at a time that if they’re busy, you can wander around helpless for a bit if you don’t make sure they know you’re there. Also they didn’t have prices marked on most of the items when I was there before, but a few people, including me, complained about that(because really, who wants to flag someone down to ask for a price every two seconds while shopping, especially when the staff are busy trying to sell bikes to other customers?), but they told me they were doing their best to remedy that and as I kept going I kept seeing more prices listed on the shelves, so hopefully they kept true to their word. In other news, for buying a new bike, esp. a cycle-to-work scheme bike, I’d defintely recommend these guys on customer service alone, and their repair shop always seemed(to me, at least) to have a reasonable turnaround and the lads in there were always good natured and helpful. They didn’t have a lot of non-bicycle stock but they could order things in for you and genuinely seemed to care about getting you the items and gear you want at a reasonable price. Is it often cheaper to buy things online yourself? Maybe, but personally I prefer brick-and-mortar stores, and this store was a good one, that’s all I have to say. (I was living in Dublin for the year of 2012, so yeah this review is a bit late but it’s honest, so.)

This is the most unique experience that I’ve ever had with a shop, but it has proved to be the most helpful and the most appreciated. This weekend my boyfriend and I went into town and had locked our bikes up near the Jervis Centre(that would be the first mistake). After being gone for less than two hours, we came back to our bikes(brand new, only used 4 times by us) we had realized that they had been tampered with… someone had tried to steal them. There was serious damage to both bikes, although they were not stolen. The most damage was done to my boyfriends bike, his chain had been ripped off and the rear dérailleur(the thing that changes the gears on the back and front of bike) had been broken, which made the bike unridable. Unable to contact anyone for a ride home, we started our walk home with our bikes. We happened to be walking past CycleBike, after it was closed, and the lad outside stopped us and asked if there was a puncture in the tire. We told him the story of our bikes, and he took my boyfriends bike, flipped it upside down and went to work on it. The store had closed at 6pm and we were walking past around 6:30, which means the shop had already been closed and the guy that worked there still helped us. He only charged us € 5 for the new part he installed. Not only did the this guy save us a huge headache, he was helpful, kind, selfless and will forever have our business for all of our bike needs. He truly saved the day!
